Weekly Photo Challenge: TREATS & SWEETS – All Things Chocolate!
It’s the season for treats and sweets and I couldn’t resist sharing some of the goodies we have around the house for the upcoming holidays. It’s amazing what happens in the stores as Halloween, Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Christmas and all the other special holidays approach. The stores are stocked to the rafters with all manner of treats; chocolates, biscuits, cakes, pies and a ton of sweets. The dizzying array can be overwhelming as fancy chocolate covered cookie boxes compete with truffles, macaroons, mince pies, mini madeleines and nuts in all imaginable flavors.
For this post, I raided our sweets drawer at home and put together a photo shoot on the treats you see above. In case you are still wondering what they are, here goes: I have milk and dark chocolate covered almonds, chocolate coconut macaroons, mini chocolate chip madelienes and some dipping chocolate biscotti. Yummy! I have some advice for the sweet and treat overload season: First, enjoy the wide selections available as they are all delicious and some only show up at this time of the year. Next, I’d encourage moderation in eating them… Do what I say not what I do. Haha! Happy Halloween!

When I went out today to run a few errands, I stopped by my local Bed, Bath and Beyond to check out their holiday food selections. If you’re an expatriate, you already know that they have an impressive selection of foods from around the world, and you can find items you won’t normally find in your average American supermarket. I love going there to get my favorite goodies and, today, I was thrilled to find out that they have received their holiday delivery of mince pies, biscuits and more chocolates than I could ever consume. I plan to pick up some mince pies for Thanksgiving, and Christmas pudding for the Christmas holidays. I’ve bought tons of spices, dessert mixes, teas, and savory seasonings from them and they all transport me back to my mother’s kitchen. These memories of childhood are precious to all of us and it is my hope that my children will cherish the same as we celebrate foods from afar every holiday season. What treats and sweets do you have around the house? What are your Halloween plans? Stay Safe! Stay inspired. Have a Happy Weekend!
My fellow bloggers were equally creative with their selections. Check out how others interpreted the theme – TREATS – below.
This post was inspired by a prompt from WP Daily Post: Weekly Photo Challenge: TREATS This week’s photo challenge theme is “Treat,” an intentionally open-ended prompt. For many, candies aren’t a favorite indulgence. Maybe you’re a savory food lover, or you’ve gone on a beautiful vacation to treat yourself. Perhaps some quiet time alone with a beloved novel is your greatest pleasure. This week, share with us a photo of something that you consider a marvelous treat.Treats and indulgences can take many forms. Share yours with us!
Positive Motivation Tip: With the Holidays around the corner, give yourself permission to indulge your sweet tooth. Go for it. Life is short!

Nothing like chocolate to satisfy one’s longing for satisfaction. Returning to one’s mother’s kitchen is a lovely thought. Sweet post!
It may not surprise you to know that I’ve never been able to resist a good treat, and these pictures just make me want to wander down to the shop and see if they have any nice chocolate for sale !
Nothing surprises me anymore. I’ll meet you at the corner and we can stroll down to the store and load up on more sweets. Hahahah!

This photo challenge is indeed a mouth watering one, I love chocolate the most, but I need to watch out because I am not getting any younger if i’ll keep too much sweets.
Naughty but nice 🍮🍩🍪
Hahaha! Sweets are dangerous!
Honestly, this is the only part of Halloween that I participate in – the sweets! 🙂
All of those treats look so good, I just reach my hand in the screen and take all of them out and multiply it by 1000 so i can have them forever.
So many sweets I’d love to try. Lovely collages – and, I am sure, tasty sweets. I’ll have to wait to my birthday (later in November) to see these many treats (I don’t celebrate Halloween here).
I never thought of Bed Bath and Beyond as a place to get treats. Interesting
I am positively drooling over your selection of chocolate goodies!
Yum! I want all of these treats! lol. And what a fun photo challenge! Looks like fun!
I love this time of the year because of all of the sweets for the holidays, however it’s not good for your diet.
These all look so delicious! I love chocolate.
I wish my drawer had all those sweets like yours did. Love this idea and who doesn’t love a roundup? – Erin Kennedy
I do love good chocolate! Sometimes a light drizzle will do. My plan for this Halloween is to entertain some friends and then secretly raid my kids loot bag for my favourite pieces of candy 🙂 Happy Halloween!
Oh my goodness. I just gained 10 pounds!
I have a sweet tooth and for some reason my friends are sweet enough to keep sending me. I have to stop but yeah, once in a while, I have to indulge as well. sweets are the perfect stress reliever and also a good way to tell your friend, it’s okay, we care 🙂
Chocolates and any kind of sweets are eaten not juat during eventa but I can eat them all everyday. No more diet lol
Well treats and sweets are great especially during holiday season but eat moderately to maintain a balanced diet.
Since I am coffee right now, I can have some of those muffins please and thank you.
I agree that food definitely has a way of transporting us to the past! Like how chicken fingers and ranch totally brings me back to my high school days…or Lil Ceasar’s Pizza 🙂
Hayz.. I’ll just content myself seeing and imagining how sweet these chocolate products are. It’s been decades since I last have a chocolate treat.. I am diabetic so I have to refrain from chocolate yummies.
These are my favorite snacks at midnight! Love the chocolates.
I love your photo challenge, all pictures are mouth watering lol, chocolate is my favorite.
So many tasty treats. I love chocolate and your right it shows up at Halloween and hibernate for a bit after Easter. 🙂

Oh my, sweet treats are so tempting! And I love all things chocolate! Cakes, flans, cookies, petite fours, pudding, I don’t care as long as they’re made of chocolate! Haha. Nice images, they fit the weekly photo challenge perfectly!
Thank you. I was hungry too!
These chocolates look so yummy. My nephews and nieces would definitely love receiving these this coming holiday season.. 🙂
Awesome!
I love sweets. Sweets just remind us of all the positive memories and really give us happiness with its taste.
Yes, that is why kids love them!
Looking at all that chocolate and cookies is making me hungry right now! I think I’m going to pop by Famous Amos later 😉
The body needs sweets, too. It helps give energy. But as always, eating any kind of sweet treats in moderation is recommended.

OMG yes, food always finds a way to connect us to moments in time
Those looks so good. I can munch some of those right now.
Oh my the treats look so delicious. Sad I cannot enjoy chocolate anymore.
So nice to look at vivid pictures of great food. I really like those chocolate eggs. Whatever nut it contains inside would be fine. My favorite would be hazel nuts.
By my magic wand, it is now a giant hazelnut!
My kids offered a different kind of sweet treat for me. They went to my grandmother’s house and made some arrangements (with the help of their father) so I can have the time to unwind and relax in a spa.
What I really need right now is a spa or beauty salon treat. I badly need a full body massage and hair color, please, but I’ll have those milk chocolate covered almonds anytime! Yummy!
Anticipating a motivational post – i click through and was confronted by ALL THESE CHOCOLATES instead!!! Yumz! But please Elizabeth, not too much of such pictures please – it’s not very good for my diet! ;P
Hahaha. You are not alone!
Give me all the treats. I have a wicked sweet tooth!

I definitely have a sweet tooth! It is sometimes a bad thing, lol. All of these sweets look so delicious. I may have to go eat one of my chocolate cookies and it is only 10 a.m. here! lol!
Your photo shoot looks lovely and make me very hungry, I could definitely treat myself with some Maltesers or coconut cookies. I go to my local expat supermarket quite often as well, to find food from home.
