Weekly Photo Challenge: Merge…
“Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it.” Norman Maclean
As serendipity would have it, I was playing around, creating merged images with pixlr express early this week and found it quite easy to use. I wanted to place similarly colored flowers in groupings of three in a post, and the collage feature helped tremendously. So you can imagine how happy I was about our photo challenge for this week – Merge! If you’re an amateur photographer like me, this is a fun one to use with your pictures. I shared this on the Daily Post page so use it to create merged images. If you have other free and user-friendly suggestions, do share.
“Pray till prayer makes you forget your own wish, and leave it or merge it in God‘s will.” Frederick William Robertson
When we take a moment to step away from our comfortable way of doing things and try something new, the familiar becomes a canvas on which we can create new worlds. I got to experiment with textures and colors and more. Hope you like my merged and blended photos… It was fun playing around and I’m looking forwrad to visiting other participants of the challenge.too.
“We shall find in our troubled hearts, where discord reigns, two needs which seem at variance, but which merge, as I think, in a common source – the love of the true, and the love of the fabulous. ” Alfred de Vigny
One thing I love about NYC is how versatile and culturally mixed it is. As you move from one neighborhood to the next, it is easy to forget that this is not the norm everywhere. Sure there is variety in many cities in the US, but we experience the full range of it here. Recently, I celebrated a birthday and my kids took me to a Japanese restaurant for the occasion. The maître d’ and staff brought me a tray with an orchid, a glass of delicious pudding and a happy birthday chocolate added to top it off. I was touched and grateful. Here’s hoping your birthdays and weekends are joyful. More below!
“Meditation is the dissolution of thoughts in Eternal awareness or Pure consciousness without objectification, knowing without thinking, merging finitude in infinity.” Voltaire
As far as I understand it, we can merge our vision of the creative process by testing lots of tools. This has been a lesson in moving from the mundane to the magical and I bet there is so much more to learn. FYI! You can create your own lovely collages/merges with pixlr. To create your own photo collages, go to pixlr express. Enjoy the creativity… Have an awesome weekend! 😉 Thank you for stopping by! Hope you enjoyed this! What are your thoughts? What photos did you share on MERGE to fit the challenge? Was it easy/hard to find photos that supported your perspective on the subject? Were you drawn to certain types of photos for the prompt? Do share? Thank you! 🙂 😉
*Please bear with me as I continue to catch up on your blogs and commenting… Thank you all for your patience! 🙂
My fellow bloggers were equally creative with their selections. I listed several via Zemanta & WP Daily Post below. (I will update it and add more). We all appreciate trackbacks/ping-backs and Likes from fellow bloggers too! Check out how others interpreted the theme – MERGE – also below. ***
This post was inspired by a prompt from WP Daily Post: Weekly Photo Challenge: Merge. This week’s photo challenge is guest hosted by Gary Ng of Gnostec Photography. Read on for more about this week’s theme and his photography tips! Merge. The world is made up of many things. There is a saying that opposites attract, and this is true for relationships and other things. What about photography? Many surprises can come out of merging two different entities into one. Sometimes this fusion of the elements is what we call art.
For instance, try placing an object where it does not belong. Or, juxtapose two different objects. The statements they make together may be contradictory, but remember: break the rules and experiment. As for me, I love merging the arts, especially two distinctly different types of art. On one side, there is the performing arts—a ballerina, for instance—and on the other side, there is architecture. Let’s see what you can MERGE in a photo!
Positive Motivation Tip: Merging opposites can open our eyes to new ways of seeing or imagining the world… Try it!
