Motivation Mondays: Grow & Blossom
“Challenge yourself, grow, blossom, and become who you were meant to be. Don’t ever stay at a job solely out of convenience or comfort. Aim higher, even if that means pursuing another job that’s just one step closer to your ultimate goal.” Carolyn Aronson

A flower cannot blossom without sunshine, and man cannot live without love. Max Muller
Any human anywhere will blossom in a hundred unexpected talents and capacities simply by being given the opportunity to do so. Doris Lessing
If you want to be truly successful invest in yourself to get the knowledge you need to find your unique factor. When you find it and focus on it and persevere your success will blossom. Sydney Madwed
How Do we Grow and Blossom? With summer upon us and blooms blossoming everywhere, we can’t help but imagine how these abundant changes impact our lives. We hear the adage to bloom where we are planted and for good reason. When we invest our time and effort into planting fertile seeds in the ground, we expect them to bear fruit. By the same token, when we put great effort and commitment into projects that matter to us, we reap the long term rewards that come with our hard work. But we must be vigilant and patient. We cannot plant and let our eyes wander or abandon our ship for more verdant terrain. Like the peach tree and the many flowers we see blooming their colorful hearts out, it took time and effort to get there. So, put in the time and nurture your work to help its growth. An important caveat to remember is that everything happens for a reason and in perfect season. Don’t fritter away your effort by watching the clock. Do the work and let the rest follow.
From Blossoms BY LI-YOUNG LEE via poetryfoundation
From blossoms comes
this brown paper bag of peaches
we bought from the boy
at the bend in the road where we turned toward
signs painted Peaches.
From laden boughs, from hands,
from sweet fellowship in the bins,
comes nectar at the roadside, succulent
peaches we devour, dusty skin and all,
comes the familiar dust of summer, dust we eat.
O, to take what we love inside,
to carry within us an orchard, to eat
not only the skin, but the shade,
not only the sugar, but the days, to hold
the fruit in our hands, adore it, then bite into
the round jubilance of peach.
There are days we live
as if death were nowhere
in the background; from joy
to joy to joy, from wing to wing,
from blossom to blossom to
impossible blossom, to sweet impossible blossom.

Be honest, be nice, be a flower not a weed. Aaron Neville
When the flower blossoms, the bee will come. Srikumar Rao
Just imagine becoming the way you used to be as a very young child, before you understood the meaning of any word, before opinions took over your mind. The real you is loving, joyful, and free. The real you is just like a flower, just like the wind, just like the ocean, just like the sun. Don Miguel Ruiz
Why Commit to Blossoming? It started with that poem above; From Blossoms BY LI-YOUNG LEE. It was posted on the wall of my local yoga studio and I made a copy for myself because the words spoke to me on many levels. There was a wistful yearning to the poem and it was a keen visual reminder of the growth of things we enjoy and remember. Summer time peaches are sweet and juicy and very satisfying… the smell and taste linger. If we pause to ponder where our delightful experience came from, we would, like the poet, recall the love, time, and effort the farmer placed on producing the succulent fruits we enjoy. The same applies to our lives and goals. We set out with a vision, apply our skills and do the heavy lifting to reach our goals; when we do bear fruit, it is a sweet reward for our gardening effort. Our work will produce a harvest for us and others to enjoy so, don’t give up. Grow and blossom where you are planted.

Motivation Mondays: Grow & Blossom
Every flower is a soul blossoming in nature. Gerard De Nerval
You’ve got to be one that, wherever you are, like a flower, you’ve got to blossom where you’re planted. You cannot eliminate darkness. You cannot banish it by cursing darkness. The only way to get rid of darkness is light and to be the light yourself. Cory Booker
How long will this take? What difference does it make? It makes no difference how long it takes because the process is different for each of us. It is the journey that matters more not the destination because when we finally get there, everything will fall into place and make sense … enjoy the journey. Instead of wasting time counting the days and hours, stay focused and present on the task at hand. Enjoy the process and do the work with love and commitment. Don’t get caught up in envious nitpicking. Don’t waste your time casting aspersions on others as if they don’t know what to do. Do YOU. Be your own guide to the door of light and venture in there. Don’t squander the day with distractions or excessive day dreaming. Actions are far more powerful than plans. We can plan but we must ACT. Go do it! Remember patience and compassion are necessary tools on the journey!
Have a happy, peaceful and productive week ahead!

Lovely post about growing and blossoming. I’ve learnt that even in adversity we should learn to grow. you cannot blossom without growth.
this read was really motivating and great start for the week, i liked the poetry especially
What a lovely, inspiring post and that poem is beautiful.
That poem is so beautiful! I love peaches and the analogy of blossoms with life goes well.
Lovely article! To reach our dreams we must challenge yourself, grow and never be afraid of thinking out of the box. Be yourself and be proud of it. Reach your dreams and work hard for it. 🙂
Reading such inspiring post weekly help me to grow to be a better person and blossom. Love the fruits picture this week 🙂
Love your comparison in growing and blossoming to flowers and plants! So true and so good to always keep in mind. -Tonya Tardiff
This is such a great post and I love that beautiful caption. Don’t be idle in one thing, strive more and aim high to make a better you.
I am in the middle of a blossoming experience right now as I am experience conflict at work. I just told a co-worker this morning that if we don’t experience conflict, we are not growing. I can’t nitpick everything. I must focus on my task at hand and making sure I am getting the job done and staying out of office politics.
I love this so much!!! We should all try and reach new goals and help ourselves blossom into the best us that we can be!
Great message! Too many people think they have to be in a certain place (physically or mentally) before they can reach their full potential. Instead, we should try to do our best with what we have right now.
I love this whole post. The poem was beautiful.
Sometimes we want thing to happen right now – immediately. I’ve noticed that things work out better when we are patient and let things “blossom and ripen” as you mentioned.
I am committed to personal growth. Everyday I should be a better person than I was yesterday. That is the only way to blossom I believe. Lovely post as always.
What an inspiring post! Monday motivations are my favorite. There is nothing better than starting the week off on a positive note or with encouraging affirmations.
I think it is so important to explore and know oneself. Without challenge, we would not know how strong we are and what we can accomplish.
Such a beautiful poem! I think we all forget to allow ourselves to blossom sometimes.
Love the gorgeous and vibrant colors of your photos! The idea of blossoming to me is all about allowing ourselves to unfold and live our purpose. Your post is inspiration to consider this deeply. Xo, Evelyn, PathofPresence
It can be easy to get impatient when you’re waiting for something to happen or trying to achieve your dreams. It’s important to stay grounded and to keep going.
I love everything about this article, the content are all beautiful most especially those inspiring quotes. Let a man be blossoms first by giving them the opportunity to do what they can do and to give what they can give.
beautiful post! I think Summer is the perfect season to smile and laugh more often! The weather is great and this is the time for vacation and relaxing. This is the time to be even happier…and keep that feeling for the other seasons too
I totally agree with you about aiming higher. We shouldn’t be doing the same thing over and over again for the sake of convenience. Having an ambition and pursuing your dreams is important.
I loved this post! I really resinate with “grow blossom bloom where you are planted” such lovely motivational quote.
Why commit to blossming? Because that makes you a nurturer. It makes you a person who cares. In the end it makes you empathize and love.
Truly said that in order to grow and blossom one needs to go through challenge. Because anyone can live. But to make an impact in life one has to accept challenges and succeed.
I think we all blossom at different times and in different ways. I love the quote “Every flower is a soul blossoming in nature”.
Great motivation for not staying stagnant in life. Very well written- thank you for the motivation!
I have to admit, I feel like I grow and blossom every day. I mature and move on from things I used to stew over in the past. It’s interesting to really take note of how I change as I get older.
I love your strong words for motivation. Planning is just the first step towards action and that also involved making sure that you really know yourself beforehand.
I love this poem that you shared – reminds me of the peach farm that we visited while we were vacationing in Korea. 🙂
I love your first quote, this is so true I was in a job I hated I used to be in tears on a Sunday evening at the thought of work the next day, in the end I handed in my notice with no other job to go to, but was the best thing I ever did x
This was truly beautiful. A lot of people are so afraid to challenge themselves weather it be mind or body. It’s how we grow and adapt.
I love the message here. Feeling so motivated. We all should aim to grow and blossom in life.
Fresh fruit is one of my favorite parts of summer. I love when everything is in bloom and then is ready to eat.
The quote from Carolyn Aronson tugs at my heart and inspires me to take opportunities for growth as they present themselves. I also love peaches and those photos bring back memories of childhood summers and sweet ripe and juicy yellow cling peaches.
It’s so easy to get into a rut but I agree, we should always be trying to better ourselves. Very motivational as always!
Ooooh! Those peaches look sweet enough to eat! How delicious!
It’s a very nice poem. ‘become who you were ment to be’ – hm, that’s a toughy, especially since I finde that this may vary over the years.
Thanks for some much needed mid-week motivation! It’s been a beautiful week weather wise though so that also really helps me to stay positive and motivated.
I love this quote about becoming whom you’re meant to be. It is such a great reminder to follow your dreams and find yourself. Thanks for sharing!
Hi Elizabeht! Your article fills me with motivation! your photos are amazing and so colourful too!
I always love your choices of inspirational quotes. I’ll have to save that poem for a day when I’m feeling uninspired.
Such beautiful pictures! I love the message behind the blossoming also.
This is a great post! And inspiration to blossom.
Challenging yourself is a biggest task you can do to stay motivated each day… We need daily motivation as like bathing so thanks for running such a motivational blog!!!
wow what a lovely and encouraging message – challenge, grow, blossom and be the best version of yourself
I couldn’t have said it better myself. It’s something that we should all focus on so that we can improve as human beings and as individuals. I think growing and blossoming is essential to a meaningful and fulfilled life.
That’s a very interesting poem. Did you write it yourself?
I absolutely love the quote you shared and the beginning of the post. Thanks so much for sharing this beautiful message (:
Summer time is the time when I try to grow even more. The sunshine fuels me so much and allows me to be more introspective about myself, things I’ve gone thru and where I desire to go.
Very interesting. This is a subject I have never heard of.
Wouldn’t it be amazing if we could all be the beautiful blossoms we were meant to be. I think somethings our own negativity stunts our growth and we forget how important it is to give ourselves the waters of positivity and light. Loved reading this post Elizabeth, thanks so much
A very inspiring and motivating post. Sometimes, what I’m trying to figure out is what’s holding me back to pursue what I wanted, then once I think practically then there comes my doubts. I had so much things that I still wanted to do.. thanks for this article.
The quote is something I need to remember every single day it will ehlp us to start our day right! The photos are so colorful, I love it.
There is so much positivitity within your post. The following quote struck me the most:
“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.” Elizabeth Appell
Thanks for sharing this true words of wisdom.
It’s true actions are far more powerful then plans. I find I don’t manage to carry out many of my plans so have been trying to do rather than plan to do things when I can.
This post is a wonderful reminder of how important focusing and fostering our own growth is, and that it is possible to continue to grow. None of us is stuck, with the right mindset and motivation we can grow and reach our goals. Have a great week!
I love the motivation you shared. Our souls are to blossom and spread goodness to everybody else..
Thank you for this reminder. I just came home from my parents’ house. I am still in the process of dealing with my emotions towards my mother. But it seems, thankfully, God has helped me navigate and sift through my feelings. I am feeling like I am experiencing a rebirth.
I think we are forever growing and forever evolving. While doing so we need to also let our personality shine through, as you said, blossom.
The first quote is so perfect! I walked away from a 15-year career to try my hand at something I actually love!
As always, such a motivational post! Its good o be out of your comfort zone!
Beautiful sentiment to meditate on. I’ve committed to blossoming and you’ve inspired me even more to persevere. Thank you for the uplifting food for thought!
you are right, in the end we’re not just “animals”, we’re also plants and fruits of the hearth and we have to blossom and grow until we can give the best of us
Growing and/or blossoming requires us to get out of our comfort zone! I think that’s the key point that people need to understand. In order for us to grow, we have to be comfortable with being uncomfortable.
I love how you turned blossoming into a metaphor. You’re absolutely right, we have to put in time and nurture our work to grow.
It really warms my heart to read and look at these blog posts. I love the creativity and message you always have, to go along with the theme.
So important to bloom where you’re planted and enjoy each moment as it comes!! Love the bright and colorful collage this week, too!
This is a fun creative idea! I missed out on this month but would love to see what kind of fun Motivation Monday idea you have for the rest of the summer!
In order to blossom in life, I do agree that we all should stay focused and present without wasting time on meaningless matters. Life is too fleeting!
I love this. I feel like I need to remind myself that I need to grow and blossom as well in order to truly be the person I am destined to be!
Se manifique moments captured. Great views and vibes.
You really impressed with all your motivational post. I love the bright colours in this photo.
I agree that in order to grow and blossom, we should always step out and challenge ourselves each day.I love that poem and precisely the fact that it all takes time; for even the best seeds to blossom , it takes time so for a fact, patience and vigilance is key!
You asked how long does it take (to blossom) and you replied why does it matter? That reminded me of the poem Ithaka by Cavafy. “As you set out for Ithaka
hope your road is a long one,
full of adventure, full of discovery.” We truly shouldn’t pay attention to the duration, but to the journey itself!
I love the idea that blossoming requires risk. It’s so true that anything I’ve accomplished that I’m proud of required risk and stepping out of my comfort zone.
Nice post, I like thinking about growth and progression and is something I strive for.
Yum! All of that fruit looks so good, and yes – blossom and grow in your own way. Such great ideas and thoughts!
The pictures of fruit made me hungry lol. I luckily bought peaches just yesterday. Thank you for sharing your photos.
Oh we love this Motivational Monday quote. We should encourage everyone to grow and blossom.
I totally agree with this one: enjoy the journey and don’t count the days and hours! Sometimes it can get quite hard to stay focused and present! It takes a lot of practice to be conscius about it. It’s important to stay present all the time and to be grateful for everything we have! We are so blessed and we should bloom all the time, not just when we are “somewhere”!
I didn’t fully understand the art of blossoming until I reach the age of 28. I was very competetive and so driven that I forgot how to blossom naturally in my own time. Now, I am taking things one step at a time and it feels amazing. This is very inspiring.
So much inspiration and motivation!! Loving this post so much! Happy weekend to you!
Xoxo,
Angelle
I love the pictures and definitely the pictures of the peaches. But I also agree with you that you need to do what you must to commit to blossoming in your life if you want to thrive.
These are such great positive posts, and we know we need more positive light in this world. I love the Don Miguel Ruiz quote.
This is another beautiful post from your Mondays motivation edition. The message is powerful and a great reminder that we need to challenge ourselves and expand our horizon! Loved all your pictures too!
Don’t forget your most important garden, your People Garden.
Tender shoots need the greatest care, young saplings need support.
The budding and the blossoming witnessed with wide-eyed wonder.
The Bible says “As you sow, so shall you reap.”
In my Mother’s eulogy, I had the honor of inviting all those present, thusly:
“Look around you now, all these faces, all these tendrils.
Look and see the Fruit of my Mother’s harvest.”
Seek peace,
Paz
I am always up for a little nurture in order to blossom and grow, especially more so now that I am a mother.
To blossom and grow, is a theme i will work on committing to henceforth. Thanks for inspiring once again. Love your blog posts!
To keep growing, and one day you will realise that you’ve actually blossom! I realised I tend to forget that I am actually “blossoming” in the eyes of others!
Truly spoken it’s always the journey that matters.
You are right that abundant change affects us but not abundant any little change can affect us. As usual I loved your monday motivation post.
I have a quote in my wall that says “bloom wherever you are planted.”
How? Do the work, and the rest will follow. This is really inspiring!
I’m all for growing and blossoming and motivating yourself to not be where you were before.
Growth and blossoming is something that I am deffo looking more into. I need to grow more as a person in a positive way.
I absolutely love the saying “bloom where you are planted”. You don’t always get to choose each area of life where you are “planted” sometimes, but you do get to choose the attitude you will have while you are there.
This is such a great reminder for us to make use of the blessings we were given. Not only to improve ourselves and be the person we are destined to be but to reach out and help others as well.
I love the sayings on this post! Thank you!
This is a great post. And it is not only implying to blossoming of plants but to us people too. I agree that for us to blossom, we need to get out of our comfort zone 🙂
Totally agree with you! I love taking up new challenges every now and then. That’s only how you know what you like the best and what suits you the best!
I was never one to let comfort keep me stuck in a job. Or anything else.
You always choose such pretty and nice photos and quotes. Your posts are truly a source of inspiration and also I think they drive people to think.
“Be your own guide to the door of light and venture in there”, it’s so true.
I do really need to remember to challenge myself daily and become the person I was meant to be. Far to easy it is to just lay back and not do things. But you have to put in the effort if you want the growth.
This spoke to me about time. There is time to plant and there is time to reap. Plant, nurture be patient and let bloom. Enjoy the moment and reap good fruits. Thanks for the reminder.
I am working on being kinder and more thoughtful. My experiences shape me and teach me what others appreciate in a friendship. It’s a work in progress
What a lovely poem 🙂 and some very motivating and inspiring quotes 🙂 Love all the imagery you’ve used in this post too Elizabeth! x
I agree. We need love, as much as we need air and sunshine and food. Without love, we exist, but not live.
What a lovely poem. Inspiring post comparing with summer blossom. We should keep
patient and work towards the fruits or goals.
You know what? Your post is making me hungry. I love fruits. This is like a buffet from my perspective. haha
I agree, the process of different for everyone. Being envious or comparing is a waste of time.
It’s always nice to read your article and get inspired, one way or another. Sometimes, we get uninspired and we forgot to be on the go. Reading these helps to motivate!
Always a lovely read, Elizabeth. “Blossoming” can be a frightful thought, especially if you have been inside your comfort zone for so long. I have been that way once before, but I realized my potential when I took that first step out of my comfort zone. Happy to be what I am now, even if life has been difficult, I found fulfillment in letting the real me shine through.
I used to be so bad about trying to do too many things at once. Then I realized that it was not allowing me to be effective at anything! So now I try to focus on one priority at a time.
Good post. I love the use of the term blossoming — it is an apt description of what happens as we learn and grow. It is the journey that matters — but we really have to remind ourselves of that. It’s hard to do!
Yeah….always swim against the stream! That’s my life principle as well 🙂 I believe that freedom can only be achieved this way…
Beautiful post! I think we need to challenge ourselves at least each year, if not each season, to grow and learn more about ourselves.
I love this blog post and every now and then come back and read it. This really resonates with me ‘You’ve got to be one that, wherever you are, like a flower, you’ve got to blossom where you’re planted.
Great post! We ought to challenge our self and blossom towards new experiences and every day is a new day for us be alive and continue to seek that there’s more to life.
Love this post. It’s so true that instead of settling and being complacent, it’s better to always be learning and growing and pursuing our dreams and ambition!
I love that Max Muller quote: “A flower cannot blossom without sunshine, and man cannot live without love.” It’s so true! I couldn’t agree more 🙂 x
Nature, I always love nature. Flowers and colorfuk fruits. It is really relaxing and trully nature’s work of arts
Agree, it’s important to be involved with projects we’re passionate about and we will blossom.
I believe that if we do not make efforts to grow and always become a better version our ourselves, we spend our lives without making any difference. And that is sad! As the flowers we plant grow and bloom, we should do the same.
