This is my wish for you: peace of mind, prosperity through the year, happiness that multiplies, health for you and yours, fun around every corner, energy to chase your dreams, joy to fill your holidays! D.M. Dellinger

Merry Christmas! Happy Holidays! Each year, as this particular holiday rolls around, I marvel at how quickly the year seemed to have flown by. I pause and take stock of the fact that soon enough, exactly one week later, the New Year will ring our doorbells laden with new gifts, goals, and opportunities for growth. How did 2018 end up for you? How are you preparing for the coming year? What will you do differently in 2019? At the start of the year, so many of us jumped in feet first and made promises to conquer the world, create new planets and exhale and excel. While some of us dared to try, and achieved a modicum of success, others rolled back their plans as unexpected demands took over their plans. Yet, a few simply found it all too enervating and threw in the towel well before the end of spring.  Regardless of where we started and ended up in 2018, what matters is that if you are reading this, you made it. Okay? You made it and have another chance to give it your best shot in 2019. Never give up. As long as there is life, there is HOPE.

Holidays by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
The holiest of all holidays are those
Kept by ourselves in silence and apart;
The secret anniversaries of the heart,
When the full river of feeling overflows;–
The happy days unclouded to their close;
The sudden joys that out of darkness start
As flames from ashes; swift desires that dart
Like swallows singing down each wind that blows!
White as the gleam of a receding sail,
White as a cloud that floats and fades in air,
White as the whitest lily on a stream,
These tender memories are;–a fairy tale
Of some enchanted land we know not where,
But lovely as a landscape in a dream.

To many people, holidays are not voyages of discovery, but a ritual of reassurance. Philip Andrew Adams

Holiday gift suggestions: To your enemy, forgiveness. To an opponent, tolerance. To a friend, your heart. To a customer, service. To all, charity. To every child, a good example. To yourself, respect. Oren Arnold
Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind. To cherish peace and goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas. Calvin Coolidge

What was 2018 like? For me, 2018 was a year of challenges, tests of faith, loss, miraculous blessings, and renewal. My daughters lost their beloved grandfather in December, and one of my best friends lost her boyfriend in the same month. Health issues were not minimal but I weathered them. My car got totaled in a nasty accident in May and other types of challenges kept me on my aching back and feet fighting. An online group I created content for and helped manage went south leaving many of us hurt and disappointed. Yet, through it all, there were many moments of joy, magical grace and peace. I spent time with family here and abroad. Renewed my faith by joining a local place of worship and making friends – Northway church.  Started several new Facebook groups/communities that are thriving. Reconnected with a few old friends and rekindled my love for music and concerts. The year isn’t quite over but I am filled with gratitude for the good and the difficulties. Christmas Day will be upon us In less than 24 hours and I am excited about celebrating the birth of Christ with my loved ones. What about you?

Dearest Santa,
Thank you for the blessings you showered on us this year. Thank you for the new friends and fresh opportunities. We are all grateful… My wish for the coming year is more goodwill, grace and abundance in the world, and less misery, meanness and scarcity!
Please don’t mix these two up like you did last year! 🙂
With love & gratitude to all,

Motivation Mondays: Happy Holiday Wishes & Merry Christmas

I have always thought of Christmas as a good time; a kind, forgiving, generous, pleasant time; a time when men and women seem to open their hearts freely, and so I say, God bless Christmas! Charles Dickens
Christmas, my child, is love in action. Every time we love, every time we give, it’s Christmas.” Dale Evans Rogers

Happy Holidays to everyone! As I prepare to wrap up the holidays with my family, I can’t help but think of those in need. The holidays is NOT always blissful for everyone. It is a sad time for some, a rehashed memory for a few, and a mixed blessing for others. One thing I know for sure about this season is that it is called the giving Season for a reason; it’s the end of year,  Hanukkah, Christmas and the spirit of Kwanzaa beckon us to reflect, rejoice and return the goodwill by sharing our largess with the less fortunate in or communities. As we purchase and share holiday gifts, we should remember to offer a helping hand to those in need. The true spirit of giving in this season is about giving to those who have no one to give them anything. Reach out and give to your favorite charities, include others at your table and in your heart. We are all deserving of the goodwill of the Christmas season. Make a difference. No effort is too small or wasted. I also want to say THANK YOU to everyone who reads or helps me with this blog. I thank you for your support, blog love, visits and comments!  Without the support of our communities, we toil in silence. May abundant grace always meet you at your door…

Happy Holidays: Grace & Gratitude to All!

A Christmas Prayer by Robert Louis Stevenson
“Loving Father,
help us to remember the birth of Jesus,
that we may share in the song of the angels,
the gladness of the shepherds,
and the worship of the wise men.

Close the door of hate and
open the door of love all over the world.
Let kindness come with every gift and
good desires with every greeting.

Deliver us from evil by the blessing
which Christ brings, and teach us to
be merry with clear hearts.

May the Christmas morning make us happy
to be Thy children, and the Christmas evening
bring us to our beds with grateful thoughts,
forgiving and forgiven, for Jesus‘ sake. Amen.” Via yahoo.voices

Sounds like we both had bad 2018’s. Mine was filled with unemployment, loss and struggles. only a few good things came of the year. But im trying my absolute hardest for a better 2019 and it looks like you’re hopeful to do the same. So I wish you a happy new years and hope that 2019 is much kinder to you than this past year.

What an honest look over the past year! I think the most important part of the end of the year is looking back over how you have grown since the beginning of the previous year, and then look at the year to come as an opportunity for more growth and a blessing that you are still here!

It is always fun to look back on Christmases past and see what it was like compared to now. So, Elizabeth, it seems that 2018 was a tough one in that you lost a family member and that car accident seemed bad. But you too survived. I wonder how it was compared to this December during a year of pandemic, financial crisis, and other possible pains? I always think it is funny when I hear, “if I knew then what I know now..” Well, this year has been brutal for us but I wonder what it taught me and how it compares to pains of my past that I thought were too hard to over come yet I did. Perhaps by reflecting on that, I can see the true Hope in the Holidays and in life.
