Happy New Year! I thought you should know that The Emancipation Proclamation is 150 Years Old today. On January 1st, 1863, The Emancipation Proclamation was signed. It offered freedom for slaves and led the way to total abolition of slavery in the United States. The 13th Amendment, passed on December 6th, 1865, finally abolished slavery. There are images from that period for your perusal on theroot.com. As we close the door on 2012 and welcome 2013, may our New Year be filled with peace, abundant blessings, love and bliss. Thank You for stopping by… More below!

Write my Life passionately
2012 has been a remarkable year with much sadness and joy to reflect on; Hurricane Sandy, the tragedy of Sandy Hook Elementary, the 23 year old rape victim in India, Obama’s re-election, many new blog friends, loss of many greats, and the birth of many new creative minds… Let’s keep writing, let’s reach for our peace flags often, and follow our hearts dreams in 2013. I’ve added some resolutions that tickled my fancy in block quotes… and my three above each paragraph. Stay Happy and Blessed. Happy New Year!
“My New Year’s resolution is to stick to a good workout plan that will keep me healthy and happy.” James Lafferty

Haiku: The Early Years…
“There are perhaps no days of our childhood we lived so fully as those we spent with a favorite book.” Marcel Proust

Haiku: The Early Years… the world is a book
This is not page three
Early years, part idyllic
Spent buried in books…
Curled up in a corner of my dad’s home office, book in hand, I entered the magical world of words. There, I found the sunny parts and the missing parts of my life; a world that made more sense. In this haiku, I share snippets of my early years… and I’m just being honest about the specific page numbers in my offline writings.
“Life is the childhood of our immortality.” Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Haiku: The Early Years… Secrets
This is not page two
Mystified by my childhood
Shrouded in secrets…
Some parts of my earliest years were shrouded in mystery. The inexplicable absence of certain details filled in by invented imagery.
