Photo Challenge: Out Of this World?

Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand. Albert Einstein
Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive. Howard Thurman

This week’s Photo Challenge on Out Of This World had me thinking about the ways we go about creating photographic content for our challenges. Do we jump at the theme and find the one photo that fits? Do we reach back to a triggered memory and find a way to make it fit? Do we throw our hands up in the air and then seek out an admissible option? Maybe you pursue all three or even look for more nuanced considerations. I don’t know… I missed the last two Photo Challenge assignments on Sweet and A Face In the Crowd for a variety of reasons; life, work, and the simple fact that a nasty case of the flu sidelined any creative expression/reflection I might have had to help me through the photography selections. Trust me, I think having a muse is an important requisite of the challenge. Imagine if we all presented photos that were exactly as called for and shared them from the same point of view as shared in the assignment? It would make for a very dull experience. So we all take our own creative leaps and land where we may.

Take all the fools out of this world and there wouldn’t be any fun living in it, or profit. Josh Billings
A hundred years from now it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove…but the world may be different because I was important in the life of a child. Forest E. Witcraft
Love doesn’t make the world go ’round. Love is what makes the ride worthwhile. Franklin P. Jones

Because we come to our Wednesday photography theme from so many different perspectives, photog skill-sets/experiences and personal philosophies, the diverse contributions make the collection so fascinating to sift through. This is the pivotal reason why I love the range of WP Community members who participate in it. So, as a way to pay catch up while still honoring today’s photo challenge, Out Of This World, I will share a mixture of photos that cover all three subjects… Let’s see if I can come up with a selection worthy of a decent collage. After all, anything can be an out of this world experience if we showed enough enthusiasm. right?

You will never do anything in this world without courage. It is the greatest quality of the mind next to honor. Aristotle
Society exists only as a mental concept; in the real world there are only individuals. Oscar Wilde
The world is a dangerous place. Not because of the people who are evil; but because of the people who don’t do anything about it. Albert Einstein

What inspires your creative expressions? Whether it’s food, nature, people, places, art or all sorts of unnamed things that inspire your creativity, one thing we know for sure is that we will always find a surprise in the pack. As I gathered my photos, I found myself revisiting some of the memories behind the photos and they were still present in my heart. Do come back to learn more about the photos I included…

This post was inspired by a prompt from WP Daily Post:  – OUT OF THIS WORLD –  This week, share a photo that takes a familiar scene — a place you frequent, a face you know well, an activity you engage in regularly — and makes it look and feel like something out of this world. Feel free to interpret the theme as loosely as you see fit. I look forward to seeing your photos!
