Reflections: You Yourself Must Change It…

03/01/2013

“It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change.” Charles Darwin

Reflections: You Yourself Must Change It...

Reflections: You Yourself Must Change It…

Dreams Before Waking by Adrienne Rich
What would it mean to live
in a city whose people were changing
each other’s despair into hope?-
You yourself must change it.-
What would it feel like to know
your country was changing?-
You yourself must change it.-
Though your life felt arduous
new and unmapped and strange
what would it mean to stand on the first
page of the end of despair? (An excerpt)

ACT: To stand on the first page of the end of despair takes courage. But even more so, it takes persistent action. Working for the common good; helping the down and out, supporting causes that matter, showing simple kindness on the street, acknowledging others, takes commitment. We can sit back and let others do it or we can contribute to change the despair into hope… even in the smallest way. Thank You to my top five commentators for 2012: Bree, Frizztext, Tilly Bud, Granbee and Three Well Beings  and thank you all who supported this blog (proper thanks in future post). More below!

Haiku: The Power of Silence…

Everything has its wonders, even darkness and silence,
and I learn, whatever state I may be in, therein to be content. Helen Keller

A meditation…
There will be no open doors
‘Til man loves peace more…

“Nothing strengthens authority so much as silence.” Leonardo da Vinci

Haiku: The Power of Silence...

Haiku: The Power of Silence…

From silence you come, to silence you go.
Enter your inner space and know where you come from. The eternal silence awaits you with endless patience. Unknown

In the silence, Truth
We stand naked with our thoughts
Wisely fed soul food…

Take some time to observe silence this year… to sit and meditate. We constantly rush around meeting deadlines, doing chores, completing tasks… Stop. Turn down the noise and speedometer… Silence. More below!

Happy New Year! I thought you should know that The Emancipation Proclamation is 150 Years Old today. On January 1st, 1863, The Emancipation Proclamation was signed. It offered freedom for slaves and led the way to total abolition of slavery in the United States. The 13th Amendment, passed on December 6th, 1865, finally abolished slavery. There are images from that period for your perusal on theroot.com. As we close the door on 2012 and welcome 2013, may our New Year be filled with peace, abundant blessings, love and bliss. Thank You for stopping by… More below!
