Weekly Photo Challenge: Work Of Art ~ Joy of collages
I love creating collages as they help me pull together things that catch my attention and remind me to pause and inhale the beauty in my surroundings. If art is in the eyes of the beholder, then we come to it with our own perspective and vision of the surrounding world.
“If you hear a voice within you say ‘you cannot paint,’ then by all means paint, and that voice will be silenced.” Vincent Van Gogh

Van Gogh’s quote made me stop and think… Why do we always allow others to negate our efforts? Why do we allow ourselves to succumb to subjective criticisms that discourage us from pursuing our craft? The difference between us and the masters we revere is that they stayed the course and worked on honing their innate talent till it stood out and captivated the observer. Some of the artists we admire today were poor and died miserably. Many years later, their work sells for hundreds of millions of dollars. Create your art and believe in its merit.

Have a great weekend ahead and thanks again for stopping by!
*Please bear with me as I continue to catch up on reading and commenting on your blogs. I’ll catch up soon too. Thank you all for your patience!
This post was inspired by a prompt from WP Daily Post: Work of Art Share a photo of something that’s art to you. It could be some actual “art,” like a painting by your grandmother or the misshapen but perfect clay sculpture your child brought home from kindergarten, or something most people wouldn’t consider beautiful at all, but that has meaning to you.
Positive Motivation Tip: We see art around us all day long. Some is obvious and some takes creativity and curiosity. Keep your mind open and alert. The world is art.

Van Gogh (and you) are right. Rejection happens (especially when you’re a writer). Writing has to continue.
Indeed and it’s important to remind ourselves about it too!
Beautiful collages Elizabeth. It’s so true, I’ve been allowing the negative in way too much. Tonight I said “no more”; tomorrow I paint. 🙂 Big hugs and thanks for the reminder. 🙂
