Motivation Mondays: Love & Laughter
“When you awaken love and laughter in your life, your mind lets go of fear and anxiety, and your happy spirit becomes the healing balm that transforms every aspect of your human experience.” Jesse Dylan

Motivation Mondays: Love, Laughter & Healing
If you can love, and if you can laugh, totally, wholeheartedly, your life will become such a bliss and a benediction, not only to yourself but to everyone else. You will be a blessing to the world. Osho
Feelings aroused by the touch of someone’s hand, the sound of music, the smell of a flower, a beautiful sunset, a work of art, love, laughter, hope and faith – all work on both the unconscious and the conscious aspects of the self, and they have physiological consequences as well. Bernie Siegel
What gives you love and laughter? My question is really about our own personal enjoyment not what we get from others around us or in our lives. If you were left on an Island by yourself, what will give you love and laughter? It’s an interesting point to mull over because we spend a lot of time with our own thoughts, ideas and jokes and if we can’t tap into it during tough times, we miss an opportunity for deep reflection. We create the first underpinnings of meaning by creating it in our inner life. Some see it as day dreaming, others as the healing love we give to others by imagining ways to serve. However you choose to envision this, make sure to make time to love yourself, laugh with/at yourself, and seek outlets for rest and healing. I take walks regularly on my local aqueduct and during that time, I might listen to music, an audible book on tape or just the sounds of nature around me. Sometimes, a person walks by and we exchange a smile, at other times it might be someone I know and we share a laugh. On occasion, it might be someone hurting with a sad look on their face and we exchange a knowing glance of concern and hopefully send each other wishes for healing. But all of those emotions and reactions begin within us… same goes for anger and rage. They all serve a purpose and the key is to move forward once the matter is addressed.

A Story: A River Without End
Some years ago a successful American had a serious identity crisis. He sought help from psychiatrists but nothing came of it, for there were none who could tell him the meaning of life—which is what he wanted to know. By and by he learned of a venerable and incredibly wise Master Teacher/guru who lived in a mysterious and most inaccessible region of the Himalayas. Only that Master Teacher, he came to believe, would tell him what life meant and what his role in it ought to be. So he sold all his worldly possessions and began his search for the all-knowing Master Teacher.
He spent eight years wandering from village to village throughout the Himalayas in an effort to find him. And then one day he chanced upon a shepherd who told him where the Master Teacher lived and how to reach the place. It took him almost a year to find him, but he eventually did. There he came upon his guru, who was indeed venerable, in fact well over one hundred years old. The guru consented to help him, especially when he learned of all the sacrifices the man had made towards this end.
“What can I do for you, my son?” asked the guru.
“I need to know the meaning of life,” said the man. To this the guru replied, without hesitation, “Life,” he said, “is a river without end.” “A river without end?” said the man in a startled surprise. “After coming all this way to find you, all you have to tell me is that life is a river without end?” The guru was shaken, shocked. He became very angry and he said, “You mean it is not?”
“Laughter heals all wounds, and that’s one thing that everybody shares. No matter what you’re going through, it makes you forget about your problems. I think the world should keep laughing.” Kevin Hart

Motivation Mondays: Love, Laughter & Healing
Seriousness is a kind of disease: it is the cancer of the soul. . . . It is only through love and laughter and a tremendous joy in life that you start feeling the presence of something that is beyond. Osho
The best things in life are free. And it is important never to lose sight of that. So look around you. Wherever you see friendship, loyalty, laughter, and love…there is your treasure. Neale Donald Walsch
What role does humor play in YOUR life? I’ve always enjoyed a good laugh and it could be at my expense. Laughter has a way of breaking the ice and relieving tension when we are taking everything around us so seriously. Sometimes, we open the door to other people’s negativity and stuff, and we forget that the rage or anger they are expressing has more to do with them and less to do with us. We have control over our reactions to situations and we can choose to see the humor in it, the intended message or our own warped version of the facts. When we take a moment to step back, humor can help us gain perspective and it is a natural healer. So, instead of waiting for others to give you permission to have a good laugh, see it in your own life. I recently read Tiffany Haddish’s book and it had me laughing out loud. Mind you, some of her stories were painful and mind-shifting yet, in some of the darkest moments … she injected humor or found something that added a layer of ironic humor to her experience. We can reach deep inside of ourselves to tap into the humor that is bubbling under the rage, we need to practice listening and loving ourselves more to get there. Just live your life with a balance of love and laughter and, on those cloudy days, you will understand it. Come back for the rest.

To me there is nothing more sacred than love and laughter, and there is nothing more prayerful than playfulness. Rajneesh
Don’t forget that in the midst of all your pain and heartache, you are surrounded by beauty, the wonder of creation, art, your music and culture, the sounds of laughter and love, of whispered hopes and celebrations, of new life and transformation, of reconciliation and forgiveness. William P. Young
Are you living your life or someone else’s? How can we live in love and laughter? I know that we all go through challenging experiences in our lives and how we choose to look at them helps us get through the dark times. Instead of wasting time being envious about how others are living their version of perfection, focus on living yours to the best of your ability. Recently, I was discussing with a close friend that one of the joys I derive from writing this weekly Monday post is that it helps me gain perspective; it reminds me to step back and move with a bit of lightness in my step. I share the things I need to learn and what I am experiencing on a topic I’ve been reflecting on, so having a public forum to exchange views with readers is a great opportunity for us all … yours truly included. That said, I read an article recently that raised some very helpful pointers that I know will help all of us on our journey. Psychology Today suggests that we can increase our love and laughter quotient and enrich our lives if we incorporated the following principles into our lives:
- Look for the good and be the positive.
- Learn from mistakes but let go of past what-ifs.
- Laugh whenever you can, especially at yourself.
- Learn to listen and listen to learn.
- Lift up others.
- Lead with grace.
- Lose with faith.
- Live with hope.
- Love.
All are excellent principles to help us move our lives forward and I invite you to lift yourself up and enjoy a good laugh… it can be the beginning of healing old wounds for you. More on this later!

Love, Laughter, And You by Harry J. Couchon Jr
Three things that make my life complete
Are love, laughter, and you, my sweet
The laughter has lasted since day one
Loving you darling, has been so much fun
Whether it’s giggles at the kitchen table
Or all out laughter wherever we’re able
Each and every laugh, a symbol of our love
You’re my everything, all I ever drempt of
Our love, now that’s a bit more serious
Shining through when our laughter is delirious
Starting the day with love’s tenderness
Saying goodnight with a sweet caress
Love, laughter, and of course you.
You bring into my life the other two
From the day we met, and for every single day
Love and laughter in our lives will stay
Have a happy, peaceful and productive week ahead!

Loved the Kevin Hart Quote! Also loved “Imagination Is More Important Than knowledge..” quote.
Ahhh what would the world be without laughter and real love. I actually had to pause and really think about your question above Elizabeth. What would give me love and laughter if I was stranded on an island all alone. The love bit was easier but what would make me laugh if there was no-one to laugh with. Mmmmm that’s a really interesting question. Hopefully there are some crabs on the beach. Their sideways scuttles always make me laugh and how they duck the waves, but besides that I’m not really sure.
100% agree that laughter heals all wounds! There is really nothing like laughing and healing everything in your life and forgetting all you worries.
The things that have brought me love and laughter over the years has changed with each season of my life…. now my children and the path life takes us makes me smile and brings me joy…
This has really cheared me up lots. Laughter is a great way to relax the mind and let go x
i love this message! we should start every day happy!
xx jen
I watch a lot of Korean variety shows these days, and they really get me ROFL. 🙂
Laughings is such a great stress reliever, i wish i did it more. I also like the choice of Statue you feature, from my hometown.
Laughter is an important part of staying happy and healthy. Thank you for your encouraging words.
Awww.. this is so inspiring. Right now, I am really focusing on my happiness coz it already affected my mental health. I am also slowing down in social media because it contributed a lot with my issue.
Laughter is the best medicine to heal any wounds 🙂 i agree, it will allow us enrich our lives with positive energy
I love all the questions posed in this post. What makes me happy and laugh – my family.
If I were alone on a desert island my love and laughter would come from thinking of my family, thinking of all the silly things we’ve done together. I agree, when times are tough you have to use the resources you have to keep you going and those are the best two!
Somehow reading this, I thought about this poem: “It’s dark because you are trying too hard. Lightly child, lightly. Learn to do everything lightly. Yes, feel lightly even though you’re feeling deeply.
Just lightly let things happen and lightly cope with them.”
-Aldous Huxley
What a great thought to ponder – what would give you love and laughter if you were alone on an island. For me, faith and nature would be high on the list.
I love that story and the poems you added! I want to feel loved and laugh everyday.
Nice statues. They truly are laughing and yes, laughter is very good for the soul.
Lifting others and spreading love, I feel are so important to our happiness and others.
I totally agree with you love and laughter gives you a healing in any kind wounds. Thank you for sharing this with us it is very inspiring post.
It’s always said that laughter is the best remedy! This was a lovely and uplifting post to read!
This is why I am never anxious! Because I am ALWAYS HAPPY and laughing!!!
I love motivational Monday posts – what a fun way to kick start your week!
I absolutely love the quote by Jesse Dylan and I hope I can remember it! If I were on an island the love would come from memories and maybe a few laughs, although, I think I would laugh more at the things the animals do. Pure unplanned funny things make me laugh like a squirrel acting like he is cussing out the trunk of a tree.
Our life can change the moment we learn to love unconditionally and laugh wholeheartedly. Loved reading the principles that can help us lead a happy life.
Love and Laughter, mine are my kids. I have four little ones, so we are very busy but very blessed!
Laughing is really a cure for me. When I have down moment, I watch my favorite TV Show and it will instantly make me feel better. Though, I also laugh alone at tiny things ^^ If I am ever left on a island I am pretty sure I can find something hilarious with what’s around me. I am what my friend calle – a good audiance ^^
Hahaha…i love your reply
I commented on this picture on Instagram and your Facebook that I thought this was a cool collage. Love and laughter are the keys to a happy life.
Thank you.. and i agree.
Humor plays a big role in my life. Iove, love, love to laugh. I do agree with you, we really do allow people to inject negativity in our lives and it affects us.
Humor helps me a lot. 🙂
I always believe that love doesn’t hurt you and others so when it gets to that point, that’s not love. So instead of being envious about other people’s issues, better live life with love and laugh everyday. With humor and love, one is definitely able to overlook negative criticism you bet!
Thank you for this article elizabeth, it comes in the right moment! Life should be lived with more joy and laughter.
I think for anyone who’s into positive thinking, the first step is learning how to laugh at just about anything, even ones mistakes.
Humor plays a huge part in my life. I don’t think life will be exciting without laughter and love. They’re two of the things that fuels our humanity. It’s really important that we keep these close to us.
another great and thought provoking post. I use humour most days in my work as a trainee clinical psychologist – sounds odd but sometimes the work is so dark you have to laugh or you’ll cry! Clients can like it too and its great when you make people smile and laugh.
i used to be really good at just enjoying life and laughing all the time. But as I get older, its harder to do! I need to make an effort to have more fun!
Your posts are always so inspiring and have some fantastic teachings. I love reading them and feeling positive energy from them.
Such a brilliant article! Indeed love and laughter can heal everything!we don’t need anything else !
I love this topic – what is life without laughter. I for one love laughing … it just instantly improves me mood and relives stress.
same here!
Thank you for all the great information and telling us the upcoming events. I love all the photos they are gorgeous. Your writing is amazing!!
Grateful for the feedback
Love and laughter are the two keys to my happiness 🙂 I truly do try to look for the positive in life –– the silver lining can almost always be found.
if we make some effort, yes
Some days are harder then others. I find myself constantly asking myself what makes me happy. I think if you really focus on making yourself happy and stop putting the burden on others you will be a happier person!!
I can see how …
Love and laughter are essentials in life. Kevin Hart is right, no matter what language you speak, everyone laughs and we all need to (even if it’s at our own expense).
We do benefit
love and laughter are really imprtant to us. It is one of the best feeling that we should have.
it sure helps…
Your site is a breath of fresh air. Thanks for motivating us when we need it the most.
Glad you enjoy your visits!
As we grow older, we become seriously, target oriented and lose our funny bone somewhere down the line. Life becomes serious and living like this is no fun…it’s an ordeal. Good post.
I concur.
They say laughter is the best medicine and its true, and it also gives a domino-effect. When you always laugh and happy with someone, eventually we realized love is growing!
I like that idea.
As they say, laughter is a the best medicine. I find love and laughter through my family. They are always full of sunshine and laughter.
That’s wonderful!
Such a lovely round up! The story of the guru in the Himalayas is funny & serious at teh same time. Especially I have family in Himalayas .. Haha.. I am going to return to this post on Monday Morning so that I begin my week with the right tone. Thanks for sharing <3
Loving, being loved and laughing are sure important to everyone’s wellbeing. For me my friends on family, customers and colleagues and some tv shows and blogs offer some good laughts. 🙂
I do try to find the humor in some situations, especially when they only slightly pertain to me. I’ve grown up trying to do a good job and it’s hard not to take things personally. I need to learn to treat the situations a little lighter instead of diving right into what I did wrong.
It’s so easy to forget nowadays how to smile, stay motivated, stay loving. We as children smile about 400 times a day, and once we are adults that goes down to about 10. Incredible isn’t it? Finding your reason to smile throughout the day can change your life
I can’t live without humour, trying to imagine an all serious life is quite terrifying actually. the love yourself is something I’m struggling with but I guess it takes baby steps to conquer it.
Love and laughter in an integral part in anyone’s life because that differentiate human beings from animals. I feel that life without smiles and laughs would be so monotonous and we all will become like robots. Therefore, I try to spread love and happiness around people I care!
Thanks for this beautiful reminder! I completely agree, laughter and humor are such great forms of therapy.
Those photos made me smile for sure. That’s a great way to make me feel better. I love laughter to help my soul feel happier!
I cannot imagine a world without laughter and love! I think it’s going to be dull and lifeless. Laughter is such a stress reliever even in the most darkest of our days. And love, well, love is definitely integral. It fuels life!
People tend to forget that smiling and laughter can fix most problems. Love this blog! It actually brought a smile to my face ahah
If I get left in an island all by myself… Hmm.. First, I’d prolly laugh at my misfortune THEN laugh more at my upcoming misadventures. Then again, I’ve always prefer to travel solo whether in an island (that’s not secluded lol) and abroad. Throughout my travel I always find something amusing and I love most of them. Like that time when I horded a convience store in Japan and the people were just giving me these weird looks. Good times. Good times.
As they always say, laughter is the best medicine ever! And with a smile and laugh we can tackle any problems in life.
Laughter and Love are things that I always wanted to feel everyday. It always help me to feel better each day.
I definitely need more laughter in my life. I realize I’m living stressful times at the moment and I don’t allow myself to relax and have a good laugh!
The post of the smiling pig made me smile! Also, I love all of the poetry that you post on here. They bring me so much joy and always have a grounding effect on me.
What a beautiful post and topic, love and laughter are the cure to almost everything. Love and laughter makes the life what it really is for, that is to LIVE.
I have some food for thought now wondering what would give me love and laughter if I were alone on a desert island. Until that time though I find that reminders to be grateful every day make me happy.
I’m a positive person so this quote, “Seriousness is a kind of disease: it is the cancer of the soul. . . . It is only through love and laughter and a tremendous joy.” really stuck out to me more than any other. Laughter is like medicine and in this day and age we all should be doing more it.
I do need to let myself laugh more often. I have a lot on my plate right now and get so caught up in all my work that I get too busy to enjoy life.
When i was younger, around the age of 9 I started being uncomfortable in my skin, I started feeling that I wasn’t good enough. I wasn’t worthy.
I started to hate myself and the more I felt that the more I felt the world around me hating me too. Kinda feel bad thinking a girl of that age should even feel this way! That was the beginning of depression that still stains my life. It took me years suffering that self hate and around the time I was 13 it feels like one day I got up and started accepting myself but by bit. Started loving myself and the world around me started to love me too. We are all we have. We need to love ourselves more and find happiness in the simplest of things. I loved your article <3
If you have pals with whom you can laugh and play, nothing better than that. I love the photos you have used in your post. Well written.
What s great way to begin the day. Love the reminder that laughtervreally is great medicine, and Love is what life is all about.❤️
How I wish there is a way to simply unlock the feelings of love, smiles and laughter with our own will at any time. If it feels good, it feels good. No middle ground!
Learn from the mistakes but let them go. Gosh why does this sounds so easy yet the task so difficult. I have been struggling to let go of a lot of my mistakes lately. They have kinda been consuming me. Thanks for the remind to simply learn and let go.
Laughter is the best medicine. It heals all. I am working on being more happy. We need to pay more attention to our mental health.
Finding happiness is so different for everyone. We all have different things going on in our lives – often there are a lot of things that make it more difficult, like negative or toxic people. So overcoming things is a big part of it.
What a terrible world this would be without laughter. Just smiling makes a person feel better.
Laughter is surely the best medicine, I personally feel that every person has to smile and laugh as much as he can in a day
The above principles are touching and beautiful. I also like the quote from Kevin Hart. I have been trying to lose the negative thoughts I think and hear and replace them with positive ones of love and kindness. Instead of 6 family members just had to move in with me due to an emergency a friend blogger reminded that thankfully I had the opportunity to offer them my small, although, safe home. After hearing that I wouldn’t have it any o
other way.
Love and laughter is so important in anyone’s life! I can’t imagine my life without my family and friends!
Thank you for this motivating post. Love and laughter are really strong powers. I could not imagine my life without them.
Love and laughter are so important in life. And you are right – laughter does heal. It is the best medicine. I adore laughing!! 🙂
it is definite, laughter is the best medicine <3 thank you for your inspirational and insightful words
What gives me love and laughter? My grandma – listen to her stories always makes me laugh and fills my heart with pure joy. Life is to short to be taken seriously so we need to make the most of yet and having a good time is definitely a must.
I enjoy a good laugh as often as I can get it. I try to avoid people that are too serious because of this very reason. Lovely post
Humor is such an important part of our lives. We love these powerful images that you chose too. Keep on laughing. 🙂
I’ll be having Tiffany Haddish’s book on my list now. I love to laugh too, and I agree, don’t wait for an excuse. Laugh until your heart is content. 🙂
I always enjoy great Monday Motivation posts! But laughter is always the best medicine!
I just love laughing, it makes life so much more enjoyable when you don’t take things too seriously. It’s so essential for me to surround myself with people with a good sense of humor and who can all laugh together.
Great post! It’s also good to have someone to laugh and love 🙂
Do you have more explanation for the story of the River without End? I don’t quite get it, though I really like it!
I always love heading to your site to read it, as its so motivating especially on a bad day. Love and laughter are the best medicine in life.
Laughter is really the best medicine. As someone who suffers from severe depression, a good laugh really helps. I also try to remind myself that I have to much to live for like my fiance, my kids, and my grandbabies. Thoughts of them always put a smile on my face.
Love and laughter are just two of the best simple pleasures life has to offer. Love this theme
Laura x
Awww!!! Lovely:) It is very therapeutic and healthy:) I wish everyone has humor and happy even in times of bad days. Including me especially!
xoxo
Ophalyn @letmommybe
So true, the passage is so sweet. I will definitely agree, that even how hard a situation is, but because of laughter brought by love, things become lighter for us.
Love and laughter are my best medicines whenever I feel sad or if I have something I worried or stressed about. When I smile and laugh I feel relieved and feel positive in life!
I truly believe that love and laughter heals everything!! Laughter is def a cure all…its contagious and even if you didnt feel like laighing just hearing others will make you smile and want to as well
I have always loved to laugh! I even laugh out loud at books and movies when I’m alone. It just feels natural and good to physically manifest my joy in that way.
love the dates you shared all worthwhile and so meaningful
I’m really at that stage in my life where I am so interested in looking for the good and being positve in every circumstance
My kids fill up my heart with love. And they can also be really funny and we laugh altogether as a family. Especially the little one–she always cracks us up with her brand of humor. 😀
