Haiku: OBSTACLES
“If you find a path with no obstacles, it probably doesn’t lead anywhere.” Frank A. Clark

Haiku: OBSTACLES – Things that hold us back
Our daily challenge…
To kvetch or to kvell
Life, and its moments
Our daily challenge…
To stay in bed or get up
Face … our worldly chores
Our daily challenge
Engage with social media
Bid it all adieu
Our daily challenge…
To create masterpieces
Obstacles or nyet
Can limitations and obstructions push us forward in our creative work? Definitely. Every day we wake up and get out of bed, we open our doors to a wide range of potential and real obstacles. From a creative standpoint, while facing obstacles, we have to decide if we want to rip off our masks and stand exposed to our audience as we tackle sensitive or perhaps controversial subjects. We have to decide whether we want our masks firmly screwed to our faces as we skip through life pretending to be someone else… Whichever path we choose, there is a toll, and we must find our way to where we wish to be. Hopefully, our creative muse will rise to meet us there.
“We all have obstacles. The feeling of satisfaction comes by overcoming something.” Marta

Haiku: OBSTACLES – Things that hold us back
Our daily challenge
To drop our masks or hold on
Try another day
Our daily challenge
To write or not write our truth
Let sleeping dogs lie
Our daily challenge
To eat sweets or exercise
Shed those extra pounds
Our daily challenge
To face our fears and climb them
Or live with regrets
Being able to navigate through this daily minefield we call life keeps us going, and fuels our creative spirit, while teaching us lessons to help us respond effectively as we maneuver through our limitations… Above and below, I have included an array of things we face in our waking hours, and you are welcome to add more in the comments.

“It’s part of life to have obstacles. It’s about overcoming obstacles; that’s the key to happiness.” Herbie Hancock

Haiku: OBSTACLES – Things that hold us back
Our daily challenge
To curb our extra spending
Blow right through our funds
Our daily challenge
See good in humanity
Or watch in disdain
Our daily challenge
To decipher what ails us
our journey through life
Our daily challenge
To push through our obstacles
Or wait … and stagnate
One of my challenges is figuring out ways to write Haiku that don’t sound like rhyming songs … Hahaha, I know it’s cool. But, whatever! The creative process meets us where we are, and we can go with the flow or overanalyze our experiences. For now, I invite you to share what ails you. What obstacles blur your path?
This post was inspired by a WordPress Prompt: Discover Challenge: OBSTACLES – For this week’s challenge, tell us about a time when you had to deal with an obstacle in your creative process, whether it was a bad case of writer’s block, some rigid rules you had to work around, or some other limitation — financial, technical, mental — that set you back (bonus points if you share or link to the work in question!). Did you manage to transcend the obstacle, or was it too much to deal with at the time? More importantly, what did you learn about yourself and your creativity in the process? I look forward to your responses!
And The WordPress Daily Post: Mask Write a new post in response to today’s one-word prompt. Not sure how to participate? Here are the steps to get started.

I love this, i’ts always good to keep keeping on. I love your haiku!
I agree that obstacles and limitations plays a role in ones life but how you deal with and overcome is makes you better in whatever you do. As far as blurring my path, no, it helps me to focus on the goal I have set and work hard to achieve it.
I do think obstacles can push up to be more creative. You have to learn to think and react differently. You have to figure out what to do next.
I love the sense of satisfaction you get from overcoming an obstacle. There were always be challenges along the way, but if we deal with them with positivity, we can overcome anything.
I love this. Right now my main obstacle is letting go the negativity that brings me down. Sounds easier done though!
Obstacles are so important. You can give up and when you meet one or you can keep working your way around it!
If we didn’t have challenges and obstacles the achievements would not be as sweet =)
I think time is a big obstacle for me. There just aren’t enough hours in a day for me to get everything done!
interesting – little long for reading..could be shorter
regards
Another refreshing post ! its been a couple of weeks since ive been reading your haikus and i want to write one, but whenever i try to i get stuck, do you have any tips? =)
They say that there’s no such thing as writers block but I’ve been facing that obstacle for months now. I need to overcome it!
I think right now the obstacles are negative comments. It is hard to put yourself out there when people respond to negativity. It makes me think why do they bother. Also, thinking of new things to write about. Sometimes my mind just can’t think up an idea.
I have had many road blocks in life… somehow, I manage to move past them as I take them on as temporary challenges. Whether it’s writer’s block, finding work or organizing my finances, I try to think strategically to move forward!
This post reminds me of the Churchill saying: “If you’re going through Hell, keep going!”
I agree I have had so many obstacles recently and I am trying to figure out ways to overcome them. It is difficult.
Obstacles can change our lives and our family and friends are ready to help to fight every obstacle come in our lives.
“If you find a path with no obstacles, it probably doesn’t lead anywhere.” I love that quote! It’s so true – I say all that time “that would be too easy”. I think you appreciate things more the more obstacles you have to circle to get to the end result.
I do sometimes face some obstacles especially when I write. To counter that, I would often read some materials for inspiration. Or, I would go to our backyard and look at the flowers and plants.
I often encounter some obstacles, especially when I write. When nothing seems to form into words, I would read some materials to get inspiration or I would go to our backyard and look at the flowers and plants. Sometimes, I just sketch or color some drawings.
Obstacle is the best way to prove who you are ! Without obstacle there is no challenge, and without challenge there is no self-improvement
I think we’re all presented with obstacles in life, and how we face them says a lot about our character!
I, too, think every day is a gift and needs to be appreciated. There are no obstacles, only opportunities.
I have to concentrate really hard on not being frustrated by obstacles or curve balls in life. I have come to realize that sometimes they are just the delay I need.
My obstacles sometimes frustrate me. I need to view them as a challenge.
Great post as usual, I see obstacles as challenges to make me stronger!
I think overcoming obstacles in every area of life helps us grow and expand! It also increases our faith in ourselves that we have what it takes to overcome!
I think anytime you have an obstacle in your life, it helps prepare you for the harder journey to come. It also makes you stronger and wise to situations that will arise in your life.
Haha yes, my daily challenge is to stay in bed or get up. It’s amazing to read a post like this. We all need some motivational words every now and then, as much as we need our daily bread.
So true!!! You really can learn from anything! It’s just in how we choose to view it
Obstacles are there to make us stronger and it’s always rewarding when we overcome them 🙂
Our daily challenge
To eat sweets or exercise
Shed those extra pounds
This one made me laugh because it’s such a daily struggle!! I want to lose weight but food is sooo good!
Welcome to the club! 🙂
I suffered from writer’s block way back, it was a huge obstacle that I had to overcome. Maybe it was because I got burned out by writing new articles everyday all the while still taking care of my husband and 3 kids. I’m glad I never suffered from it anymore when I took a more relaxed approach to blogging. Without the pressure of being able to dish out one article a day, it was all good!
It must have been incredibly stressful to keep such a schedule. I did a daily post a couple of years ago and it nearly did me in. Hahaha! I prefer my current schedule as it gives me enough time and space to think and create in a meaningful way. TY! 🙂
I guess we can always use these limitations and obstructions as inspiration to get to where we want to go. We ought not let them get in the way. Lovely haiku!
I believe that obstacles helps us to strive more in pursuing our goals in life.
i totally agree – its a struggle to get up in the morning. but when i enrolled myself to school and I was the one who paid for it I have no reason to be lazy getting up early
Loved how you were able to use words like kvetch and kvell in a haiku. I would not even think of these words. You are really a haiku master, such clear messages here.
overcoming your obstacles is just the best feeling ever. its the satisfaction for me
An easy life can quickly become a boring life. It’s the obstacles in our life that push us to strive for success.
“Our daily challenge To eat sweets or exercise Shed those extra pounds”
oh man, this resonate so well with me! i’m battling my sugar cravings day in day out, hoping to see those pounds going off.
Even though I am an optimist I know there will be obstacles so they do not throw me off unlike my pessimistic husband who goes nuts at the slightest obstacle!
love this post, we are all obstacles in life that we need to face it.
I struggle with a few obstacles every now and then. Life wouldn’t be life without them!
My blog is ailing me. There is a bug in it that’s preventing my sidebar from working, and it’s driving me insane. I have backups, but they don’t seem to be working either. I’m so ready to tear my hair out.
Ugh! I know that feeling when you know a problem exists but little works… I hope you can resolve it soon… Maybe an expert would find out what’s going on…
Obtacles are put in our place to test how much we want something and how much we really want to achieve something in life. It also makes us stronger which is very important.
Life is indeed filled with obstacles. It’s our own will that leads us through the obstacles…
Just re-visiting this post because I liked it so much the first time. Obstacles can make us stronger. They can also make us more appreciative.
I reckon with this quote, “We all have obstacles. The feeling of satisfaction comes by overcoming something.” It’s more like the challenges or circumstances we encounter on daily basis eventually propels the success stories achieved. The feeling is like a youth elixir!
Everyday is a challenge. But we should not let these obstacles stop us for becoming better and enjoying life and the things around us! Great Haiku.
I have quite a few obstacles that have prevented me from being the person I really want to be, and to be honest the biggest is myself. I doubt myself a lot and I need to have a bit more confidence in myself.
Such an inspiring article with some great motivational quotes & those beautiful pictures as well. We all face so many obstacles every day & it is up to you to handle it & look at the positive side to get the best out of it.
Obstacles – we all face whatever the task. Sometimes, it can be external factors causing obstacles and sometimes inner. It is important to overcome them and move forward.
The struggle is real for me sweets and exercise is my biggest challenge and on weekends getting up and doing something
I remember wordpress got banned in Pakistan by the national authorities and only self hosted sites wore working at that time. I had to urgently get my self a domain! They were quite hectic days.
Sometimes the best way to overcome an obstacle is to ignore it and come back to it another time, but that can be so hard to do!
I think obstacles is what makes us greater, it is what make us evolve and improve ourselves.. I mean, without cold and freezing we wouldnt discover fire.. or without many struggles we wouldnt find out how much we worth it
“It’s part of life to have obstacles. It’s about overcoming obstacles; that’s the key to happiness.” Herbie Hancock
This right here says it all! We won’t find happiness until we know how to overcome obstacles
You are going to find so many obstacles and you are going to get your feelings hurt. At first it is somewhat exciting, but after so many months of the same routine, it gets old, and more boring …but still life goes on…achieve your GOAL no matter what obstacles in life comes.
One day when we look back, the greatest memories are not just the smooth sailing moments but also the obstacles we have overcome…
I guess anything worth having is definitely something you have to earn. Obstacles is a way to make us earn it and make it a lot more sweeter.
My obsticle seems to stem from lack of inspiration or drive. It’s an obsticle I need to get over to have a successful blog.
I use to write poems daily for about 5 years now I have experienced writers block when trying to complete crearive writing
I love writing Haiku for the longest time. I know I did a few really good ones. But now it will take me awhile to do this again. Practice is always the best. Thanks for sharing this inspirational post!
Obstacles or challenges are what make life interesting. Sometimes, we hate these obstacles as they hinder our path, but when we get past them, we become stronger, our goals become clearer and life becomes more meaningful.
This has some fact in this LOVE it… I like the way it is written..
i think having an obstacle in life is helping us to give the best of what we can do rather than just be negative about it
Your haiku looks very interesting! And so are obsticals, overcoming it makes me feel fuller. But it’s important not to have to many, heheh
