Musings: Summing Up The Future in Five Words…

Spread the love

My past is my wisdom to use today. . . my future is my wisdom yet to experience. Be in the present because that is where life resides. Gene Oliver

Musings: Summing Up The Future in Five Words...Your best LIFE Starts Now...

Your best LIFE Starts Now…
What does the future mean or look like to you? What excites you about the future and can you use only five words?  Today I woke up feeling a little sad… What was bothering me? It wasn’t clear, until I realized how much I missed the excitement of the daily post challenge. How silly, you might say; get a life! I do and I have.

The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams. Eleanor Roosevelt

Musings: Summing Up The Future in Five Words... Maintaining PEACE remains paramount globally...

Maintaining PEACE remains paramount globally…
I’m a little blue and I understand that being present and moving on is important. Sure, but allow me a moment of silence, a feeble adieu, a last lingering glimpse at 2011, a silent thank you to what was and to what will be. I’m feeling blue and it’s not about you. The future waits; that is true.

“Do your duty and a little more and the future will take care of itself. ” Andrew Carnegie

Musings: Summing Up The Future in Five Words... LOVE overcomes hate and chaos...

LOVE overcomes hate and chaos…
No one truly knows what the future holds. We can speculate, predict, insist on logical outcomes based on facts, and in the end, we simply must be present… and that’s okay with me. Let’s Focus on Now!

“Life is no brief candle to me. It is a sort of splendid torch which I have got a hold of for the moment, and I want to make it burn as brightly as possible before handing it onto future generations.”  George Bernard Shaw

Musings: Summing Up The Future in Five Words... The Mayan APOCALYPSE skips December...

The Mayan APOCALYPSE skips December…
For all those waiting for the world to end in 2012, I suggest you live your life, don’t hold your breath, enjoy your time, and imagine a sunny day in 2013. Yes, 2013 will come to pass, and the apocalypse will make nary a sound as it tries to huff and puff and blow us out… We’ll skip its feeble hiss as we hug and share another New Year kiss. I’m excited about that. More below 😉

“As long as anyone believes that his ideal and purpose is outside him, that it is above the clouds, in the past or in the future, he will go outside himself and seek fulfillment where it cannot be found. He will look for solutions and answers at every point except where they can be found–in himself.”  Erich Fromm

Musings: Summing Up The Future in Five Words... Being PRESENT determines our future..

Being PRESENT determines our future..
I love the title of the painting above. It is called: Things of the Present in Front of the People of the Future… Sometimes I feel like we are living in a futuristic bubble… and that we are just not fully conscious of it. One day it might snap, crackle or pop and then it might never happen. For some, it won’t matter and for others = Be Present.

“Let him who would enjoy a good future waste none of his present.” Roger Babson

Musings: Summing Up The Future in Five Words... SUSTAINABLE ecosystems ensure we survive...

SUSTAINABLE ecosystems ensure we survive…
We talk a lot about a sustainable future and yet we don’t do enough in the present to ensure we reach the future… That giant carbon footprint is still out there as we use and abuse our ecosystem and continue our daily unconscious excesses… Did I tell you about the driver of a hybrid car who tossed a half lit cigarette out their car window? Hmmm.

PS. I’m thinking about Project 365 and might choose to Add a photograph each day with a word, caption, phrase, quote, poem or whatever... 😉 Will let you know.
♥Happy ♥New ♥Year ♥To ♥You! 🙂 ♥What are your thoughts? What does the future mean to you? What would your future in five words look like? What does being present mean to you? If you could change the future to make the world a better place, what would you change first? Do share! Thank you. 😉

This post was inspired by a prompt from SoulPancake: Sum up what excites you about the future using only five words. Post some of your ideas in the comments — and your examples!

Positive Motivation Tip: No one truly knows what the future holds. We can speculate, predict, insist on logical outcomes based on facts, in the end, we simply must be present… Focus on Now!

Fabulous post! For me, this is the year of motivation, application of everything I’ve been working towards. My husband and I are publishing a book and it will be amazing because we’re going to make it that way.

I focus on the here and now….Living my life for whatever is instore day by day….although we do have to at times think about our future when making our decisions….At my age, thankful for every day God gives me ….with good health…and with each smile, a joy to my heart..but we are never too old to dream. You’ve set yourself an impossible task. Though I can do it in four.

    The future is unknowable.

thanks for mentioning Erich Fromm, I read some of his books …

  9. 03/01/2012 6:31 am

I understand that blue feeling. You’ve finished a milestone! To blog every day of the year like you did is an amazingly talented feat! People can put words down but to really say something valuable, and help people on a daily basis is a gift to your readers (TY!) and a display of incredible talent! I’m quite certain you deserve a round of applause.

Now- once you think about that blue feeling? I think it’s simply that you have not chosen one of the many directions that can spark your interest. With your talent and your positive thinking, I cannot wait to see what you come up with!

Happy New Year, my friend!! 🙂

Great post. I love the George Bernard Shaw quote! I love life and will embrace the “splendid torch” as long as is possible.

What excites me about the future (in five words!)?

    Happy New Year!

I suspected you would go through a bit of withdrawal. It’s to be expected. As for five words…
    Be Present, Be Relevant, Live

  15. 03/01/2012 8:54 am

    Happy NOW Year, E!

Let go of past shores and sail into the unknown to explore, dream, discover.

Being filled with love, working for peace, working for a sustainable energy system around the glove, being truly present within our own souls to be fully present and connected with all around us: Such a great way to march forward in the parade of 2012! Thanks, by the way, for deciding to follow my own blog. I will post about every 2 days until after Epiphany, then 5-6 days a week again, as in last quarter of 2011. Be well.

  20. 03/01/2012 4:33 pm

Now is all I have. I can spend my time wallowing in guilt and remorse over the past. I can worry about the future. Or I can do the best I can with the moment before me. My goal today and every day is make the most of the time in front of me.

  21. 03/01/2012 5:04 pm

Great answers from your readers. I’m impressed. Me, I have come up empty!

  22. 04/01/2012 12:54 am

Totally agree with you Eliz, we should focus on now, and plan for the future. Try not to live in the past.
I love the quote from Gene Oliver. Thank you for sharing this..

  23. 04/01/2012 1:42 pm

    5 words?

  24. 05/01/2012 2:30 am

We must be careful to plan for the future. I am of the belief that the human race spends too much time focusing on “NOW” and not giving thought to future generations and what we leave for them (or destroy, not leaving anything).

While it is good that as individuals we live in the present, as a species on this planet we MUST plan for the future and not live so much in now that we destroy forests to get our “NOW” electricity without thought for the future.

  25. 06/01/2012 12:34 am

What excites me about the future is that it’s so unpredictable and I would never have said that 5 years ago! 🙂

  26. 06/01/2012 6:36 pm

Still trying to work out what the future means to me. I told myself that I’d work on my 2012 vision board this week — well, I guess it’s still ‘this week’! Great post, as usual, Elizabeth.

  27. 22/01/2012 8:12 am

People don’t seem to understand that we need to choose to be happy, actively, instead of just waiting for things to happen while dwelling on the missed opportunities and failed attempts.
