Motivation Mondays: RESPITE
“I can be alone without being lonely. In fact, those times of solitude are a necessary respite for a beleaguered soul, set upon by the pressures of life. I need to take whatever moments I can to just be still.” Steve Goodier

Motivation Mondays: RESPITE
RESPITE: When are YOU taking a break to rejuvenate? It is easy to put off those necessary moments of respite because so many of us are like hamsters on a wheel. Our lives are loaded with To-dos and getting off that endlessly spinning wheel seems impossible. There are always things to do, commitments and expectations to fulfill, and we think we are indispensable so we grind on. It’s little wonder that we often read about folks who, after years of stress-inducing, life grinding hours, and body/mind/spirit punishing work, keel over and die within weeks of retirement. Take a brief respite and enjoy your life, and time with family and friends. You would feel so much better for it.
Our bodies need periods of rest, relaxation and rejuvenation to flourish. Just like perennial plants return to bloom in the summer after resting for about 6 months, the human mind and body need time out for rest. We all need time to decompress, to shoot the breeze and rejuvenate. Lately, I’ve been feeling like the statue of liberty and her steady gaze on us all as we face the strains of life’s demands. Emma Lazarus’ poem comes to mind and this weary traveler needs a break from the grind. Yes, I need to take a break from blogging and my social media manager roles. I would be remiss if I don’t recommend that you all do the same. Taking time to enjoy a period of respite is essential… take a sabbatical, a breather, a break from the grind, and rest. You owe it to yourself and loved ones. It’s for good reason.

Motivation Mondays: A QUESTION Of BALANCE
The New Colossus BY EMMA LAZARUS
Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
“Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!” cries she
With silent lips. “Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”
“Play matters because it gives us a brief respite from the tyranny of apparent purpose.” Jill Vialet

Respite Reminder: I’m Taking My Own Advice. Will Check in Occasionally. Back in August!
CHANGES: What have YOU committed to change this year? Recently, I sold my home of 25+ years, found another home in my area, packed up/moved out decades of accumulated stuff, and need to focus on downsizing and editing my possessions. I must admit that I’ve been a bit of a pack rat who suffers from extreme doses of sentimentality. I still have knickknacks from my kids’ school days as Brownies, artists, and budding musicians. A few years ago, I packed up lots of stuff and donated them to the Salvation Army, and I also put quite a bit in storage. After watching a few episodes of Marie Kondō’s show and reading her book, I’ve decided to release a ton of stuff and simplify my life.
During the years I worked in fashion retail, I collected my share of designer things that no longer interest me or serve my lifestyle. I still have some designer clothes I bought in London before I moved to NY, tons more I bought here, and bits and pieces of things collected over the years… it’s all become too much. In one of my pack-up moments a few years ago, I misplaced a bag of Hermes scarves and haven’t found them since. Yes, even those Louboutin shoes must go. I’ve always loved art, books, and shoes, and must pare them down too. I believe that we can open the door to new experiences of growth when we remove excesses from our space and lives. It takes effort and commitment to get to that place of simplicity, and focusing on making definitive changes in my life is key for the summer. I simply must do it. Of course, I’ll check in as needed. Hugs and love to all.

Motivation Mondays: Love & Laughter
A Moments Indulgence by Rabindranath Tagore
I ask for a moment’s indulgence to sit by thy side.
The works that I have in hand I will finish afterward.
Away from the sight of thy face, my heart knows no rest nor respite,
and my work becomes an endless toil in a shoreless sea of toil.
Today the summer has come at my window with its sighs and murmurs; and
the bees are plying their minstrelsy at the court of the flowering grove.
Now it is time to sit quiet, face to face with thee, and to sing
dedication of life in this silent and overflowing leisure

“…and how time flies! What, has it already been twenty years, already forty years that we are together? Why, how terrible! We haven’t yet said all we wanted to say to each other… May we have a little respite, or else may we be allowed to begin all over again!” Sidonie Gabrielle Colette

Motivation Mondays: RESPITE

Respite Reminder: I’m Taking My Own Advice. Will Check in Occasionally. Back in August!

Motivation Mondays: RESPITE
Life seems to be a process of replacing one anxiety with another and substituting one desire for another–which is not to say that we should never strive to overcome any of our anxieties or fulfill any of our desires, but rather to suggest that we should perhaps build into our strivings an awareness of the way our goals promise us a respite and a resolution that they cannot, by definition, deliver. Alain de Bottom
SABBATICAL: Have you ever taken a leave from your job? How did you spend your time? From time to time, academics and others in related fields take a leave of absence to focus on pressing matters. It could be for research work that needs chunks of concentrated time, family care-provider needs, or time out to reassess career goals and make choices that are more in alignment with current needs. I think everyone ought to have the opportunity to take a sabbatical, even a short one because it can be a time of great creative growth. Our creativity shines when we spend some time for reflection to nurture it and make it flourish. If we are constantly on an automatic response, we give our minds little room for reflection and expansion. The end result is bureaucratic behavior, increased stress, and a reduction in our quality of life.
TAKING A BREATHER: Enjoying the languid days of summer, clearing space for new experiences/growth, and starting the next phase of my life in a new home will offer the best time/opportunity to focus on making radical changes to my space. I will listen to the inner guide that has protected me all my life and take time off. More to come. Stay tuned!

I had a brief respite last week when my family and I went to Singapore. I did not work for a week and thoroughly enjoyed myself.
Everyone needs to take a little break every once in while
We all need a respite now and again. Time to rejuvenate the soul and heal the mind. Self care is important and a break is sometimes needed.
I admit that I need to take a rest or to respite most especially during those hardest days of my life because it gives me time to think, to meditate and to be recharge.
Well, this one is new for me. A new vocabulary to be honest. I like it. I think I always do it to recharge in most cases I am in: Thanks you for this
I can’t agree more that time off really helps creativity flow. After working in China, I chose to take eight months off before beginning my post-graduate degree, and in that time I’ve started my blog and produced courses on Skillshare, while also remaining active academically in my spare time. It’s been a wonderful way to pursue my creativity and look after my (neglected health). You really find yourself when you take a bit of time off; wonderful article!
Kudos… you are working hard.
I always look forward to your post because they lift up my spirits and they are always packed with great information!
Moving is always so time consuming and lots of work. Can’t imagine moving after 25 years.
This post comes at such a good time since school is just about over for the year. I will definitely take time this summer to rejuvenate and get much needed R & R since it’s so easy to forget when you’re teaching and juggling other tasks!
This is really important for someone like me. Recently I had a major downfall and I felt stressed from my work. So I book a flight to somewhere else just to calm myself.
Great word! Respite is so important, especially when taking care of our physical and mental health.
My company offers SABBATICAL leaves, and I think it is very important to take a leave of that kind, where you can come back completely refreshed.
I love everything about this post and how inspirational it is! We need motivation everydays! -Sondra Barker @cuisineandtravel.com
Wow, such a wonderful blog. I love the story and your points here. We all need to respite, especially people who have been working too hard and almost had their life’s cycle into their job.
Life was not easy, it is full of challenges and sometimes we need to take a break and think about our motivation for doing things is so important.
I think respite is one of a self-care practice. Taking a break sometimes is so important. Life’s too short to neglect our responsibilities to ourselves.
Such a great content and I love story told above. It was really something to keep in mind.
Thank you Geraline
Ahh a break. God, how we all need a break. I think we need to make room for this every day (even if just a few minutes). To slow down, catch our breath, and just be. I also think it’s good to get away now and then or to even just be home alone and let your mind relax.
Yes, respite for me is downtime to rest, relax and unpack the boxes in my new home
I agree, taking a break is essential. We all need to practice self love and self care!
It sure helps…
Our lives get so busy, it’s more important than ever to take time to yourself! I recharge in solitude! This is a great reminder to relax a bit after all the hard work is done:)
I’m glad it spoke to you
So important to take time for yourself!
Great stuff. Are the photos all yours?
I really connected with the respite part of your Motivation Monday. I am all too familiar with pushing myself and taking on a lot at once without thinking about what I may actually need. Great post! I’d like to include a quote that I think goes with this theme! “There is virtue in work and there is virtue in rest. Use both and overlook neither.” – Plato
We all are and often imagine we are indispensable… no one is. If we keel over from a stroke, we will be replaced at work.
I love reading your motivation Mondays. As we are coming closer to the end of the month I am working on setting bigger and more aligned goals for July.
Good for you!
Love, love, love the poems. Definitely speaks to the heart about taking time for yourself and assessing your mental health.
Mental health is important
I definitely struggle with taking a moment to myself. It’s hard to make ourselves slow down sometimes!
You are not alone
Motivation is one thing I need nowadays. Nice blog. Saw your post…
Respite aka self-care needs o be practiced by all but in this rat-race of a country, it is really hard to ease off the grind. Still, I try to make Sundays a lazy day with much sleep, skin care/haircare et al. I’m sentimental too and have only just begun letting things go because of space, or lack of.
We can still try… nevre late 🙂
Something all of us desperately need at some point in our lives. A few months ago, I was just so ready to give up that I was thinking of getting on a bus to somewhere, just anywhere, away from all the responsibilities that has been thrown upon me. I just need some time away. Alone.
We all need down time
I couldn’t agree more! Everyone needs a break every once in a while.
I totally needed this read. Taking time for ourselves is so important. I personally enjoy me time 🙂
Respite care is so important. In my daily work, in my plan of care, I have a part to educate the caregivers about respite care. It is vital to take some time to rejuvenate.
Ya. Just took a long break to rejuvenate. My idea of rejuvenation is a camera amongst the hills. Thats all I ever need!
I love the content of ‘A Moment’s Indulgence’! Thanks for sharing 🙂
Thank you!
I love the story here… So inspiring and eye opening.. Sometimes we let ourselves drown in our hard work that we forget what we truly want.
This is really motivational. Everyone should read this, its very important to take a break once in a while too
I love the idea of a sabbatical but as a freelancer, that would be quite hard… Definitely think it’s important to take a break every once in a while!
Excellent post as usual. A sabbatical is a great way to really get some head space and re-evaluate your life. I’d recommend it!
I am glad I work a relaxed job so I always rejuvenate but I need to change up my eating habits and I watched Marie Kondo as well and it was a bad idea in a great way I sold all my clothes lmao
Indeed very fortunate
I extremely need a break to rejuvenate. My commitment is to have little goals which sometimes I achieve and sometimes not.
Take the break. What are you waiting for?
I have considered – several times lately – taking a sabbatical from my job. My brother, who is a University Professor – does this on a semi-regular basis, and it really seems to rejuvenate him.
Unfortunately, in my profession, these types of opportunities are not offered nor encouraged, so I have never been able to experience what this would be like. .
Give it to yourself. Professors do give it to themselves.
Yes, you always need to take some time for yourself, some “alone” time. This year I want to focus more on traveling 🙂
I love this message. Plenty of yoga and solo time for me. We shine for the world by spending ample time solo, to accept ourselves and our beauty as we are.
Ryan
Well said! Solo time is food for the brain and our creativity. 🙂
Such a beautiful post!!! We all need time to rest, to replenish and to rejuvenate, yes i can’t agree more with you. Great read.
I think it’s so important to take a brake and enjoy life. Great and motivating post as always x
Laura
Thanks so much for this post. It is just what I needed to read right now. I really need to give myself a break before I burn out.
Taking a respite is not being selfish. It’s actually the opposite for when we are healed can we only be of better help to others.
I needed to read this! I need to learn to rest and relax from time to time!
Respite is so important to having a clear mind. Sometimes you really need a break to recharge!
So many people find it hard to be alone with out feeling lonely. This post helps greatly in planning respites and getting the most out being alone.
Yeesss just the motivation I needed!
I completely agreed with your point that we need a period of rest in our busy lives; it rejuvenates us.
This post is so on point! Often times we get so caught up in life that we forget to take a time out and breathe. We forget to relax! Peace and meditation is good for the heart!
I have set out to get control over my health through my diet and exercise. I am also working on not procrastinating. 🙂
I’m about to start my two-weeks vacation, respite, and rejuvenation. We just got to Florida and will be here for two weeks, including a few kid-free days while my husband and I are at a board gaming convention followed by a week at the beach with my whole family.
Sounds heavenly. Enjoy the vacation!
Oh, this is interesting! The concept of Motivation Mondays does sound interesting, especially for us women who are always on the go!
I always envied school teachers who got the summer off and could spend it at home or traveling.
Whenever I need moment of peace. I come to your blog to read the most beautiful poems that bring peace to my soul. Thanks for sharing them.
Sometimes a break is definitely needed. I liked reading A Moments Indulgence by Rabindranath Tagore
I too agree that moving can be a very good time to clean things out and refresh your life. I have too found that over the years in one way or another I have accumulated things that really dont serve my life anymore and instead just clutter up my home and my thoughts.
I feel that if I don’t get enough alone time I just don’t function well. I like spending time alone.
I Love this post. It’s so true, we get so involved with the day to day activities and life happens, before we know we are tired and stressed about things that we don’t even know. It’s always good to take some time to rest and reflect and that sometimes brings you to purge and let go of some material and internal things. Thanks for the reminder to respite and be still.
it happens to all of us… true.
Great inspiration here! Taking a break is good for the soul.
That’s what I’ve been doing these past days after sem 1 of uni! Always make time for yourself.
I think it’s so important to take time off and relax. It boost you and you can continue with more motivation 🙂
Laura
Such an inspirational post!
I took a job sabbatical that became a whole new life on another country – can totally vouch for taking a break from your usual schedule being one of the most transformative things you can do for yourself!
This is beautiful motivation, I hope this could implemented to other people.
Right now I’m on sabbatical and spending all time on blogging, reading and writing. As long as you are financially well planned taking a break is actually relaxes body and mind.
It is so important to be able to take a break from the world and life and times and just have peace which surrounds you. Congrats on being able to pare down your things and live more simply. I have a hard time giving away things of my daughter as well. It’s not easy.
Love this! It’s so important to take time for yourself! These days time for myself is few and far between , but it makes me appreciate it more when I do get some respite time!
I’m always trying my best to commit to change. Staying the same doesn’t allow for growth. Thanks for the much needed motivation!
Taking a break is important for me and also is listening to my body. I have a day in the where I just rest and enjoy my bed as I recharge my body battery. People have said I am lazy but it is important to be lazy too.
This post was a much needed read! I really need to take more time for myself to rejuvenate and recharge.
I think and agree its important to look after our bodies, to rest and not push ourselves too hard all the time
Rest is important for our mind and body! Everyone works so hard today, and we need to be reminded to take a much needed break now and then! So thank you!
This is so awesome and such an intriguing read
Respite…rejuvenation…it’s something most of us need to do better for ourselves. If we can’t think of ourselves, then think of the people you support. You’ll do such a better job at helping others if you can help yourself, too.
I always feel like I am a better worker and way more productive after I take a period of rest!
It truly is so important to take a step back and care and nurture ourselves once in a while both mentally and physically. Your post has definitely inspired me today.
This year I really need to change my eating habits. I love food for someone, I have to love my kids enough to stop this before it consumes me.
I love this quote by Sidonie Gabrielle Colette: “We haven’t yet said all we wanted to say to each other… May we have a little respite, or else may we be allowed to begin all over again!”
I also think often we think we are in charge of time and fail to say or do what we have to say or do. When we realize that it’s too late.
Respite for me is taking a break on the weekend and doing things I love or spending time with my family. It used to be all about work but not anymore. I’ve stopped being the hamster on the wheel and have now become a butterfly that stops and smell the roses.
I understand taking a respite, or letting go of things. However, I would be frantic if I lost designer items LOL. Xo, Nikki
We can all use a break from something at some point in our life. I’ve never taken a sabbatical, can’t afford it.
The New Colossus BY EMMA LAZARUS…wow is this the famous poem that is always quoted? I never knew nor read in its entirety. What a treat!
Yes, it is. 🙂
Your post never fail to inspire me, I can always feel the uplifting and the gratitude. I hope to never missed your next post. This is a great read.
I’ve always valued time on my own rather than thinking of it as a burden. It’s a time when I can just be myself, uninterrupted. Time to think and to reflect and most importantly for me, time to read peacefully and just enjoy the solitude.
Thank you for your motivation! It gives me a hope to do better for myself and others
Taking a rest from time to time is important, you need to rejuvenate your psyche and your body, I didn’t have a proper rest in weeks xD and I cannot wait for a week time off to just spend at the beach.
Yes it is always advisable to take few moments away with self. Nice thoughts
taking time to pull yourself towards yourself is imperative for good health
It is so important to rejuvinate. I work so much that I often feel burned out and have now realised that I need to take some time out.
Yeah….every once in a while, I do take a leave. What happens there, though….is a story for another day, sadly!
Hahaha. 🙂 I can only imagine
We all need to take breaks, for our own sanity, and for those around us. Not slowing down every once in a while can lead to burn-out, and other negative factors. Summertime is the best time for respite, in my opinion.
My husband is thinking of taking a short sabbatical just to take some rest and rejuvenate himself! And I think, he has taken the right decision. Great post as always ☺
Respite is such an interesting word. My husbands work gives people a sabbatical after five years of work and you are not allowed to not take your vacation. I am very thankful for it.
I am thankful for companies that insist on it too.
Your professional career is like a marathon and a sabbatical often helps renergise and gives a fresh perspective.
Love the bit about finding moments of rest. I definitely need to work on that!
Our bodies need periods of rest, relaxation and rejuvenation to flourish.. So true. I think most of us guilty of knowing this and not following it
Hmm I thought I commented already but I don’t see it here anywhere. Anyway, I think it’s really important to get away now and then. Even if you’re just getting away by going into your deeper self, you know?
I think takes breaks and vacations makes people more productive. I know that it really helps me.
I think not having enough rest for both mind and soul is a huge disadvantage of our age. Our life is too fast and we tend to forget our basic need just embrace the other goals. that is just not right
I like the concept of respite much better than the trendier “self-care” that seems to just entail taking selfies of yourself in your nail salon of choice. This really spoke to the need to put on one’s own emotional oxygen mask before helping others.
You helped me realize why I am feeling so sluggish. I haven’t taken time to rest and rejuvenate in about a month.
Many of us don’t think we need to take a break and rejuvenate. However, it’s so vital to recharging our batteries for that relentless daily routine.
I definitely need a ME day, or weekend. I need to just be alone. Get away. Focus on me and no one else. That’s hard for me to do these days but my husband is amazing and can sense when I really need that time.
It’s important to take some time to rejuvenate and recharge so that our energy level goes up and we feel ready to take on new cjallenges.
Thank you for sharing this beautiful post. All we need is positivity in life..no matter what. A right frame of mind and right attitude will go a long way.
You are so right! Our bodies need rest. I plan to take more rest going forward. I need to break the addiction with the grind.
Loved the poem by tagore. He is one of my favorite writer. And true, without rest we become robotic and dull. Timely rest is necessary to re energize ourselves.
Such a great post! I lower my stress by living minimalist lifestyle and spending lots of time in nature. Different things work for different people, the key is to find the ones that work for you and to be able to do those on the regular basis.
I love this poem by Steve Goodier, it so deep and so true. I’ve been in such a low place lately and I think its mainly because I need a break or vacation, some time to myself and after seeing this again I think this is another sign. Great post.
Please take care of yourself first… respite is necessary
Respite is so incredibly important. Yet, so many of us need a reminder to take that time for ourselves. Thank you for the reminder and motivation!
I agree that we need periods of respite. I am taking a break this weekend to celebrate Canada Day. We went to see that Tall Ships down at the harbourfront.
I haven’t taken a sabbatical but my counselor did when I was in the final stages of earning my PhD. I had taken time off for the divorce and then he took time off when I was returning and he said no one was avail. to take my dissertation over. Talk about panic at the time. Threw me for a loop. I don’t blame him though, I think in certain positions a sabbatical is productive, and for the rest of us, it would just be plain awesome.
Yes, it is very important for all parties involved. 😉
It is such a great point that you make about taking a break and decompressing to rejuvenate.
I’ve been downsizing too. Too much needed stuff!
Being a mother of two and work at home mom is not easy and most of the times I forgot to eat my meal or even having a rest because of my busy days. I find it wrong, now I understand how much busy your are we should have take a rest or break for us to recharge ourselves and mind to do our task more better and efficient.
I always love readin your blog. So motivational and encouraging. taking a breather is important. taking a break from routine and spending time at home with family is fun and actual quality time
This is a very inspiring post, I follow a few of the ones suggested by you already but I will slowly try to adapt these in my daily life as much as possible.
Great post. Raises a lot of questions for me about where I am and what I want to achieve.
Love the Steve Goodier´s quote! We all need to take moments to enjoy, relax and just be in the preset! Completely agree that by removing the excess we can open doors to new experiences!!
Rabrindra Nath Tagore is one of my favorite authors, it’s a beautiful article and burnout is now a medical condition, this write up could not have been more apt. We all need respite.
At one point in my life, I really had that “break” from everything especially from social media. Sometimes, we just need a reboot or a restart as we have those “stress” that we need to eliminate.
After an injury and multiple issues with IG and Twitter I took a week of that I’m just now returning from and I must say the time off was much MUCH needed. I think as ambitious humans we get into a grove and forget about the importance and need of self care.
True… I’m enjoying my time out
Everyone needs a time to get rejuvinated. Love this.
Great topic. In a world that is so fast paced we need those solitude and respite moments to be able to reflect and recharge.
I honestly feel as if this upcoming semester I want to take a break from working so that I can concentrate heavily on my blog but I’m so afraid.
It is so nessasary that one has to have a moment or two respite because just like the robots human breakdown too due to stress, hard-thinking, and over walking ourselves, this another great post and I look forward to reading more.
It’s so important to take time to rest and relax. Great post!
I have so much going on right now that I def feel like a hamster on a wheel! Ir eally need to take some more time to respite
What a timely post. I recently suffered a running g injury which is forcing me to rest, something that would have prevented the injury. Respite is something I need to honor more often.
Wishing you a speedy recovery.
wow how I did not know this exists
I believe by getting away from work and letting the mind get involved in thinking, hobbies and rejuvenation, you come back to the job and produce results faster.
A very good article! Having a leave and take a rest from our work really is essential, we should get some refreshments for better performance when we get back to work.
Worth reading the post and thanks for sharing..😊😊
The Steve Goodier is really great! Great motivation!
It’s important to have breaks once in a while so you won’t overload under the pressure of all this you are juggling.
I love these type of mindfulness posts! I just started meditating at night to help shut off my brain and sleep more soundly and it totally works! Thanks for this reminder to make self-care important.
I think I would have had a panic attack if i misplaced a bag of those scarves! bravo you for having the right mentality!

I’m currently making a lot of changes in my life and it’s kind of overwhelming. I definitely need to sit back and calm down a little bit!
As long as we are alive we can always start over and begin with a new page. I love how motivating this post is and I’m sure people are uplifted.
I plan on taking a sabbatical once i reach that stage in my career
Taking a break relaxes body and mind. I usually take small breaks in between instead of taking long vacation.
This is really great 🙂 Thanks for sharing!
We are so used to pushing ourselves that we do forget to take time out and let our bodies relax, but I guess it`s because of today`s life and commitments, we are so consumed with consuming and the result is that we have to produce more, earn more.
This is a really informative post, I really appreciate you sharing, I just hope more of us will accept that taking time out to rejuvinate has it`s positives.
This is so great! I love motivation monday 🙂 Thanks for sharing!
Now that my kids are grown, it is a lot easier for me to find time to relax and recharge.
The goal is to give respite and support to the care givers and to be able to keep people in their home as long as possible 🙂
I definitely agree. Choosing to be alone does not always mean your lonely. There are a lot of times i prefer to be alone and i guess thats also because of my personality. But being alone gives me time to think and take a breather esp with my line of work where i have to interact with people on a daily basis.
I can certainly understand your need to pare down your possessions. I would have a hard time editing my book collection.
We hardly get time in our busy lives to relax! Taking a break to rejuvenate oneself is so important. It not only nourishes mind but sooth our soul too!
I totally agree that our bodies need rest. To be honest, I have been feeling so tired and burnt out the past few days and seriously thinking of taking a break.
‘I can be alone without being lonely!’ That is so true! I personally value those moments I’m alone because they are such beautiful moments of reflection and connecting with my Creator.
It’s always about the go go go and I find that this constant “go go go” leaves me feeling unmotivated and stressed sometimes (esp with blogging) I think a respite is much needed to rejuvenate, refresh and come back with new ideas and a fresh mindset.
I hear you… Same here
Great inspirational post, I agree being alone doesnt mean being lonely. There is a big difference!
I love the Steve Goodier quote at the top! Taking time to be alone is so important for me. Also, I understand the hassle that comes with moving/packing/unpacking. I moved into my current house 3 years ago and we JUST unpacked all of our boxes
As an extrovert, I sometimes forget about time to myself until I’m feeling overwhelmed. Even those of us who like people sometimes need alone time
This post definitely strikes a cord with a recent decision I had made. I’ve spent so much of my life “collecting” things I liked and also in not taking time for myself. Now, we live in a smaller apartment. There are 4 kids. And life has changed for me. I can no longer so many things I loved. And there isn’t space to appreciate what I have collected. So I’ve started thinning out my treasures and am back to seeing a doctor to try and “fix” my health. It isn’t easy, but it is making life more enjoyable somehow.
I wish you healing love and blessings. When we simplify, we see the magic around us.
I love the Emma Lazarus poem! Thank you for sharing it!!
I found this post very interesting. My body needs rest, more than I give it!
The rat race is just purely savage, one can be trapped so easily without knowing. Allowing oneself to relax and reflect is never a bad idea, in fact it’s the best investment one can make for ones self. Being alone never means you are lonely!
Love your response. 🙂
The message is so great, sometimes we really need some ” me time” without being alone.. Meditation does a very great help to that.
Sometimes you need to clear your space (and your mind) of things that no longer serve who you are. I had no idea you worked in retail before.
Yes, and I left all my money in the store… hahaha. 🙂
Great motivational post. Perfect timing! I have committed to change my lifestyle this year.
Of late, I am getting fed up of too much stuff too. It feels so much better to enjoy what I have without craving any more.
I love the quote you put with the photo collage. It really resonates with me.
This one is a great post and I love reading them one by one. Wow
I would love to join this! Your posts in my feed are very inspiring.
Your independence as a person as opposed to your independence as a nation is an interesting point to ponder. Independence as a free thinking person is certainly a cause for celebration.
I love your article especially the last quote from Tagore. I am from India so I can relate to his qords. I love his creations. Actually I am a trained singer of many of his compositions.
This year is going to be a year of change to me. Not much information yet to share but I am hopeful. your post is filling me with inspiration!
Happy to hear that the transition has been a success. Can’t wait to read more about the new place.
finding balance between work and rest is a challenge especially in today’s busy busy world! This is a great reminder to take a break!
I can tell you I’m certainly not getting enough rejuvenation time at all. Will be sure to plan some into my schedule for this weekend. It’s been too long! Thanks for the motivation to do so 🙂
Finding quality respite care at a cost you can afford might take a little time. But once you do, you’ll wonder how you ever managed without it. Having an extra set of hands so that you can run errands, go to an appointment, or just take a break to do something nice for yourself will work wonders for your mental health.
I could really do with taking some time out right now – but life is so hectic… I need to find some time to just relax and do nothing!
This is something I need to focus on a bit more, so thanks for writing this and bringing it to the forefront of my mind!
Seeking personal respite is so important to maintaining a clear mind. I try to seek respite for myself daily after completing my tasks for the day, giving myself some quiet time to unwind.
I love your Motivation Mondays! It reminds me to take a bit of a break and regroup myself.
As usual, your post was refreshing and made me thing. I do need to take a break, a breather just to relax and recharge. I agree and I should do it.
Designer labels used to hold a place for me too. These days, not so much. I have become far more relaxed in the last decade or so when it comes to such things.
Same here… I still love them but don’t buy them as much.
We all need breaks from time to time in life I think. Sometimes we just push ourselves to hard. Thanks for the great reminder that I need to step back sometimes as well.
Yes, we need that rejuvenation time.
So so true. We are rest and sleep deprived these days. You had me at Steve Goodier’s quote at the start.
Respite is a self-care practice that I think everyone needs. Lately, I have been so stressful physically and emotionally. Taking a break help me grow and to remember where my life is headed!
Taking a break or respite is so important for health reasons. I need to plan some time away.
The best thing about reading your blog is me getting really motivated.
I am a very big fan of your blogs.
Keep up the good work
I’m a fan of yours. The sentiments are mutual.
I take as many breaks as I could during the day.
Agreed! Taking a break is essential. I always feel more motivated after taking some time off.
I often forget to give myself a break. Respite is so important! I took a mini vacation recently and it really cleared my brain and helped me do my job better.
This is what I need. Rest. Actually I’m looking forward to going on a vacay in two weeks because I feel I just need an escape from work. We need that from time to time.
I have taken a long leave from my work, and my life, back in 2011, and then another one in 2017. I always seem to end up with burn out and not reading the signs that lead to it. And I never learn… it’s Saturday afternoon and I’ve been working since 9am….
It’s very important to recharge and revitalize your body. Your physical and mental health should always come first!
Taking time off IS a priority. When we free our mind of daily noise, calm inside, some of the most creative and the best comes out of us.
I always try to find some peace through being alone, meditate and whisper short prayers. They give me this solitude in times of worries.
