Haiku: Musings On Life’s Adventures
“We live in a wonderful world that is full of beauty, charm and adventure. There is no end to the adventures that we can have if only we seek them with our eyes open.” Jawaharlal Nehru

Haiku: Musings On Life’s Adventures – The many ways we travel
Up and down the road
Life’s many adventures call
Start now! Tempus fujit!
Seasons fade away
Bucket lists to Travel spots
Obliterated
A few years ago, I wrote a post, Reflections: A Bucket List For The Seasons Of Life, in which I shared a long list of exciting, shape shifting things one could do before kicking the proverbial bucket. At the time, I had just come off a travel stint and was eager to embrace the next exhilarating phase of my life. More travel loomed and as any travel junkie would attest, it can be addictive and I was hooked. But, I got derailed by some health issues, and had to shift gears. Since then, I’ve come full circle to appreciate the simple daily adventures we experience in our lives, and to weigh them just as highly on my scale of life accomplishments. The point is that we journey on many plains; our adventures begin within and spread outwards and then come full circle by expressing themselves in our personal stories.
Each life is sacred, and every journey is an adventure of nuanced proportions … if we don’t honor our journey, we lose touch with the magical, grace-filled pathways that enrich our lives; if we lose touch, then the adventures we claim to live outside of ourselves might even feel barren. When this week’s Discover-Challenge prompt popped up, it reminded me not only of the many adventures; trips, excursions, moves and life experiences, large and small, I’ve had in my lifetime, but also of all the adventures I have yet to explore. Tempus fujit!

In yet another post, Inspiration: Twenty Travel Spots to Stir Your Soul, I walked down the halls of my dreams, and picked out 20 places we should all visit in our lifetime. Travel is a great teacher and I’ve always believed that we can learn so much about our character and our depth of resilience from our travel experiences. But we don’t have to venture far to enjoy the pleasures of travel. We can start from our own locale and engage in activities that bring us into contact with people around the world.
Each time we extend a helping hand to another soul and stop to read about another person’s journey, we are fueling our own spirit of adventure. So, whether you travel far to the 20 spots I selected or you travel locally to 20 of your own, your actions add a level of gravitas to your life’s journey. All of our journeys/adventures have merit. As Antoine de Saint-Exupery said, “It is in the compelling zest of high adventure and of victory, and in creative action, that man finds his supreme joys.” Seek and embrace yours.
This post was inspired by a WordPress Prompt: Discover Challenge: Adventure – Choose your own, then render it in your favorite medium. Such a great read. I love the part where you said “I’ve come full circle to appreciate the simple daily adventures we experience in our lives, and to weigh them just as highly on my scale of life accomplishments.” That is so very true & goes along with the saying “you never truly appreciate what you have until it’s gone.”
Thank you Jess… It was an eye opener to reflect on the topic and I am grateful for your feedback. 🙂
I also love those lines! True, you will never see how important it is until it’s gone.
Yes, cherish what is…
I look forward to both the day to day monotony and the big adventures. I take in as much as I can.
True… as we all should. Life is to be lived. 🙂
I’ve learned to love and appreciate the day to day too. In the end those are what are really making our memories. 🙂
Life is definitely an exciting adventure and a journey all in one. I’m living it daily and while I know that I’ll kick the bucket eventually, I want to enjoy my life and focus on the positives.
I agree that we should make the best of the life we have. 🙂
I totally agree too! Life offers so many good things and we should not forget about that!
Wow! I love it! It’s like the saying goes, don’t spend your life chasing people who don’t appreciate you. You are not there to give your time, effort, and energy and be neglected. You are here to enjoy your life journey and be content with who and what you are.
I concur… we must live our lives.
Life is always full of challenges, excitement, disappointment, fun and everything! Whatever it is- life will always be a journey you don’t want to end soon.
Your post is long but worth to read. Life is full of adventures and with lots of surprises too.
Thank you! 🙂
Your images are so perfect for a life adventure! I enjoyed your Haiku and this was a perfect read to start off my weekend!
Fantastic. Enjoy the weekend.
Life is a crazy adventure or nothing at all. I guess Adventure is what makes life a lot more colorful and exciting.
The adventure keeps us all going.
Such a great read and I love this quotes ” up and down the road
Life’s many adventures call”
I’m glad you enjoyed it. 🙂
I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately so this is a perfectly timed post for me!
Great! TY! 🙂
I like your poems, being a frustrated poet myself. I maybe have done most of the stuff in my bucket list.
That is great. Now add some more. 🙂
Everything about this statement is so true “Travel is a great teacher and I’ve always believed that we can learn so much about our character and our depth of resilience from our travel experiences.” I have learned so much about myself through travel.
Likewise. TY! 🙂
Such a nice read. Life is indeed full of adventure and life itself is a journey.
Aye captain! 🙂
I love this exploration of life and being human through the lens of haiku poetry. I’ve always loved a good haiku!
I love them too… Such a craft of precision. 🙂
beautiful quote at the start of the post.I agree with it. All the pictures are beautiful
🙂 !
Life sure is a fun journey. Really nice post. I enjoyed reading it!
I really find it amazing and quite puzzling at the same time how fate works for each of us. But what’s important is definitely we should never be afraid to face everything that comes. 😀
It is a mystery…. 😉
Adventure is my word for 2016. I am trying to do some fun and exciting things and push myself out of my comfort zone.
Oh good for you! You have lot of adventures before you!
I am creating my own bucket list. As a 45 year old, I am learning to take some adventures that I once would not have done.
That is a terrific idea. 🙂
I love haikus. And taking adventures.. Hope I can take one soon.
I hope for you too. 🙂
This is a great post indeed about adventures or journeys. Adventures and journeys come in many forms. I believe everything good or bad we experience in our life brings us into another journey. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and awesome photos.
I have the same beliefs. TY Rebecca and welcome back. <3
Did you write those haiku? They are beautiful! And definitely give me a little wanderlust!
Yes, I did. I enjoy writing them.
Great read. It’s true that we need to cherish our journey no matter where we end up. We need to keep in mind that life is beautiful and we need to feel it.
True and even with its many challenges…. 🙂
I love that quote from Oprah. It is so true to keep your dreams alive and try to pursue them.
Sound wisdom from Ms. O
I am doing better about enjoying the everyday adventures. I think we get too caught up in wanting grand adventures and ignore the little ones.
True. Every adventure has merit. 😉
Life is indeed an adventure and an entire life isn’t enough to explore just my country, leave alone the world!!!
I have the greatest adventures of my life when I met my partner! There are times that are not okay but life is still very rewarding.
I love this adventure I call life. I have a bucket list full of adventures that I hope to one day go on. They are all centered around summer, though. I’d like to make one for every season.
I have many places on my travel bucket list and I want to go on many adventures in 2016.
This statement made me think: “Each time we extend a helping hand to another soul and stop to read about another person’s journey, we are fueling our own spirit of adventure.” I like the thought of helping others is a way of growing our own adventurous spirit.
Beautiful pictures and amazing Haikus. They convey a lot about life in just 2 lines.
Whether it be by traveling, motherhood, or daily activities, life is a wonderful adventure. It’s a matter of perspective and state of mind so we’ve gotta make the best of it.
