I used to worry about my clothes being in style, but now I don’t care. I like to be comfortable.
And of course, who better to write about style than the fabulously original Liz! You were born with it..

This one actually made me laugh! There is definitely a difference between fashion and style. I think style is timeless but fashion comes and goes.
I would have to say that fashion is where you draw inspiration from and style is how you wear and interpret that inspiration. This is purely when it comes to clothes, of course. I would prefer to have style than to wear anything that’s trendy. Like what they always say, dare to be different.
I can honestly say that fashion comes and goes but I have my own style. Some things are wearable still, and “in style” for me, anyway, 10 years after I bought it. I am older, so trends are not that interesting to me any more. Classic style, class AND style? Yes.
This is interesting to think about. I guess style is something a person has but fashion might just be the clothes.
This is an area that I would fail… being stylish! I’m jealous of people who knows how to put together outfits, I just like comfortable shirts and jeans.
I think style is all about confidence. It doesn’t matter what you where if you can’t walk in the room with your head held high.
I don’t think you have to follow the latest “fashion trends” to be stylish. I think style comes from within more than on the outside. I don’t know why looks become the primary focus.
“Stylish worked the room last night”–I love it. That will stay with me forever. Those with style don’t necessarily follow trends yet never fail to make an impact. Wonderful read as always

Style is always on trend, I do believe that everyone has its own style. Yeah, fashion can easily get outdated but style never as long as you are confident enough to bring your personal style!

For me I’d say style has gone out of the window a little since I left most of my clothes back in Australia when I moved to the UK and had to pick clothes with multi purposes and that were practical. I am looking forward to a bigger range of clothes when I get home. I love dressing up and wearing nice dresses.

Love this post. You need to wear the clothes not let the clothes wear you. I believe you either have style or not. I’ve seen many women wear expensive clothes but they have absolutely no sense of style.
I am so not fashionable it is not funny. I go for sporty comfort and am happiest weraing tekkies (sneakers)!
My daughter is the kind of person who wears fashion. It enhances her, but it’s because she has such poise and presence that she’s stylish. She defines her style.

I used to be a little bit fashionable but ever since we have kids, I think I’ve kind of fallen into the mommy rut. I still love looking through magazines to see what’s in style at the moment though.
I wear fashion & more often than not its quirky, even though that’s not always the trend.
I don’t dress for who I am all of the time, but rather who I inspire to be 🙂
My style is mostly yoga pants! LOL. I’m glad my job is laid back enough where I can wear jeans or yoga pants any day. 😛

I liked the third haiku the best. The use of words was impeccable to convey a sense of irony about stylish not necessarily equivalent to fashionable. I hope I got your meaning right. 🙂

I do love the quotes. When I think of style, I think of Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn. They had a way about them that made you want to emulate them. But it wasn’t just their outer appearance, they had a beautiful soul.
I agree fashion changes but style does not. We should have that sense of style that goes with any season of fashion.

Style is something subjective. To me, being stylish is to be confident with your skin and what you wear. One can be stylish even in shirt and jeans.

This is such a thought provoking post. I do feel sometimes that keeping up trends makes life unnecessarily harder.
I really like the Coco Chanel’s quote: “In order to be irreplaceable, one must be different.” We can all dress in the latest fashion and copy the looks, but in the end, one, who is stylish will stand out.
Finding your own style is so hard and you are right it is different from Fashion. I am still working on my own style.

In todays world one often tends to mix up the two words style and fashion and almost use them interchangeably. But I completely agree with you that style in individualistic but fashion is a more broader term.

Fashion is something that you can buy but I believe style is ingrained into your being. I love the Ralph Lauren quote – so true.

This is a nice haiku to reflect on regarding inner beauty versus the fads out there that make a person “in” but when he/she is actually not. I believe in promoting the “real essence” of a beautiful person not because of the looks but because of what the characteristic of the person is.

I totally believe in the quote of Ralph Lauren that Style is very personal. You can follow latest fashion but you can’t create your personal style statement unless you don’t know how to carry your outfit with confidence!
For me, I believe style is something that makes you comfortable. I always wear something that I am comfortable with. Also, having a partner that encourages you to just be who you are is very helpful. 🙂

I used to think I was fashionable. But later on I realised tha tI was just keeping up with the trends….and desperately so, haha. Yes, style is forever. I’m now relearning style.
