Friendships: Something So Strong….
“One of the most beautiful qualities of true friendship is to understand and to be understood.” Lucius Annaeus Seneca

Friendships: Something So Strong….
Friends … something so strong
Memories from childhood play
Coursing through our veins
What is true friendship to you? True friendship is like a rock by the sea. The waves crash against it but it stays steady and strong…
“A single rose can be my garden… a single friend, my world.” Leo Buscaglia

Friendships: Something So Strong….
Friendships… like rosebuds
Unfurl, blossoming with time
Deepening the love
“Friends and good manners will carry you where money won’t go.” Margaret Walker

Friendships: Something So Strong….
Like strong crashing waves…
True friendships steady our hearts
Healing all that’s past.
We have all sorts of friends but our true friends are steady and sure and not swayed by the tremors of life. What kinds of friends do you have?
This post was inspired by a prompt from WP Daily Post: Something So Strong.
Tell us the origin story of your best friend. How did you become friends? What is it that keeps your friendship rockin’ after all these years?
Positive Motivation Tip: True friendship is like a rock by the sea. The waves crash against it but it stays steady and strong…

I’m blessed with wonderful life long friends 🙂
Indeed Gilly! It’s a huge blessing.I’m in agreement…
Reblogged this on THE STRATEGIC LEARNER.
Thank you John!
I often enjoy your blog. Yet I do not always comment. I really liked this one.
Well TY Izzy! I’m so happy you decided to add your voice. I like connecting with new bloggers too. TY! 🙂
What will we do without friends!
Not very much! TY dear one. We need true friends.
Love the first friendship quote! Over the years my friendships have been tested, so I cherish the few real friends that I have. Here is one of my favorite friendhip quotes:
“We all lose friends…we lose them in death, to distance and over time. But even though they may be lost, hope is not. The key is to keep them in your heart, and when the time is right, you can pick up the friendship right where you left off. Even the lost find their way home when you leave the light on.” – Amy Marie Walz
That is a beautiful quotes you shared too. Like you, I have a few real friendships that have survived the test of time, distance, and drama… I cherish them too TY!
One would like to think one’s friends are true. Time and life, however, show it to be different. I do have one friend, though, whom I still see in occasion that I went to school with. What a pleasure it is to see her and chat – it is like years have not gone by.
I have found that the term friend has changed it’s meaning over to years. People call others ‘friends” after meeting them for a day. To me that would be an acquaintance. My hubby has friends. Many of them that he has known for 40 years or better. They get together quite often and are there for one other. I on the other hand do not have many friends if in fact any at all but maybe 1. Life happens and you lose contact and it takes a lot for me to let people into my inner circle.
Friends are definitely one of the most important things in life! I just read a caption under the “Humans in NY” Facebook page that was about lasting friendship and it was so touching.
Beautiful post. Friends are definitely important. Some are better friends then others. I do have one close friend though, she’s an awesome woman.
Honestly, all it takes is one friend who would give anything to protect you. One close friend is great.
Great blog. I love the Buscaglia quote. I wouldn’t know what to do without my besties. Love the pics too.
Well, it’s never too late to gather around friends for a fun evening.
The beautiful thing about friendships is the ease with which they happen. No expectations. No trying to squeeze anyone into a mold. Just acceptance, love, and respect.
Exactly, they come quietly like a thief at know night!
I love these pictures, so cute! Friends mean so much 🙂
Friendship is like a drink of fresh water on a hot day. We all need one
The word FRIEND is such a strong word. As I grew older, I realized that I only needed a few close & good ones. They are the ones who stick with you despite stuff that happen. These are the people who after not seeing each other for a while, it would seem like you guys were together just last night. I have lost a few friends back in 2012 – a tough decision I had to make but it was because I saw their true colors: they were only there for me during fun times, but when things got crappy … they all left. So, lesson is we really have to choose the people we associate ourselves with. Not everyone is worthy to be called a friend.
Some friendships do break down and when it happens, it’s best to stay calm… Over time, we learn who our true friends are
I have friends that I have known since my childhood. We do not meet often because they live in Finland, and in other parts of the world, but we keep in touch and I still consider all of them my best friends. Friendship is something that grows with time and if it’s true, not even distance can kill it 🙂
Like you, I have friends in all the countries I lived in or visited. They are always glad to reconnect and same here.
What a beautiful ode to friendships, this reminds me that I have some that I’d really like to rekindle!
Go for it… and let us know how the reconnection went.
Friendships are one of the most important things in life. Especially long term and meaningful friendships.
Thank you! You deserve more credit for that… I love music and my closest friends share that love with me too.
I used to have a bestie (other than my sister). We met in middle school. She came off as stuck up and I could not stand her lol Then one day she got into a fight with a girl and I thought to myself “Hmm she’s alright” We we friends since. For 13 years! But things didn’t last. I guess it wasn’t as strong as I thought it was…But thankfully I have my sister. She’s been my bestie for ever!
13 years! That is a long time to have a friendship end. I do hope you mend fences again.
Friends are so important. All of mine have moved away though 🙁
Oh… dear. It might be the perfect time to make new friends. Imagine the excitement again.
Good friends are hard to find and important to keep!
Indeed. When we find them, lets celebrate the joys of friendship.
Friends come in all shapes and sizes 🙂 What a sweet post and I love the pictures!
Thanks for your sweet comment. I love those photos too and they spoke volumes for me.
True friendship is always there through thick and thin. No matter what happens in this world, they will help one another and will always understand each other.
Our closest friends love us anyway and so there is never a need for airs or lies. They really do understand.
True friendship is one that never breaks down no matter what happens. A true friend, on the other hand, is someone who can tell you good things and bad things without hesitation.
True… our truest friends have seen us up and down and love us anyway…
thank you made me think of my best friend and my sister who are curiously great friends too
Hope you would take a minute to reach out to them and catch up on family stories… it’s fuel for the soul.
I can’t imagine life without friends. They are blessings to my soul, they make me happy and one of the reasons I enjoy life. Thank God for the gift of friends.
I’m with you on that note Jhady! Friends make our world rich and full.
I love my friends and I treat them like family. I believe in the saying you can’t pick blood relatives but you can pick family that is born from your heart.
Exactly. We cultivate our friendships and nurture them to life… It takes time and effort.
As the old cliche says “No Man Is An Island”. We all need to have a friend, whether we like it or not, we should have even one friend in the world. I love my friends, regardless of how imperfect they are.
I agree with you completely. True friendship is about acceptance; warts and all.
Friends are so important. I don’t know where I would be without them! Thank you for sharing this!
Same here; especially our tried and true friendships.
The older I get, the more important my friendships (Which I’ve always recognized as important) become to me. This is a good post.
So true Rosey… Also did you notice that as people age, many are reluctant to add new friends to their lives…? Fascinating.
Friends are certainly an important part of my life. Thanks for sharing this lovely tribute.
Friends are the foundation of my community life and I would be distraught without them. We have all sorts of friends and each plays an important part in our lives.
ah I want that little chipmunk! Also friends are the best.
You are welcome to the chipmunk Paulina. Do share what friendship means to you…
I love to read quotes and poems about true friends because it brings a smile to my face every time. My best friend has always been my sister who is a year younger than me. Thanks for sharing.
That is wonderful to know your best friend is also a close member of your family. My sisters and I are very close and we could say we are best friends too… It’s a blessing.
