Haiku: Autumn…
“By all these lovely tokens, September days are here. With summer’s best of weather, and autumn’s best of cheer.” Helen Hunt Jackson
Brown, gold, shades of rust
Falling leaves bite dust at dawn
At night, barren land…
Are you ready for fall/autumn and winter? Do you have rituals you perform to prepare for fall and winter, like packing up summer gear? The fall is a time of shifting in our lives; a shifting of the inner and outer landscapes that fill our vision with color and promise. It is the undressing of nature’s beloved children that fascinates us; naked trees, stripped land and faded flora. The temporary barrenness reminds us to cherish the periods of fecundity when they come… For everything, there is a season.

“Autumn wins you best by this its mute appeal to sympathy for its decay.” Robert Browning
Autumn’s torn jacket
Made from branches, sticks and stones
Snares the common cold…
What about you? What attracts your attention in the changing seasons? cooling temps? hibernation? nature? I’d like to imagine a fall without colds and the usual sniffles, but it is a form of cleansing for us too… Just like the earth strips herself of hue and foliage, we are stripped of the mucus that weighs us down… just a thought.
We can release our anxieties about the weather and inhale the cool air or we can fight it. But why bother? Life is about change and each season of our lives brings lessons and rewards. Time some time this fall and in the coming winter, to shed some old and tired habits. Embrace the shift, change your sad language and see how great good will manifest. What are your thoughts? Do share! Thank you. 🙂

Positive Motivation Tip: As we embrace autumn and all she carries forth, rejoice in the healing that comes from/with the changing seasons.

Lovely thoughts on autumn. We’re going into spring here. 🙂
Yes, you said that and it amazes me to remember all the different seasons we experience at once …. just in different parts of the world. 😉
I do love autumn, but not thrilled with the cold I woke up with this morning. Let the season begin. ahhhh.

Hope you feel better soon. I’ve had a low grade fever from a lingering flu… Hope to shake it off soon enough too. 🙂
Gorgeous photo. Autumn is my favorite season, although I love the springtime too. I love the smell of tomato plants as I harvest the fruit, and warm sunny days and cool nights. And the smell of MacIntosh apples and fresh beaked pies. Most of all, I love the fall colors.
I love the things you love about autumn too… I’m not too crazy about the cold weather though. TY! 🙂
I am looking forward to a little chill in the air, wearing boots, maybe some rain, fall vegetables to cook with, braising in my Le Creuset…!
Sounds wonderful and inviting. 🙂
