Photo Challenge: More LINES

Photo Challenge: More LINES – BROOKLYN BRIDGE AT DUSK and More
For this week’s challenge on LINES, I’m sharing some construction shots including the ever popular Brooklyn Bridge at dusk. I’ve been thinking about the theme for this week and trying to find a philosophical arc I can hold unto to help me interpret the assignment. There are lines everywhere we look. From nature to man made structures, there are lines small and large … Lifeline comes to mind. The poem below fits the bill and I’ve tried to include photos that hold special memories for me. Let’s think about this one.
Dancing on the Lifeline by Cecil Miller
Dancing on the lifeline,
Flying through the dirt,
Mixing into puddles,
Resembling the sky…
Everything is nothing.
Nothing is everything.
The truth is but a lie
Not looked in the eye.
The spoiled goods we buy!
Dancing on the lifeline,
Spinning dervish, spin.
Aquire all the knowledge you seek,
Find it is within. More below

“Evolution is a light illuminating all facts, a curve that all lines must follow.” Pierre Teilhard de Chardin

Photo Challenge: More LINES – BROOKLYN BRIDGE AT DUSK and More
The Brooklyn Bridge is beautiful to see during the day but, the night is magnificent. Lights glow and the bridge beckons, trying to get us to understand that it loves visitors crossing the bridge from Manhattan to Brooklyn. Come back for the rest of the items shown in the collage.
Contd from above.
Poets are the prophets
To the souls of those that read.
The magick that is in the verses
Always plants a seed
To enlightenment, the need.
We are all
Dancing on the lineline,
Connected by the threads,
That comprise the ribbons
Of the thoughts within our heads.
Everything for which we thirst
Is already in our chalice.
We only need to drink of it,
But need to keep the balance…
Beware the one called valiant.
Never fear that victor,
Who has never seen a challenge,
Who has been given everything
On a silver platter.
Listen to the hope inside.
Follow it, as you lead.
As you cast your spells
And spin your webs, take heed.
Dancing on your lifeline,
Holding onto what is true.
Only when you care for others,
Will you know they care for you.
This post was inspired by a prompt from WP Daily Post: – LINES – This week, share a photo with a composition dominated by lines — hard or soft, straight or curvy, vertical or horizontal, or made in nature or as part of a cityscape. We look forward to seeing your interpretations!

Do you have a favorite night spot you love to visit and/or photograph? 🙂
I enjoyed the photos as usual. When I was young I traveled to Florida from NY and back many times. I took so many pictures of the different bridges we crossed. So many different from rickety old country ones (that I love) to bright and flashy ones. I have never seen the Brooklyn Bridge up close.
You’re right 100%, there are lines everywhere we look – I’m just casting an eye around my bedroom and I see lines in the window panes and the door, the wardrobes and on the floor. That pic of Brooklyn Bridge is gorgeous btw, what time of year did you visit? x
The Brooklyn Bridge looks beautiful at night! How lovely!
It’s so fun to see beyond the sight to see what it’s made of. And just the simplicity of lines can be oh so beautiful!
Really awesome picture of the Brooklyn Bridge. My favorite place to go is just outside, I walk around in my yard to see the stars on a a clear night.
What an interesting topic. Lines are a great focus for photos. I’ll have to try that.
Thanks for sharing the photos of Brooklyn Bridge you took as part of a project investigating lines.
I love dancing on the lifeline – what lovely words. Cool pictures as always 😉
Wonderful topic full of good interpretations. Lines are more of a tool for more connections, not barriers or walls. Also, I love horizons. Perfect example of a line for opportunities and the future.
Oh wow, I love the photo collections. The quotes are really inspiring. Definitely needed this today.
In agreement, the Brooklyn Bridge is beautiful. I truly appreaciate the brickwork—which can’t be seen fully at night. In my years, I haven’t walked across it and I will have to set that goal.
I’ve never been to the Brooklyn Bridge but hope to one day! That looks like a beautiful spot to take a photo
I love the idea of these challenges. Lines is definitely an interesting one. The bridge open at night is such an interesting shot, so different.
Brooklyn Bridge looks so magnificent and I have not seen it at night with all lights. I have seen few in Singapore and they look gorgeous at night.
Gorgeous photos! I love lines in the city, they show so much! The lines on bridges esp the bridges that can be opened for ships are so special. it reminds me of my uni years.
great capture of your subject, love the sayings as well
I never realized how so many photographs incorporate lines. This is amazing.
I loved the poem by Cecil Miller. Lines indeed can inspire philosophy. They can mean so many things 🙂
I’ve been burning some bridge lately and I can surely say that’s the best thing I’ve done for myself in a long time!
Great photos and love the poems. So fitting.
I love seeing photographs with lines in them… I find them intriguing… I don’t go out at night to photograph but you have inspired me to give it a try!
I totally agree about the Brooklyn Bridge at night. It looks so beautiful and I love how the entire bridge just glows.
What a beautiful post and perspective. There is a place near my home where there is a beautiful spot to see the airplanes flying off and landing into the airport, I love watching them.
I love lines in art…there is something so peaceful about a completely straight line….or maybe it’s just me??
I like the bridge pictures because the lights look as if they are glowing. When I try to take bridge pictures they are hit or miss because I’m usually in a moving car while my husband drives.
i really do love the imagery and photography 🙂 some of the words utilized truly awakens various emotions and empowers creativity
I really like how you mix photography with poetry here. They go very well hand-in-hand and very much so in this post!
Wow! Loved the quote its very inspiring. Also the night scene on the bridge it’s very stunning. How you make that incredible shot?
I guess I have to pay more attention on the lines around us, it can be very beautiful if we use our heart to observe. Totally agree with you that the Brooklyn Bridge is beautiful and even more stunning at night when the lights glow.
I love how you took the photo challenge of lines and used lights. It really made for beautiful pictures!
I love that Fred Thompson quote. I need to be better at applying that in my life!
I love looking at lines! And the quotes are great. We need to build more proverbial bridges. Fun post!!
Definitely want to visit Japan and photograph historical places and also the Tokyo Tower!
Most of the time I am amazed with lines formed by nature, though I am amused with those construction and innovation lines that man created.
We trying to find those fun murals in NYC and photograph with them. There are so many interesting street artists, and we want to showcase them on our blog.
I enjoy looking at your photo challenges! I feel that I should take the action and go outside for photos. And not missing the joy that offered in our life, you give me a lot of motivations. Thank you for this one, I will try to challenge myself and capture weekly photos challenge too. Thank you!
This Brooklyn Bridge reminds me of a lot of nice memories. Personally I haven’t been there but my childhood has seen a lot of movies and TV shows that were set on that place.
Nice photo challenge
I love this post and that poem is so beautiful. It made me think that in this earth we are the owner of our lives and we are only the one who will write what paths that we are going to take.
I love the hard lines in the photos that you’ve shared of buildings and bridges. The Brooklyn Bridge is truely stunning at dusk. When I stop and look at all of the creations we have built on this earth in such a relatively short span of time, I can’t help but be amazed. I look forward to your next photo challenge.
I don’t do much night photography. I often walk in the gardens close to where I live, and I am often looking new lines when taking photos of the flower beds. Lines can make or break a photo.
Wow what beautiful photos you have here. I would love to visit the Brooklyn bridge.
I love those buildings ! Nice architecture and buildings are beautiful to gaze at.
