Photo Challenge: ORDER

Photo Challenge: ORDER – Prepped Veggies all in a row
There is order all around us; even in the littlest of things, the lines on a leaf, the striations in wood, the casual way we set our table or the prep work we do in the kitchen as we get ready to prepare a dish. All of life has a certain symmetry or order that pleases the eyes and stops us from imagining we have gone mad. Even in those moments where chaos reigns, we see signs of order and it pulls our eyes in. For this week’s exercise on ORDER, I was drawn to the vegetables I had on my kitchen counter. Like many cooks, prep work is fundamental to the process and I love to lay my ingredients out in an orderly manner so I can reach for them as needed. In this case, I was getting ready to make a vegetable soup and, as I washed and cleaned my ingredients, I was struck by the way they lay beautifully in the bowl and later on the tray. So, I grabbed my camera and took some shots. Later when I saw the challenge was on ORDER, I took some more photos… That’s life right?
“Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today, to get through this thing called life…” Prince

Remembering Prince ; a brilliant, extraordinary, musical genius
On an important and wistful note, today would have been Prince Rogers Nelson‘s 59th birthday. He left us too soon. May his music live as a legacy to his brilliance and extraordinary genius… I miss him. Recently, I read a few books written by those who knew him up close. I also read some articles that took my breath away. I would recommend the following.

Photo Challenge: ORDER – Prepped Veggies all in a row

Photo Challenge: ORDER
In all of life, there is an order that we sometimes take for granted. It only becomes apparent to us when chaos reigns or when some form of dissonance assaults our senses. When we take time to appreciate the beauty and symmetry of all around us, we can begin to understand that there is a dynamic and keen intelligence humming everywhere. As for the somewhat prepped vegetables that caught my eye in my kitchen today, I’ll introduce them to you. From the bottom up we have romaine lettuce, baby sum choy, radish, scallions, San Marzano tomatoes, Swiss chard, baby portobello mushrooms, and Napa/Chinese cabbage. The rows of Lemon Cake were shot at my local Sam’s Club. They are divine… I didn’t buy one this time. Perhaps you have a veggie recipe or two to share?
This post was inspired by a prompt from WP Daily Post: ORDER – Rows, stacks, columns: this week, share an image that sends chaos packing (neatly). This week, share your take on order, whether literal, figurative, or anything in between (and sure — showing it next to a healthy dose of messiness is fine, too). From library stacks to sock drawers and from ancient temples to modern train stations, let your inner disciplinarian take over. I look forward to seeing your photos!
Positive Motivation Tip: Appreciate the order around you…

I had to giggle at some of the store photos of things in bulk put in order. I used to love looking at all the things stacked in a row when I was younger.
I still do. It makes me marvel at the effort and planning that goes into those stores that are super organized.
OMG I still do too! I love looking at stacked fruits at the supermarket. It’s aesthetically pleasing.
Right? I totally agree.
all the veggies look great, the radishes look amazing and the cake YUM. the way everything is organize is pretty neat.
I love to see things neatly stacked in a row and that is why I enjoy walking the aisles of huge supermarkets… It’s fascinating. 🙂
That’s so cool. You never really think about things like that in the day to day motions.
I try… Thank you! Did you notice the rows of lemon cake? Yum
These photos are so pleasing to my eyes. This is a photo challenge I know I will have fun doing.
Then join in. There is a link to the group challenge page in my post.
Order is always important to keep a happy and healthy life. I love how you compared it to veggies!
Well, I just had my prepped veggies lined up and they looked perfect for the the challenge plus nature has its share of order. 🙂
My youngest son and I take “order” literally in our lives. We have a strong need to have things be even and symmetrical whether it is changing the order of the eggs in the carton as they are used, or rearranging decor.
Like mother, like son… That is so sweet!
Those veggies look so fresh and yummy, I’m actually thinking of dishes to cook with them as I write. The cakes on the side look very tempting, too. 🙂
Yes, they are fresh and colorful too. The Lemon cake was at my local Sam’s Club. I took the photo but didn’t buy one… too tempting. 🙂
I like the photos! They’re perfect for the challenge. Order is present despite it being overshadowed by chaos. We see order in how people stand together as well.
Sure… Order exists in everything and so does chaos.
Order is like the rule of nature. It’s very astonishing to see that everything in nature follows some order and each order has its own importance and reason.
Indeed. That is what makes our planet a magnificent intelligence! TY!
You have great organisation skill! I can’t even do it so nicely. Great job!
To me, there is something very soothing about order. I like patterns and symmetry. Maybe it is because the rest of my life has so much chaos. There are so many examples of symmetry in our every day life that we don’t even realize, and I think we are drawn to order because it makes sense to our brains.
Love the look of the fresh salad. I could eat it everyday and vegetables too!! We like our cakes too, hehe!!
I never knew that the word “order” could be so majestic! It’s true that we do often take order in the world for granted. Order is extremely important though, so thank you for the reminder to think about it and appreciate it in my life!
Nice photo. I live for order since I am a control freak. How’d the soup go?
I was thinking about your post today when I was in the garden. The rows are straight and everything is neatly planted, but I’ll sure feel a lot better about it once I’ve gotten control of the weeds.
Mmm, these veggies look tasty!
I try to have order, but I admit, sometimes it’s just not so. I really need to organize all the papers I have piled in the corner of the kitchen. There is NOT order there, I admit that.
If my son could read, he’d love this. He’s so keen to stacking and putting things in order!
I agree, order makes thing go smoother. It looks like you made an amazing soup. I am not that orderly in the kitchen.
I love order, although you’d never guess it looking at my house!! Love these photos. even more so the ones of the cakes! Yum!
Order indeed! And so visually pleasing that all the things are so well organized! xx corinne
It’s interesting how you can take something so simple and really turn it into a beautiful photo. All of the colors combined look amazing.
That is neat! Order is direly needed especially now that the world is somehow in chaos.
Your photos are making me hungry! Everything in life follows some form of rules or order. Even the actions we take, there is always an effect. This in itself is a form of order. It really is incredible.
Fresh veggies are awesome. Nice quote; it’s 100% true. It feels like the nature is following that order precisely and we are missing it.
Order is something that is somewhat of a challenge when you have two littles running around with a busy work at home mommy. It is true that there is order in symmetry in so many things around us every day though and I think it is so clever that you chose your salad ingredients for this challenge.
Order is so important to me. I cannot stand to have things out of order. It just makes me so upset not to be organized and have everything in order.
There’s a beautiful comfort in orderly surroundings and in orderly tasks. I love that you found order when arranging vegetables on your countertop. Lovely photos, lovely thoughts! Thanks for sharing this motivational inspiration.
Order is necessary to keep the world balance.I couldn’t imagine life without order. Agree that one shouldn’t take it for granted but to embrace it.
That’s pretty neat that your challenge happened like that. I love the photos, so maybe I like order. 🙂
There is nothing more beautiful than fresh produce. I think as Americans this is something we take for granted.
Veggies make me sad. I love bacon. Is there bacon? Cheers!
Veggies look great and your quotes are making them look special..Awesomely presented..
Seeing all these veggies laid out makes me hungry! I like how you order them to make it easier to cook!
The veggies look so fresh! I love it! very colorful I think I have to cook veggies for dinner tonight!
It’s beautiful how chaos and order go hand in hand with each other, there’s chaos in order and vice versa. I like how the pictures describe the theme though.
The word “Order” can be taken in so many ways. I, Myself, see order as a calm word. A way to get my life together.
Order is really important, but not when somebody make you do some order in your stuff. I use to get mad when they do.The photos looks great.
Those pictures are so pretty, love the colors of veggies together, a beautiful metaphor to think about how order can influence things!
It makes me start to question whether order is something there naturally or whether we impose it upon our world out of chaos. Just something this topic made me consider. I would totally love to hear a recipe for all of these beautiful vegetables.
This might sound crazy but I love my life a little chaotic! I find I am at my best when in the middle of chaos, I concentrate and work harder. Might be just me.

I totally agree with you that order is everywhere around us in so many ways and forms. It makes our life a bit organized. Also, I liked how you have neatly organized your vegetables on the table and captured the shot!
I used to love putting stuff in order but my family takes pride in putting everything in disorder. haha. Seriously, if you take the word Order in a deeper context, can you imagine if the universe did not move in a certain order? No life could possibly exist if planets and stars keep colliding.
Veggies really makes me sad. I want bacon.
Awesome shots by the way.
Haha I like this whole vegetable-order analogy 🙂 And I love the Carl Jung quote – so true. Just a little thing – could you make the letters bigger, I really think this size is hard to real (and I am not that blind 😀 )
It’s funny because whenever I hear the word order I think of a movie quote where a kid says ,”my father requires semblance and order”. I wish i could remember the movie.
These are really great photos. Sometimes I also stack up either my clothes or books and other such things and then give a photography try to them.
wow those photos look amazing! i am super ocd with my photos especially if its for a recipe or something that requires order… they need to be perfect! haha. xo, sharon
Being prepared and making sure things are in order are key to success. Thanks for sharing and reminding us of these important lessons.
WOW i really needed that quote on happiness. Opening perspective.
Awww man so sad about prince. my fb friend cheryl loves him immensely too
I love your photos and how you compared order to vegetables. Order is very important for having a healthy life.
perfect veggies picture to speak on ORDER, a lot goes on in this post, from the quotes to the guitar image and the picture of prince but at the end the order in which its composed tells of the need for it all. nice post.
Symmetry is pleasing to the eye. If it’s yummy I’ll forgo it though 😁
nice post! the food from the pictures looks fresh and good! I agree with the text, order rules everything. thanks for sharing this

I was thinking the other day how 2016 took two really great entertainment giants from us: George Michael and Prince. George Michael was a hard pill for me to swallow because he was my everything growing up and as an adult. I miss him tremendously. Two voices taken away from us way too soon…
Lovely and very authentic pictures of these fruits
It’s true. I need order and routine in my life and when the order of the way I do things on a daily basis gets disturbed I get upset.
Order can be harder to maintain sometimes and at other times it can be easier. When I travel or have transition, it can be harder. But this is a great reminder to be okay with that.
Great clarity in the photos with the vegetables all looking nice and fresh. I wish I could say my kitchen is always organised and looking nice like that.
I miss Prince too, what an absolute legend. In terms of the challenge, I like to think that there is order in chaos. For example you could have a messy room but there is order because you know where things are!
I have to remember this post not with veggies but when I organize my tasks, things and goals.
Order is very important. If we don’t have that in many things we do nothing would be accomplished properly.
Aside from the photo, I just want to focus more on what you’ve written as it is very relatable. It is very important that we keep order in our lives. If we wont, we’re gonna miss out on a lot of opportunities and chaos will take over.
I did want to read the book his ex-wife wrote. I didn’t know about his child until after he passed. That was sad news. It’s too bad their marriage broke apart. It seems she has a lot of respect and love for him still.
You made me hungry looking at those beautiful veggies! Yes, we only realize order when there’s disorder! Love how you found order in the veggies as I don’t take that kind of time to study them lol.
Order to me kind of goes hand in hand with balance. Everything is connected with one another, and there the order is essential to keeping the balance. Great topic!
Wow what awesome vegetables, and I am impressed that an array of different vegetables got you to concepts of order and chaos. Very creative!
I love vegetables. Those vegetables look good to consume.
I love the way all of the vegetables look. Theres is nothing like having an order to things.
That photo makes my mouth water. You’re so right, about order. Though the world often appears chaotic, it’s actually very orderly and mathematical, which is amazing but also scary. The smallest thing can set it off..
What lovely looking produce. The organization of the produce is cool! Yummy looking cake, too!
Aaahhh order. I often crave order and as a result, I make sure my life and everything concerning me are in perfect order or something close. I find myself getting annoyed when things don’t occur for me in the order I planned. I’m finding ways to deal with that and go with the flow at times.
I am literally in-love with your first veggie photo. Its so natural and very healthy looking! You captured great photos, very professional.
YUM! Those veggies looks so great. I love how vibrant and colorful they are. I’m taking note of this quote “In all chaos there is a cosmos, in all disorder a secret order.” Carl Jung!
I love how you’ve put everything in a certain order. It’s exactly what I’d do 😀
Louise x
This is something we sometimes forget when we are surrounded by chaos. I know I was, I failed to find order when everything around me crumbled. It was only after the chaos did I realize that things had a certain pattern or order. BTW love the cake image!
I love this so much and your photos are great!
I love that quote by Carl Jung. Order is definitely something I need to work on more in my life. I need more organization and balance.
Those are some wonderful photos! Plus photos of Prince are always awesome too! =0)
I like order. I like to be organised, chaotic, erratic just doesn’t do it for me.
You have a ways with words, I find myself at time reading some of your post multiple times. If there are Authors out there looking for selections of new words to incorporate you post are them. Now this post. I love order, seriously I do. It was one of my favorite thing about my time in the military, The uniformity, the order the routines. Having order in one’s life can make things run smoothly. someone tell my children that) have order can simplify and speed of the processes of many things. In your case making soup. I’m sure it was much easier to prepare as you had everything were you need it and in the order you wanted to prep it for you soup. I love the photos, reminds me of one My grandmother had in her dining room it was all kind of fruits and Veggies, while they weren’t in order, the remainder came from how bright, fresh and vibrant they looks.
Oh Thank you so much Cia! I love order too as it keeps me balanced too.
Great post, This is a challenge where you will have fun doing it and i like quotes in this posts
I liked Prince’s music, all of it that I heard. I remember watching his movie. What carefree glorious days they were or maybe these are carefree glorious days and I’m to glum to enjoy them. Prince brought out liveliness with his music. He shall forever be missed. As for order – those pictures look how I would most enjoy my belongings around me, in my house.
This is a topic that can be interpreted in so many different ways. You made me think, order and disorder versus to order someone , and sometimes, it’s a sort of abuse. Balancing that is such an important yet overlooked element.
