“Life is one big road with lots of signs. So when you riding through the ruts, don’t complicate your mind. Flee from hate, mischief and jealousy. Don’t bury your thoughts, put your vision to reality. Wake Up and Live!” Bob Marley

Weekly Photo Challenge: SIGNS – Seen on the ceiling of a NYC Subway car

Weekly Photo Challenge: SIGNS
Signs make us think. Some make us laugh. All have stories to tell. We have a pigeon problem in NYC… Well, it depends on who you ask and where you are. I guess the rats will win hands down. Anyhow, I laughed out loud, one morning, when I hit the subway and noticed people looking up, instead of at their feet. I looked up and that hysterical sign greeted me. It covered the entire length of the ceiling in my subway car. I paused long enough to collect myself, whip out my cheapo camera, and take a few shots. I have one with the people standing so you get the depth of it. I will go back and upload it so this one makes sense. There’s another sign I’d love to share but can’t find it. Sadly, I don’t always label my photo folders properly… C’est la vie! Enjoy

Weekly Photo Challenge: SIGNS – I found this sign in a thrift store and it spoke to me. Haha!
Signs speak to us in many ways; they inform us, warn us, educate us, mislead us, and even make us laugh. T-shirts with interesting and funny lines are popular in Japan and I guess everywhere else in the world. We took shots of these in a Tokyo store… Love the literal translations. My daughters took even better ones but won’t let me share them. I get it. I speak two other languages and the T-shirts reminded me of when I was learning other languages too. I love them. Come back later for more. Ha!

“Large stores, gilt signs, flaming advertisements, will all prove unavailing if you or your employees treat your patrons abruptly. The truth is, the more kind and liberal a man is, the more generous will be the patronage bestowed upon him.” P. T. Barnum

Weekly Photo Challenge: SIGNS
Samuel Johnson, once said that “Words are but the signs of ideas.” I find that to be the case even when the words are deceptive. Take your average, exaggerated, print ad or TV commercial, they use words to create ideas in our minds. We hear certain words and our associations leap in the direction the advertiser would love us to go… Yep, want that fizzy drink, love that ride, got those shoes … and on and on. Words fuel our ideas and then we add our own feelings and fantasies and, hey, the rest is a purchase in a store. Enjoy your weekend all! Thank you for checking in.
This post was inspired by a Daily Post Prompt: Weekly Photo Challenge: SIGNS For this challenge, share an image of a sign: it can be a sign near your home — a comforting sight after a long journey — a sign that doubles as art, or other types of signs that hold meaning for you.
Positive Motivation Tip: Signs speak volumes to us in many ways; they inform us, warn us, educate us, misled us and even make us laugh. Without signs, it would be hard to navigate the streets and other parts of the world. Let’s keep them coming!

The pigeon sign is so funny. Nice post there are so many great signs!
I would love to see that here in Vancouver, we also have a large pigeon population! I love interesting signs too and now I have that song in my head, Signs Signs, Everywhere the Signs …
I don’t know that song… but hope you don’t have to watch your head from those pigeons. Haha!
I like to post signs. They are motivating and inspiring.
I love the pigeon sign but the purple tee shirt is rather sad!
Yes, I’m glad you noticed the T-shirts. They are more translations than exact messages… TY for stopping by Gilly! 🙂
I like that “motto to live by”!
Hahaha! I love it too. I had to get it so we don’t forget to live life and enjoy it. TY!
So much fun. Good choices. “Grateful. Thankful. Blessed.” is my favorite, of course. Nobody should NEED this reminder, but in case they do…. Yeah. Great sign.
I like that one too! Thank you Genevieve will be popping over shortly.
THere is so much irony in signs I need to start capturing them in photos when I see them.

The whole time I’m reading this I keep hearing that song in my head.. Signs, signs everywhere, there’s signs.. Blocking up the scenery, breaking my mind… Do this, don’t do that, can’t you read the signs…. lol I have no idea who sings it though.. lol
Now I have to go find it… 😆
The song “signs” from the late 80s really had me thinking at a young age about WHY of signs.
I need to go find it and listen to it… It doesn’t ring a bell at all…
I like reading signs too! Really like the quote, “Problems are not stop signs, they are guidelines.” Robert H. Schuller. So true!
Glad you like it. I’m a big sign reader and have a ton of sign shots. Problem is the timeline to do this exercise was short, and it was going to take longer to dig up some more of the funny stuff.
Love the pigeon sign! LOL! This is such a delightful post!
I always get a kick out of funny signs! Sometimes they are really crazy!
Me too. Glad you like it! Haha 🙂
