Motivation Mondays: LOVE Is… #HappyValentinesDay
“The minute I heard my first love story, I started looking for you, not knowing how blind that was. Lovers don’t finally meet somewhere. They’re in each other all along.” Rumi

Motivation Mondays: LOVE Is… #HappyValentinesDay
Love is something eternal; the aspect may change, but not the essence. Vincent van Gogh
Love is like an hourglass, with the heart filling up as the brain empties. Jules Renard
Love is when the desire to be desired takes you so badly that you feel you could die of it. Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec
Why Valentine’s Day? Every year, around the month of February, anxiety levels rise as lovers debate the merits of celebrating one of the most potent and powerful emotions on one designated day of the year. Why create more stress over an emotion that already requires 24/7 attention and displays of affection? Some would argue that, after all, it is the celebration of the life and works of two beloved Saints/martyrs named Valentinus? So for them, this day, February 14th, is not about human lovers but is dedicated to Saint Valentine’s Day or the Feast of Saint Valentine because its origins are based on a Western Christian feast day in honor of said saints. Others would argue that since we have special days for all sorts of things, a day for lovers would be perfect and why not this day, right? If you have a generous mate, you might get to be wined and dined and pampered… the stress comes when you have a mate who is either jaded, can’t afford the extravaganzas, or simply forgets… I know.
We also have that group of folks who feel the whole thing is a commercial effort to separate lovers from their hard earned coins. Truth is that no one can force you to spend money you don’t have so, be wise and be clear. What resonates with me more is that this season of love is a great time to work on effective communication with loved ones. It is a great time to re-kindle the flames of love if you have been taking each other for granted. If the funds are there, it’s not a bad time to splurge a little on each other. Valentine’s Day ought to be a two way street, frankly, because love takes two to tango, and we can’t let the onus of celebrating this day fall on one partner’s shoulders. What do you say?

Loving is not just looking at each other, it’s looking in the same direction. Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
Love is a condition in which the happiness of another person is essential to your own. Robert Heinlein
This is love by Rumi
This is love: to fly toward a secret sky,
to cause a hundred veils to fall each moment.
First, to let go of live.
In the end, to take a step without feet;
to regard this world as invisible,
and to disregard what appears to be the self.
Heart, I said, what a gift it has been
to enter this circle of lovers,
to see beyond seeing itself,
to reach and feel within the breast. via poemhunter.com

The Gardener By Mary Oliver
Have I lived enough?
Have I loved enough?
Have I considered Right Action enough, have I come to any conclusion?
Have I experienced happiness with sufficient gratitude?
Have I endured loneliness with grace?
I say this, or perhaps I’m just thinking it.
Actually I probably think too much.
Then I step out into the garden,
where the gardener, who is said to be a simple man,
is tending his children, the roses.
A Morning Offering By John O’Donohue
I bless the night that nourished my heart
To set the ghosts of longing free
Into the flow and figure of dream
That went to harvest from the dark
Bread for the hunger no one sees.
All that is eternal in me
Welcomes the wonder of this day,
The field of brightness it creates
Offering time for each thing
To arise and illuminate.
I place on the altar of dawn:
The quiet loyalty of breath,
The tent of thought where I shelter,
Waves of desire I am shore to
And all beauty drawn to the eye.
May my mind come alive today
To the invisible geography
That invites me to new frontiers,
To break the dead shell of yesterdays,
To risk being disturbed and changed.
May I have the courage today
To live the life that I would love,
To postpone my dream no longer
But do at last what I came here for
And waste my heart on fear no more. via mindfulnessassociation.net

This fire that we call Loving is too strong for human minds. But just right for human souls. Aberjhani
Nobody has ever measured, even poets, how much a heart can hold. Zelda Fitzgerald
If you remember me, then I don’t care if everyone else forgets. Haruki Murakami
I’ll love you, dear, I’ll love you till China and Africa meet and the river jumps over the mountain and the salmon sing in the street. W. H. Auden
How can You make this Valentine’s Day/Season of Love Special ? We often forget that the best gifts of love we can give are our presence, our attention, and our shared memories. We can make Valentine’s Day special by considering its deepest value which far exceeds the trinkets we buy and share. We can make Valentine’s Day even more special if we stop to think of others in need and reach out with love to help. The following Valentine’s Day Tips should help you nurture yourself as well as shift a bit of the focus off you and give attention to others in need. Use this time to add a spring to your step and the warmth of love to your heart and the heart of a stranger in need…
1) First and foremost, Send yourself a Valentine’s Day card and a bouquet of your favorite flowers.
2) Make a list of all the things you LOVE about YOU. Type it up and Frame it on your wall.
3) Invite your closest friends over for some comfort food and gift exchange and call it a Just Because Of Our Love Party.
4) Help someone else in need. Visit a shelter and offer your help to make a difference in the life of someone or some other living thing/a pet. When we take some of the focus off ourselves and give love and assistance to others, we are the richer for it.
5) Treat yourself and your family to a special outing and have each person share at least one thing they love about every one in the family.
6) Have each member of your family write down all the accolades and positive feedback they shared about each other, and use the information to create individualized cards for everyone.
Our well-being and our hearts are part of our precious treasure box, and we need to refuel it as often as possible. However, some of us forget to take care of ourselves as we run around attending to others. It is imperative that we STOP and pay attention to our own needs. We cannot be fully present to love/care for others unless we are motivated to be fully present to love/care for our own lives. Have a very HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!
On Love by Khalil Gibran
When love beckons to you, follow him,
Though his ways are hard and steep.
And when his wings enfold you yield to him,
Though the sword hidden among his pinions may wound you.
And when he speaks to you believe in him,
Though his voice may shatter your dreams as the north wind lays waste the garden…
When you love you should not say, “God is in my heart,” but rather, “I am in the heart of God.”
Think not you can direct the course of love, for love, if it finds you worthy, directs your course.
Love has no other desire but to fulfill itself.
But if you love and must needs have desires, let these be your desires:
To melt and be like a running brook that sings its melody to the night.
To know the pain of too much tenderness.
To be wounded by your own understanding of love;
And to bleed willingly and joyfully.
To wake at dawn with a winged heart and give thanks for another day of loving;
To rest at the noon hour and meditate love’s ecstasy;
To return home at eventide with gratitude;
And then to sleep with a prayer for the beloved in your heart and a song of praise upon your lips.
A Modest Love By Sir Edward Dyer
The lowest trees have tops, the ant her gall,
The fly her spleen, the little sparks their heat;
The slender hairs cast shadows, though but small,
And bees have stings, although they be not great;
Seas have their source, and so have shallow springs;
And love is love, in beggars as in kings.
Where rivers smoothest run, deep are the fords;
The dial stirs, yet none perceives it move;
The firmest faith is in the fewest words;
The turtles cannot sing, and yet they love:
True hearts have eyes and ears, no tongues to speak;
They hear and see, and sigh, and then they break via poetryfoundation

My husband and I don’t really celebrate Valentine’s Day. This year we will hardly even see each other between his work meeting, me having two parties at two different schools for the kids, and a Cub Scout pack meeting that evening. But, we do love to cook together, so a gift box based on trying new foods sounds amazing!
“Love is something eternal…”, I think anyone who was crazy in love at least once, can agree with that statement. Loving and being in love is amazing! Thank you for sharing!
I love Valentine’s Day. I think anything that celebrates love is good in my book and helps make the world a happier place.
Love is being stupid together!
I definitely appreciate that one 🙂
Debs
My husband and I try to make something for each other or do an activity together!
Your motivational posts are so appreciated. They are always so uplifting and your images are great choices.
Your Monday Motivation posts always give me something to think about- thank you! As far as Valentine’s Day goes, I’m all in. Though it’s certainly become a consumer-driven holiday, I’m always happy to celebrate love.
Thank you! Yes, it does have some merit. 🙂
I just love Valentines Day. My husband and I don’t usually spend money on each other, but we love spending time with each other!
I honestly love your posts! Every single one is so well written, and this one was so perfect just in time for Valentine’s Day
I just wrote a post on Valentine’s Day! I agree to a point, as long as your having fun with the person your with is all that matters! I live the qoutes you put up; more specifically Love is Like an hourglass!
I definitely agree with your earlier observation that the main key ingredient for a successful celebration of your love on Valentines Day is not so much about gifts and spending. It is more about the degree and quality of your communication with that person. The things associated with the heart that will long outlive products as such. Nice and thought provoking post as always.
True… communication is key
Ahh… Valentine’s… I like to think of it as a day to remember the true meaning(s) of love. Why we love, who we love, how we love. Remembering to spread more love throughout the world. To do something for someone else. To lift someone up and show them how important they are. And, of course, it’s for the lovers!
Yes of course,, nothing beats the gift of presence and sharing of sweet precious memories together.
I enjoyed reading the background information on the holiday of love! Thanks for sharing!
What a great, informative post! I try to avoid valentines day – I’ve never been a fan! But my husband on the other hand does not let that happen.. haha I celebrate for him but I would skip it if it were up to me!
Lucky you.. enjoy the love!
I agree the best gifts are our presence. I love being with my family, it gives me great job
Great post, you are right it is what you make of it. I think people make too big a deal out of these kind of holidays, but it is important to some people.
Another outstanding and beautiful article from you! You have some beautiful love quotes here I did not know !
Yey! Another motivational post for Valentines day! Thank you!
What a sweet and inspirational post. I’ve never been a huge fan of valentine’s day, but I am a big fan of love.
I am the same way!
I always celebrate Valentines day but have never really known where the day comes from so this was such an interesting and informative read! Love all the pictures too!
Thanks for sharing this! The perfect Monday Motivation addition and in the right timing for Vday.
I enjoyed reading the background on valentine’s day!
I am actually going to spend this Valentine’s Day having a home made dinner with my loved one, enjoying a glass of wine and each other’s company. I think that everyone should do something on this day, single or not, and treat themselves with something, even if that something is just a glass of nice wine.
Love is a beautiful feelings. You are in love just when your partner is your number one priority. Happy Valentine.
I agree. Although it all seems too commercial and materialistic, it is good to celebrate a special day with a special one. We get so busy in our lives and daily routine that we forget to celebrate love. Why not have a special day for that!
Valentine’s Day has always been my favorite. I now choose to celebrate it on my wedding anniversary (24th) since it’s so close to that date.
Valentine’s day should be everyday! Think about how awesome it will be less stress and all loving.
Love all the loving quotes. Puts me in the loving mood just reading them. Thank you!
I really do agree with Prince Royce. The most important thing about this special day is to be with the person you love. Enjoy this lovely day.
The TryTheWorld box sounds like just the sort of thing that I would love! Thanks for the idea.
Let me rephrase the title… God Is Love. Well, I believe if one truly believes in the God of his religion then he would be happy. However, in conne tion to that, he should also respect other religions.
This is something I need to remember every single day! I love that quote. It shows how love formed us in our daily living.
Oh wow, Those were really a great tips. While spending our day with our love ones on a special day. Why not spend your Valentines with those in need. I love the idea of visiting a shelter. Thank you for sharing this.
What a lovey idea this Valentines Day to help others in need. I love to do it not only during this Day but everyday as far as I can.
The “Try The World” box is a genius gift idea. Your post made me look into their website and I see they have snacks for in between meals as well! Great post. I will be looking into them further, thanks for sharing!
My husband and I don’t celebrate valentines but mainly because our anniversary is eleven days before and we do something for that! I like the idea of the world box. Definitely something I’ll think about.
Beautiful post. I am someone who loves the concept of love. Reading these really made me happy.
I love the poetry of Mary Oliver so much! I love Valentine’s Day, especially when it’s used to celebrate love in all its many forms.
I think it is so important to just appreciate spending tune with those that you love and not focus on gifts or fancy dinners
Lovely love quotes and thoughts. Lots to pick from to share with someone special. Thank you for the collection.
Happy Valentine’s Day! I’d like to try that Try the World Box, too. I’ve seen them in your previous posts and the contents were amazing! 🙂
Valentine’s Day is something that we don’t go over the top to celebrate, but we do acknowledge. Even if it’s just sitting together and watching a good movie, spending that time connecting is more than enough.
That phrase about lovers being part of one another all along is an interesting one to think about for sure.
I can soo relate to this it be’s like a national festival and if you do not prove your love for your partner on this day then all your efforts through out the relationship seems to have gone for a toss. I am grateful thats not the case with me. Its been 3 years we havent spent this special day together but our love, respect and affection for each other has grown immensely. With no gifts exchanged no special arrangements we are still fine as my husband says “for us everyday is a Valentine’s day”… Trust me if you have to make an effort to prove your love every single day or on such days just to show it to the world. It is all fake.
There is something good in celebrating a special day and yes… we should show love every day too.
Such a lovely page !! Much needed. Loved the vivid descriptions and your writing style. Will surely comr back for more. 🙂
The Try the World Box sounds fab, I love discovering new things and that seems a lovely way to do it.
Ami xxx
I think love finds and guides you, as you meet the love of your life usually when you least expect it
I do think Valentine’s day is too commercial. But it’s also a great way to show your loved ones that you appreciate them 🙂
Gourmet food as gift, yes. that is a great valentines day gift. Even reading about it brought a smile to my face.
Lovely.. That is all I can say as I’m out of words here… Personally I don’t like valentines day.
Somehow I do agree that Valentine’s Day is another commercial day dedicated to spending money. However, you can make it different by just having a romantic night in, a date night with candles, red wine and a nice movie. You don’t need to spend money.
This Valentine’s it is important to me clebrating it not only with my husband but with the whole family. I want to express how I love them in this special occassion by spending time with them. eat dinner and have an out of town travel.
A post oozing with lots of love and positivity. Thanks for spreading love around.
I think my husband will love the Try the world box. We always look for fun new things to try and this will be perfect. This year for Valentines day my goal is to see how I can do better with our marriage and make it better in the upcoming year.
Oh i didn’t know about that fact. I really thought that Valentines day was really for lovers. This is surprising.
The Gardener By Mary Oliver. What a wonderful life lesson. The simplest things are the most important of all.
I have to try this WorldBox. I enjoy getting food from different countries!
Great post for Valentine’s Day week. Love is patient, kind, considerate and selfless. I love this post.
I love the quote: “Love is metaphysical gravity”. Thanks for sharing this before V-day.
Oh what beautiful poetry. Valentines day is such a lovely celebration I think. It doesn’t need to be about fancy gifts and expensive dates, it’s just about showing love to everyone!
While we don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day, we show each other every day how much we mean to each other. I totally agree that being present is the best gift you can give each. Great motivation in this post, as always.
My husband and I aren’t big into celebrating Valentine’s Day but it is nice to take the time to remind your loved ones how much they mean to you.
Happy Valentine’s day to you too. Great post and loving the love motivation today xx
So true, there are so many ways to celebrate valentines. People have romanticized valentines through the years.
I never celebrate valentine’s but apparently my husband has a surprise for me tomorrow, not entirely sure what (i don’t like surprises) so it’s making me really anxious!
My husband and I don’t put a lot of pressure on Valentine’s Day. We try to do something, but in general everyday way make each other feel special.
I totally agree, as lovers it’s okay to share the onus of celebrating this day together.. Have a happy Valentines everyone..!
We do something simple for Valentine’s Day since all year we make sure to show our love and appreciation. I don’t like the pressure that it puts on some to meet the expectations of their sweetheart.
Well said. As I may go on a date on Valentine’s day but I cherish my partner every month of the year. And if we’re are busy and can’t make it, it’s ok because we share our love every day.
Beautiful post and writing! Thank you for sharing this article!
As always Rumi speaks to me.
Hahaha! It is an ongoing, long standing love affair. 🙂
It was interesting to read. I’m making this Valentine special by spending with my family. Happy Valentine! I agree with George Sand that there is only one happiness – to live and to love.
Yes, HVD to all! 🙂
Valentines day is a beautiful holiday, but it has become a bit too oriented on the material side, and besides, if you are with someone and you love them, show them through out the year, not just on that one single day.
Can’t agree more… my husband and I we have always believed in being present for each other, giving importance to each other and create memories.
This is a nice article that gives arguments for and against Valentine’s Day which I can appreciate.
Cool poems! My husband and I are definitely in a routine about Valentines day, but it is fun and it’s another opportunity to remind each other that we love one another 🙂
What a beautiful Valentines post! You are so right! The most important gift for our loved ones are not material! I always chose to give little and meaningful gifts instead of the expensive ones.
Here in Manila’s social media, I’ve seen many creative givers sharing their creative version of their bouquet to their love: money bouquet, fruit bouquet, veggie bouquet, and flowers are out. Awesome!
I love all the quotes you post 🙂 I enjoyed the dyer poem too ♥️
These quotes are amazing and thought- provoking. Love is eternal is my favorite, and I also like that love is 1 soul occupying 2 bodies.
I do think it’s good to reconnect with loved ones as often as possible, and V-Day brings that to the forefront.
This is awesome! Super love all your posts especially this one, the quotes are great. Thanks a lot for sharing. Happy V day.
Chad
I love Mary Oliver poem that you included. She has always been one of my favorite all-time poets! I also love the John O’Donohue poem.
We never celebrate Valentine’s Day, just something we agreed on when we got married and while we were dating. But that food subscription box sounds awesome!
We got a 3 month subscription for Try The World from my husband’s boss. Sadly, we didn’t eat much of it and it got wasted. But I think that was my fault… I don’t like trying new things. ha
As always, what an interesting and well-researched post! It’s so cool to hear different perspectives on Valentine’s Day, is there is a huge difference in the various opinions you hear.
Whenever, I come to this blog, I return motivated.
Celebrating Valentine’s day with my family! Happy Valentine’s Day to you too and thanks for always inspiring us with beautiful quotes.
Happy Valentine’s Day to you too! Loved all the collection of poems and quotes in this post! Also, TryTheWorld subscription box sounds amazing! Would love to try it!
One year me and my husband did the melting pot for V-Day with a friend and her boyfriend in AC. It was fun, but now me and my boyfriend just did dinner. Nothing to fancy.
Another great Monday Motivation post! For Valentine’s Day the hubby and I don’t normally exchange gifts, it’s more about just spending some quality time together and enjoying a nice dinner at home.
Thank you so much for sharing these quotes! they are the perfect way to set up the mood for an incredible day!
Happy Valentine’s Day! It’s funny how people make a day extra special by showing how they love someone. I’m a fan of those special days. I even sent a hand written letter to my boyfriend. LOL.
Very interesting information and love the poetry! My sister thinks all holidays are just for commercialism, but I enjoy making a fuss and having fun with my family.
So much love here on the perfect day! Love these quotes and poems! Thanks for sharing!
I don’t celebrate valentines day EVERRR!!! because for me love is everything we can appreciate love no matter what it is. Your motivational post so powerful and wonderful 🙂
I try not to get too caught up in Valentines day as I fell like it’s just a commercial stunt. That said, i do think it’s nice to have a day to let your partner know you appreciate them. Really love the quotes in this post, favourite (and most relatable) being “Love is being stupid together”!
My favorite thing about this post are the flamingos. I love those birds… But in all seriousness I love all of the quotes you put in every single post.
It’s a hard one – I can see that love is something that should be celebrated, but I do think a lot of companies see it as a way to get money out of people! It’s a great way of reminding people how important love is &, like you say, about communicating with one another
Such a lovely and beautiful post. Happy Valentines…well belated Valentines day to you too xx
I love the Aristotle quote.
Beautiful post, my favorite quote on this post is “Love is metaphysical gravity.” I feel that is entirely true. I always enjoy your posts, they are always well written and packed with information.
Valentine’s Day is really special to us. We’ve always celebrated at home. We cook a fancy dinner, dessert, some wine, a nice movie and lots of decorations of course. With the baby now we include her as well and do some crafts with her.
Happy Valentines Day from the Philippines 🇵🇭
Great read. I love Rumi’s poetry.
Sudipa
Interesting post – some great tips and advice here! I will definitely have to take some of this on board. And great quotes as always x
I love every article from this blog, it’s worth reading. We can also learn wisdom from this blog site and practice it in our daily lives.
This is a lovely sharing, I love travelling & wish my future partner will share the same passion too, enjoy my reading here 😀 Happy Valentines Day 😀 Cheers, siennylovesdrawing
I’d love to try the Try the World Box, too. There’s always something interesting inside each of their subscription box. 🙂
I have been hearing and reading so much about subscription boxes. This sounds like a great idea.
The idea around Valentines day IS BEAUTIFUL but I personally don’t like it because some people tend to think of you only on val’s day.
Glad to see you here! 🙂
Altough I don’t like valentine day, but trully i read your article that may be useful for me someday. And also this become new knowledge for me.
We had a family meal for Valentine’s Day. The kids helped cook and serve the food to us and it was really sweet.
I enjoy reading about love stories, they melt your heart. I love Prince Royce’s definition of Valentine’s day.
Happy Valentines Day! This was not my favorite time of the year until I met my husband. Since we got married, we make sure to do something special on this day partly because it is also close to our wedding anniversary so, we really do not mind the almost “whole month celebration”
I enjoyed reading the poem. So beautifully captured, telling oneself to move on without holding back anymore. Thanks for sharing. 🙂
Nice article and as usual great photos! I like how they fit the general content 😊
I love Valentine’s Day. Everything is pink theres extra love! I hope you had a great Valentines Day
I loved all those quotes, especially the poem by Rumi. So simple, yet so powerful. It sums up Valentine’s day (and love) perfectly. Thanks for sharing.
Man, isn’t love quite a mystery? It doesn’t really make much logical sense that there would be one person for each of us. And, yet, I cannot see another in an adoring light having known my husband. He makes me throw out all logic and just love!
Happy Valentines Day, Elizabeth! I hope you have a great day as well.
I am blessed to be in a relationship that don’t need the Valentine’s day celebration to be showered with love and affection. My husband constantly shows me that every day is a celebration of love. Happy Valentine’s Day!
My husband and I have been married 10 years, and he was away working most of those valentines days, so it is not something we do a lot to celebrate. I love the poem you shared!
Happy Heart’s day my friend 🙂
Love all the quotes And poems about love that you put here, especially the ones from Khalil Gibran..One of my top favourite poets of all time..
I agree with you that some people think that Valentine’s Day is too commercialised that it loses its original purpose, but just like you said nobody forces us to buy gifts for our loved ones but it serves as a reminder to show our love and appreciation to them..it can as easy as saying how much you appreciate your love ones 🙂
These quotes bring back wonderful memories for me. Thank you for connecting the past with the present. I still believe in love and life. Both are inter-related.
I do think that Valentines Day has been overly commercialized-just like every other celebration, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t get super excited about receiving a small token or a special dinner to celebrate! This year we made heart shaped crafts and cookies and just kept it low key. Super fun and easy way to celebrate-without breaking the bank!
It was very overwhelming that even the generation has so many differences now, the celebration of Valentines has a very unending warmth.
I dont celebrate valentines day but its nice that ppl are thinking of ways to express love towards those they care about!
Love that van Gogh quote: the aspect may change but not the essence. That’s true love…and when the essence does change, it can never return. It’s gone for good.
I think we do celebrate Valentine’s every day but we just don’t realize it. And it shouldn’t be something to spend a fortune on either. This year I spent the time with my friend Just at home nothing special. I hope you had a good time with your loved ones.
Interesting post! I really enjoy your writing style! Do keep it up
I am really going to have to check out that box. I love gourmet food and it sounds like a great box for that.
Thanks for sharing these lovely quotes with us and encouraging us to show our appreciation for love and Valentine’s Day.
Love these beautiful quotes and poems about love. We’re celebrating Valentine’s day all weekend, so the timing for me was perfect. Thanks for sharing!
Everyday should be valentines day! We give love in many ways and forms 🙂
love makes life so much better, so much more colorful and gives a lot of meaning. I think finding love is the best thing ever to happen to a person. Happy Valentine’s day, a day to push something more romantic into daily lives.
I love the quotes and poems listed here. Some of my favorites! I think its sweet to have a special day, but also think love should be shown in little ways throughout the year
I am a helpless romantic, always have been. I married my high school sweetheart and have been with him since 16. I love the being in love is being stupid together. We are always acting crazy and silly together because we can be ourselves and still have fun together.
My husband was out of the country on Valentine’s Day so we didn’t do much but send text messages. We plan to have a nice dinner next month when he comes back. We got engaged around Valentine’s Day so we always have a small celebration but it’s not too big of a deal.
Your quotes are always inspiring!
My husband and I don’t make a huge deal about Valentine’s Day but we usually get each other something small.
Happy Valentine’s Day to you! I love all of the quotes about this beautiful day but one should show love to those that we love every day not just on a holiday. I love that photo of the flamingos.
I loved the poem This is love by Rumi that you shared here. Happy Valentines Day to all!
We never do much for Valentine’s day, but do like to ensure we make time for a nice dinner, and exchange cards. Regardless how much you work on your love, vday is a celebration of that love.
I agree with what Stephanie said above – Valentine’s Day is a whole different ball of wax once you’re married and esp once you have kids. This year Valentine’s Day coincided with Girl Scout night and the cookie pre-order deadline, so (as Troop Cookie Mama) I was out all night at my daughters’ meeting, collecting and tallying initial troop cookie orders. That said, we did have a nice bottle of champagne on Friday night once the girls were in bed – just not on Valentine’s Day proper 🙂
These quotes for Valentine’s Day are pretty sweet. I’m not really a fan of the holiday, it’s too commercial and people try to focus on love too much on one day then the rest of the year.
Enjoyed the readings. We don’t do Valentine’s Day or most holidays for that matter. Yes it is all commercial.
It might be commercial buy let’s admit it – it works! Though many of us splurge for Valentine’s Day, it doesn’t matter if these gestures would help to blossoms those love to one another.
I think both points of view are correct, Valentines day can be a special time to commemorate the love shared between two people, but it is also highly commercial. For years, hubby and I didn’t celebrate, but, now that we do, it feels good to make an event of the day, even if we don’t spend a bunch of money. I think there are always ways to find a happy medium with things.
I enjoyed reading this artcle, this something that we all should remember
We do not really celebrate it. But I remember a Pastor said he send flowers to his wife and daughter because he wants to let everybody know that someone loves them.
Happy Valentines! Such a perfect article for this season of love.
enjoyed reading your article. I would like to be honest I’m not really into the holiday’s. Love should be shared everyday, not on this one day. thanks for sharing this. .
Happy Valentines to you as well!
I’m too cynical about love already and sometimes think this is just a capitalist made occasion
So happy to see we agree on the fact that love can be celebrated all year long! The anxiety and stress over an emotion that deserves 24/7 attention is really not necessary. But hey! To each his own. Love is an individual concept, so we all have the freedom to do what works best. Personally, I like the whole year concept. Not just a day.
beautiful article. great reminder that love should be shared everyday!
Love is a condition in which the happiness of another person is essential to your own. Robert Heinlein
I love this quote. I’m not big on Valentine’s Day, but I’m head over heels for the man I married. I didn’t know true love until I met and married him. I’ve learned to love as no has before and as no one ever will again. Couldn’t be happier!
A little Rumi can make any day special– even beyond Valentine’s Day!
What a lovely post. I love the idea of the gourmet box subscription!
I honestly believe that one does not need a holiday to celebrate love. Love should be celebrated daily.
However anyone chooses to celebrate Valentine’s Day is entirely up to them. But it’s a lovely holiday to celebrate anytime that one shows once love and affection to another is a great thing so if it inspires people to do that it’s all good.
I love your love quotes! So beautiful.
Love Robert Heinlein’s quote:”Love is a condition in which the happiness of another person is essential to your own.” Important words to live by!
These lines are so powerful!
May I have the courage today
To live the life that I would love,
To postpone my dream no longer
But do at last what I came here for
And waste my heart on fear no more.
Everyday, we need the courage to face what’s in store for us.
I like Valentine’s Day. It is true there can be commercialization involved but I think it can serve as a reminder to appreciate your loved ones. Not only your partner but your family and friends.
Love is biology 😉 Hormones and chemical brain reactions 🙂
I love these motivational posts! Reading this on Monday made me very happy – thank you!
Such beautiful poems. I especially love Rumi’s. So important to start your week off with positivity, motivation and love!
I hope you had a great valentine’s day. I love the quote by Vincent Van Gogh” Love is something eternal; the aspect may change, but not the essence”. I am adding it to my quote book.
Valentines day which is very much celebrated here at PH. All restaurants are fully booked and your poem is just a great remembrance how great it is for the people in here.
Happy Valentines day to you too. This is indeed Lovely collection Of Lovely Stuff 🙂
Happy Valentines day to everyone. May you guys find true love.
Whatever ways we celebrate this day, what’s important is with whom we celebrate it. Still thankful that this day is still a hot topic around the world..
“You know you’re in love when you can’t fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams. Dr. Seuss” is my all time favourite quote!
This is one of the most interesting blog that I have read about Valentine’s
Thanks for sharing.
I love those quotes especially about love, those are great!
I don’t celebrate Valentine’s day, but I help others mark it by baking them delicious cakes and treats– lots of orders I wouldn’t give up. This doesn’t mean I don’t love love. I love love and every love story there is. I just don’t believe in celebrating my loved one only on a certain day (as it is for most people).
There are a few quotes and poems here I love so much.
Happy Valentine’s day (quite late though) from Nigeria!
Same to you.TY Sis! 🙂
I agree. This was a beautiful post. As long as your with the one you love that is all that matters.
I love LOVE & I think you included some of the best quotes about love
I’m not a lover of Valentine’s day, but it;s super important to my boyfriend so we celebrated it. It was our first one as a couple.
When love is not madness, it is not love. Pedro Calderon de la Barca – that’s gotta be my fave quote that you posted! Love it! So true! Happy Valentines!
Your blogs actually carry some great quotes. Every time
I need to post something on Facebook, I find myself directing here to steal a quote.
I love being stupid together! It definitely keeps us young
We rarely celebrated Valentine’s day. My husband is a pilot. So we are lucky if he has a day off on that day – same with birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas, New Years. We request for days off, but if not given then it’s fine. Same this year, he was flying. So somethimes we just celebrate these important days on different days. I mean, we should express our love everyday right, not because it’s Valentine’s. Anyway, love all your quotes esp “Loving is not just looking at each other, it’s looking in the same direction”. We are in an intercultural marriage. We always have differences but we always make sure that we are on the same page and looking in the same direction.
Such a good read.different but refreshing
I love those candles. They are so beautiful.
I don’t really celebrate Valentine’s day but I always love reading about people’s love story. I find it very inspiring.
Thanks for sharing the lovely quotes ,poems and facts that made Monday so motivating and fulfilling. That is a lot of ground work on love !
Beautiful written post! Thank you for sharing all those wonderful quotes about love.
I suppose there are many ways of celebrating love, in my opinion Valentine’s Day is just a commercial occasion.
I love this quote from Rumi! I think it was written for me the very first time I read it. Obviously, I was in love! Thank you for sharing all these beautiful words.
I quite like Valentine’s Day. I tell my husband daily how much I love him but it’s nice to have a special day to do so.
Cool Valentine post. I especially like Rumi’s poem 🙂
Rumis’ quotes are lovely! While in Japan, different approach for celebrating Valentines though. Great read!
I have to agree, it doesn’t have to be fancy. Anything from the heart is the beat gift you can ever give your loved one. Hehe. And I don’t even celebrate Valentines Day. I mean, why do I have to wait for that one day to show my love? Proving your love to someone should be shown daily instead. That’s just me though.
You’re always shedding light on important, but often forgotten wisdom. “The minute I heard my first love story, I started looking for you, not knowing how blind that was. Lovers don’t finally meet somewhere. They’re in each other all along.” Rumi is one of my favorite quotes.
Loves your views and attitude towards the topic. Really helpful for me. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
I hope you and your family had an amazing Valentine’s Day. May the next 365 days be filled with endless love for you!
Great post! I definitely needed to see this, this morning
Being loved and to love is the best thing that can happen to anyone, I must say
I love that Prince Royce quote. It’s deifnitely what you make of it. If you don’t want to do anything crazy, you don’t have to. You can celebrate it or not celebrate it.
Whatever mood I come in here, I get motivated all the time.
Beautiful quotes and tips on how to celebrate the Valentine’s Day 👍🏻
Beautiful quotes and love the tips on how to celebrate Valentine’s Day with family
I really love all the quotes and poems about love you have here. Me and my husband enjoy all day as valentines day. Enjoyed reading your writing.
“When love is not madness, it is not love. Pedro Calderon de la Barca” – I couldn’t agree more to this…
I love the poems . Happy hearts day..
Love is definitely more than a feeling. It’s a commitment of the greatest and most selfless kind for sure!
really love all the quotes and poems about love you have here. and love your posts always.
Love is so important in life and I really enjoy celebrating these occasions. Great post!
Love this blog-sharing love, not w/ just a significant other, but everyone in our lives is so important-thanks for the reminder.
I love Dr. Seuss definition of being inlove, the kind of love that makes you ‘don’t want to miss a thing’ thay was so beautiful..
Yes, very sweet
Love is being stupid together (Paul Valery), is my favorite one. If you can’t be yourself around your partner then what is the point of being together. You should be able to laugh, be stupid, and enjoy life with one another.
I love it too. 🙂
