Creativity is a continual surprise. Ray Bradbury
The moments of happiness we enjoy take us by surprise. It is not that we seize them, but that they seize us. Ashley Montagu
Writers are magpies by nature, always collecting shiny things, storing them away and looking for connections of things. John Connolly
For this week’s photo challenge, we are to consider what our “Ooh Shiny!” moments or attractions consist of. It could be anything but I chose the path of least resistance because I am drawn to shiny things, especially during the holiday season. I find that to be the time of year when all the brightest, shiniest lights and decorations go up, and the dazzling array of creative displays fire up our joy and get us ready for the holidays and all that comes with it. I included more than my share of bedazzle but I must say that all those bright, even garish, colors lighten my spirit. Are you easily attracted or distracted by shiny things? I guess it depends on the time of the year and what’s involved.

A lot of times, the inspiration for a novel is a messy bird’s nest of shiny things. Little things that don’t make a whole lot of sense or that, no matter how hard you look, cannot be found directly in the finished book. Molly O’Keefe
Are you easily distracted by shiny objects? Well then, welcome to my collage of Christmas, and Fall Holiday lights and bedazzling actions past. Do stop by for an introduction to the less obvious inclusions. Yes, Rockefeller Center is heavily featured here but, what do you expect? During the Xmas season, it is lit up like Vegas and everyone loves it.
This post was inspired by a prompt from WP Daily Post: – Ohh Shiny – For this week’s challenge, take a moment to explore shiny things. What about you: what is guaranteed to distract you? What is your “Ooh, shiny!”?
Positive Motivation Tip: Enjoy the sparkle and add your good cheer to the mix!

Beautiful collection of photos! I love the reflection of the lights around the apples. Well done.
The pictures are so beautiful! I love that water fountain – where is it located?? As far as shiny things – yes, I’m very distracted by them. I went out of my way to go to the Swarovski store in Paris and it was well worth it just to enjoy all the shiny furniture and items.
I also love bedazzled, eye-catching things. Your photo collection is amazing and I was surprised to be drawn to the blue water fountain. Not sure why it is my favorite, but it is!
I would love to own a tiffany style ring with a shiny large diamond! Oh, goodness. Vanity strikes again. Seriously though, I would be happy to see a shiny bright star in the night sky and stare at it for the longest time. It gives me a sense of calm and wonder what it is really like out there in space. I like your photos of shiny things too!

My husband and I attended a wedding this weekend. I couldn’t help but think of this as I read your post. How, I came into my brand new, shiny marriage with my cookie recipes, my perfume, my funny stories. My shoulds, my expectations, my ideals. Then I realized that it takes time. That it takes determination. That it gets hard before it gets easy. That the glitter wears off. That, most of all, it’s so very worth it. x
Awesome! Oh shiny! Beautiful collage of photographs! Take a bow!!!
It is always nice to see bright shiny things at night. Always a challenge to take a good photograph of city lights and make them look breathtaking and beautiful

I have always loved light shows, especially the ones at Christmastime. All the little shiny lights look like stars in the night. You did have a great collection of photos with the “shiny” theme. I was particularly drawn to that chandelier. It looks spectacular!
Rockefeller is stunning and dazzling during that time of year. I’m definitely captivated by those shiny lights when walking the streets there! Your collection here makes it feel like Christmas in July (now August) 🙂
Holiday season is my favourite season by far, like you I am also drawn to shiny holiday decorations. I put mine up in October already, and only take them down end of Jan, so that I can keep the shine a little bit longer
Awesome Challenge. I also do love Shiny stuff! They that say our fascination with shiny objects in due to a deep need. Do you think this is true?

Yes indeed, I get easily distracted by shiny objects or glitter! I love when it shines, i just don’t dare wearing it or using it as house decoration.
Beautiful pics, and fun challenge. We love taking Disney pics for our site, and always looking for new challenges.
I absolutely love chandeliers! The way the light reflects off of it. Decorative tree lights are probably one of my favourite parts of the festive season.
The festivities of the holiday season offers a lot to be cheerful and grateful for. 😉
There’s definitely something alluring in shiny and sparkling things. It’s not only kids but it holds true even to adults and older ones.

I love all things glittery. I’m normally not that girly, but shimmer and shine appeal to me. That’s probably why the holidays bring me so much joy.
The holidays make me anxious but I love sparkly lights. 🙂

They are shiny alright! I would take loads photo of my daughter because she shine up my day. And my sunflower growing on my balcony!
Those man-made shiny decors and things are amazing, but of all the things that shine, it is the sun that I adore the most. It always reminds me of God’s love and promises.
