There is nothing permanent except change. Heraclitus
Change is the end result of all true learning. Leo Buscaglia
Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything. George Bernard Shaw
Without change there is no innovation, creativity, or incentive for improvement. Those who initiate change will have a better opportunity to manage the change that is inevitable. William Pollard

Delta = Change or difference: Everything around us is in constant motion, and with that comes change; steady, inevitable change. We can embrace it or fight it but, it presses on. Sometimes, change is stark and harsh, destroying everything in its path. At other times, it is subtle and gentle, nudging the process forward like the maturing of fine wine. Even when we think we can slow it down or speed it up, it has its own innate intelligence; a certain knowing that the time is ripe for X. We live in a youth worshiping culture where the young want to grow up fast and the old wish to turn back the clock with surgical and faddish procedures. But like Tempus, Delta demands to take precedence over all else. It is the same with the weather; somewhat unpredictable, changing at will as we tag along with instruments at hand and hope in our hearts. How is change manifesting in your life?

Every human has four endowments – self awareness, conscience, independent will and creative imagination. These give us the ultimate human freedom… The power to choose, to respond, to change. Stephen Covey
Wherever you are, be there totally. If you find your here and now intolerable and it makes you unhappy, you have three options: remove yourself from the situation, change it, or accept it totally. If you want to take responsibility for your life, you must choose one of those three options, and you must choose now. Then accept the consequences. Eckhart Tolle

What scares you about Change? When we come to terms with our power to choose our attitude, we can begin the process of getting on with living our lives, even in the midst of changes we abhor or accept. There’s a popular saying that “change is good” but is it really? If you asked a wizened Sage, you might hear “Neti, neti” – meaning neither this nor that. If you examine your life, you might add that Change A was great while Change X was a nightmare. In the middle of it all are the lessons learned, the teachings passed on and the acceptance it was neither good nor bad… it just is.

Change is just following the natural progression of life and whether we like it or not, it continues its march… Enjoy the shifting winds and seasons and let go of the need to control outcomes. As the photos above show, I walk by the Hudson River quite often and at different times of the day. Every time I walk by it, I ask myself: What has changed today? What looks different? I take my smartphone, load the camera, and capture a new experience in a familiar space. That is a Delta moment and there will be many more. Even though the river looks the same, there is much that changes above and below…

This post was inspired by a prompt from WP Daily Post:  DELTA  —  For this week’s photo challenge, share a picture that symbolizes transitions, change, and the passing of time. This week, share a photograph that signifies transitions and change to you. It can be the very beginning of a phase, or the very end. As you pick up your lens, explore the ways in which a single photograph can express time, while only showing us a small portion of any given moment.

Positive Motivation Tip:  Change is inevitable, embrace it.

      • It’s a pleasure to be in touch again and always a pleasure to read your words. I remember when you got your first Freshly Pressed. It was about a concert you went to. • I think what scares most people about change is the unknown. But life is always shifting. We just need to remember that the type of energy we give off and the things we think about most are the experiences that are drawn into our lives. If I were to take photographs depicting Delta Change, I would take an images of graduation, marriage, a family at a baseball game, and an elderly couple holding hands while walking in the park.

  • Change can be amazing but it can be scary as well, I do try and embrace it though these days. I love the changing skies in your photos.

  • Wow! Stunning photos! It amazes me how we can come up with such different personal meanings to these words!

  • You captured the changing sky so perfectly! I can really see how the clouds and sunlight change.

  • This a great photo challenge. The pictures are amazing. I guess change is a bit scary because it’s new and you don’t know what’s gonna happen. But that’s also what makes life so excited, isn’t it?! xx corinne

  • Change is one of the hardest things for me to do, unless I choose to do it myself. This is a geat reminder to embrace the necessity of change and thrive when it happens.

  • I was from a military family and I married a military guy, so I go through LOTS of change. We move every couple of years. I’m used to it now, but in the beginning it can be tough.

  • Very pretty photos, I love sunsets. I think people are afraid of change because it’s the unknown.

  • Change is usually a good thing even if we don’t think so at the time. In retrospect we can see the benefits that have come from change.

  • I learned a new definition for an old word! Thank you!

  • these are all great photos and the sunset looks incredible. i love them. change scares us and its a mixture of the unknown and also being vulnerable.

  • Change doesn’t usually scare me. Sometimes I get so bored in the everyday routine that change is welcome. I know the best changes are the ones that force me to re-evaluate and grow. This is never the fun kind of change, but usually it is exactly the kind of change I need.

  • Even though we don’t like change, it is necessary and it could open up great opportunities for us. Thanks for sharing.

  • As I grow older I’ve come to realize that change is the only constant we can always depend on. We either embrace it and learn or try to run away and live in fear. I’m loving the pictures you’ve used to show change, it makes it seem so much less fearful

  • Absolutely gorgeous pictures of the sky. Your photography skills are amazing.

  • These photos are stunning! I absolutely love sunset over water or mountains — always makes a trip worth it 🙂

  • Change is always something I struggle with! But you’ve captured some incredible photographs. They’re beautiful!

  • Beautiful photos. It’s interesting how being at a body of water can bring out reflection and inner peace. Its as if we take on the characteristics of the nature around us. Beautiful post.

  • Lovely photos! i can never tell the difference between a sunrise or sunset in photos? How do you know?

  • I’m a fan of change. I like a change every few months, it keeps you from going crazy with routine.

  • I have never liked change, I really struggle with it despite the fact that I have spent so much of my life going through change, and even now our day to day life changes all the time. Gorgeous photos, I love the colours!

  • Change is the only thing that’s permanent indeed! Its sometimes scary and sometimes pacifying! But quite literally we just can’t stop it!

  • I absolutely love taking sky photos during sunset and sunrise. Sometimes I run outside of my house in the middle of dinner to snap a photo! Sometimes we really forget how beautiful and meaningful things are up there.

  • Change can be a fear people have. But if we stand still and don’t change then we don’t learn and grow, we hold ourselves back.

  • I think the sooner we learn to embrace change, the easier life becomes. After all the only constant in life is change. The sooner we accept that, the better prepared we are for whatever life throws our way. I just love these photos, just goes to show what a beautiful place this planet is.

  • I couldn’t agree more with the quotes you’ve selected here. And the imagery is absolutely stunning x

  • I embrace change, the natural process that is. I hate the change that is “imposed” on me. If that is the kind of change being presented, I always have to know the answers to the “Whats In It For Me?” question first.

  • very insightful post. it’s such a paradox that as humans we both fear and yearn for change. in general I’m a creature of habit but I’m trying to embrace change more and be less afraid! Rx

  • The only thing constant in this world is change. Our efforts to avoid change would be an exercise in futility. Change may be good or bad, but it is the way we see the positive in it, then it makes it easier to accept.

  • Change could be scary but one needs to embrace it. As the saying goes “nothing is permanent except change”. The only reality in nature.

  • The sunsets are the perfect way to express change. Isn’t Mother Nature the best? I look back on my life to the seasons where there was the most change. While they were incredibly challenging, I was far better on the other side. A reminder that not all change is bad .. sometimes we just have to tie a knot and hang on. x

  • Ah yes, nothing is permanent in this world except change. We just need to accept the fact that everyone needs to improve so we can change. Just work out on it.

  • Thoughtful post . Yes there’s nothing is permanent except change . Born , life and die is a life treasure and during this period nothing is immortal except change . Peace might approaching if we find a inner of acceptance .

  • Most of my issues with change involve work and recently yet another unwanted one has happened. This time I decided to try to accept it more quickly and it actually worked and I feel okay about it. I wouldn’t have chosen it , but it doesn’t matter in the grand scheme.
Hope all’s well with you my dear.

  • I actually love change, I love the hectiness and the constant movement of it. I think it’s necessary in our lives. BEautiful photos too 🙂

  • I already had so much changed in my life the last eight years that I am not scared of it anymore. Sometimes things change for the worst. Like my husband getting MS by example. I learned to see the silver lining in things. Love the pictures by the way.

  • If we dont open our eyes for the reality, we wont be able to find the solution. We should be aware of whatever happening to our surroundings, and accept the fact that change is for the better.

  • Change can be really hard but I always feel better after. These are beautiful photos of the sky. I love to take pictures of sunsets.

  • Change is always a constant. We can always adopt change and the faster we adopt the better we get.

  • I love the photos! Change is hard. And sometimes even I struggle with it. I like the comfort of knowing things are staying in rythym.

  • These are some amazing shots!!! I love this post, not only because of the pics but also because of what you said and those awesomely inspiring quotes. Change is something that worries me. I don’t get too freaked out about it when it’s time or necessary but sometimes you definitely need awareness of issues before you can accept that change neeeeeeds to happen. Sometimes you just need that push 🙂

  • What a great post. First comes awareness then acceptance. We have to be aware to accept.

  • Lovely post and lovely photos and really interesting theme for the photo challenge. I loved the quotes that you choose too, especially the Walt Disney one, I had never heard that one before.

  • Change is the spice of life. We cannot go on living with the same old routine all the time. Choosing the changing sky colors during a sunset is a good visualization of this phenomenon. However, to be positive I would rather show the changing sky colors during a sunrise. 🙂

  • These pictures are absolutely gorgeous! I love how you captured the sunset on the clouds. I struggle with change. Once I embrace it, all is good ❤️ One of my favorite quotes above is the one by Walt Disney…just focus on the future. Thank you for this reminder!

  • Change is the only constant. We cannot stop it, so it is always good to be a part of the change and evolve ourselves accordingly. That was a great post and pictures are stunning.

  • All of the beautiful skies remind me to take a break and remember what is really beautiful in life! We are going on vacation with the family soon and I cannot wait to just enjoy the scenery.

  • I don’t mind change. It’s not always easy but it’s important to be a part of it than to resist… Great post, pics etc.

  • Your photos are stunning, as far as the topic of change is concerned we all take to change differently some easily others find it harder .It all depends on the person personality.

  • Nice pictures of sunset/sunrise. I would have submitted something from a train station with moving train and some people waiting for the next train.

  • I don’t know if it is a blessing or curse that change comes easy for me. I think it is my Leo spirit that makes me desire to always do something different. I have a photo that is the example of change for me. It signifies spreading my wings and allowing myself to fly/reach all of my goals without fear.

  • I do agree that change leads to innovation and better life. Change is constant

  • All life is about change. Some of us are more comfortable with it than others though. My life is so different from what it was ten years ago it is almost unrecognisable. If you had told me I’d be doing what I’m doing now back then I wouldn’t have believed you, but things changed incrementally so I coped.

  • These are my favorite kind of photos, those of the sunset. I think the sky in that time is so beautiful and had something magical. I love all your photos!

  • I was drawn in by the amazing photography, which gets my attention every time. Then there was change. Whether you like it or not, life is perpetual change. I am currently in a period of deliberate and planned change, which indeed feels good. There is much anticipation and things to look forward to. However, the whole thing reminds me again of the changes that I did not so much appreciate at all. One day, etched in my memory, I had arrived at my job — before I got out of the car that morning, I sat there and thought about how much I truly enjoyed my work. Within the week, I was in a different department, which did not delight me at all, but somehow led to an even better work situation. Life is all about change and going with it or taking control, as the case may be. There is much to think about in this post.

  • It took me a while to catch what you meant when you said “delta”… Then I recalled the sign Δ and the mathematical symbol 𝛿 and I finally got what you are trying to say~

  • Nice write-up, change is definitely unavoidable, I agreed. But as for me, I am not comfortable with it.

  • I agree with you that change is the only constant in the world. But I also think that change is a neutral force as well. It’s not necessarily change that’s good. It’s how we choose to adapt to change that makes it good or bad.

  • I never knew Delta stood for change. Reminds me of Delta airlines and how they definitely need to change how they conduct business these days.

  • Change is something that I’ve always struggled with. I usually enjoy predictability, I think, because of all the instability in my childhood. I realize now that change is necessary and can be nice.

  • You always give such great nuggets when it comes to mindset. The reminders that so many of us need 🙂

  • I really like the quote in the beginning! Change can be so scary but its really important for growth and usually has a great result in the end.

  • I think what scares me most about change is the unknown. I tend to get anxious sometimes worrying about the unknown or things that haven’t even happened yet. When I really think about it though, some of the best things in my life have come from change 🙂

  • These are really great pictures and you chose great quotes. I really like the Walt Disney quote.

  • Change is the only thing that is constant in our lives. I used to be afraid of making changes, but now I welcome it with open arms.

  • Love that quote by Walt Disney: “Times and conditions change so rapidly that we must keep our aim constantly focused on the future.”Awareness is so important! Thanks for posting, very important topic

  • I think a lot of people fear change, but change can be good. Without it we cannot grow. And just like you say, it’s the natural progression of life, we cannot remain in one place forever.

  • Change is a constant force to be reckoned with but we shouldn’t be scared of it. Just like aging it is always with us x

  • I love views from the Hudson River, especially from the Brooklyn side. It’s very calming to see natural flowing water, especially in a big hectic city like NYC.

  • Change is the only permanent in this world. We have to adapt. Or choose to be left out.

  • I do not handle change well. It always feels negative to me even, if in the end, the change was beneficial. It is like my mind associates change with trouble. I have been trying to rethink it but so far no luck.

  • People are afraid of changes as changes give discomfort to our life. We need to adjust and adapt and face uncertainty of the changes we face. However changes make us strong and smarter.
