FAVORITES: For my final photo challenge favorite selections for 2017, I decided to share some photos I didn’t get to use and a few I did. Since we are in the season of holiday gifting, I also chose to share some of my foods from around the world; Try The World food selections are a great gift idea and the collages always make me hungry. I have a few more photos to share for this list still in the works. For those of you who are curious about the mother holding a baby sculpture, it is part of a nine piece sculpture series created by internationally recognized artist/sculptor, Joy Brown. It is across from the West 96th St subway station in Manhattan and is called One Holding Small One. I will feature all nine in a post. They have influences from her childhood in Japan and, like all the wonderful street art I come across in NYC, this series warms my heart. You can read more about her works in the three articles below.
The bottom shot is called Sailor Kiss and it is a depiction of a famous post World War II photograph taken at Times Square. This equally popular Street art depiction is by Street artist extraordinaire, Eduardo Kobraa Brazilian artist who uses kaleidoscopic color ranges to create beautiful murals and paintings on walls around the world. This one is painted against a wall by the High Line walking trail in lower Manhattan. Kobra’s work always takes my breath away beacye the colors are vibrant and the mural ais huge… Definitely a favorite. Since I love quotes, I added some of my favorites from Brainy Quotes top 100 selections. Do come back for my other photos.

This post was inspired by a prompt from WP Daily Post: – FAVORITES – This week, To celebrate the end of the year, share the most meaningful photo you’ve taken in 2017. From the photo that generated the most reactions on your blog to the one that has the deepest emotional pull on you, define “favorite” in whatever way works best for you. Your chosen image doesn’t have to be one you’ve already shared in a previous Photo Challenge. Anything goes, as long as it’s a photo from 2017. If you want to share several images, that’s fine too — a “best of 2017” gallery could be fun if you can’t settle on one photo.
Positive Motivation Tip: Enjoy all your favorites by sharing them with those you love!

Great photos and inspirational quotes. Well picked.
Very nice photos and beautiful quotes too! The first collage makes me feel like life is so meaningful and vibrant and is beautiful that way. 🙂
I so needed to read this post today. I went to bed feeling a bit discouraged about my growth online and for a few other reasons, and reading this quote totally helped bring my perspective and goals back into focus: Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you plant. Robert Louis Stevenson
Thank you!
I’m jealous of all the beauty around you to take pictures of! This is a very cool idea!
I really want to try the Try the World boxes. You always receive such interesting goodies and I’m tempted to try them out myself. I hope you have a great holiday!
Thanks for sharing these positive motivation tips constantly…!! I just love reading them.
I need to try some of these! I actually found a subscription box that brings you monthly foods from around the world! Loved your photos!

The Joy Brown sculpture is really interesting. It will be great to see your photos of her other ones. These were all really good shots!
Beautiful photos and great quotes! Love these challenges.
Interesting set of pics. Being a new mommy, I esp love the pic of the parent & child sculpture. Happy Christmas & New Years to you and your family Elizabeth!
These favorites collections remind of every past holiday when we’ve done a “favorites list” of things we have really liked throughout the year. It could be tangible or intangible, but really great to think back on the year and what favorite things there were.
I love end of year roundups! That Anne Frank quote is so true. Love.
I can see why these photos left such a profound impact on you. I especially love the sculpture of the mother holding the baby. So touching and so intriguing at the same time. What a great challenge!
I am enjoying all your favorites, We share in favs as a matter of fact. My all time fav is the colorful one with the couple kissing.
I love that re-visioned photo of the solider kissing the nurse! It has always been one of my favorite photos and this pop of color is so cool!
Favorites! This is the best word to celebrate the end of year. And your motivation tip fits so well in this festive mood, “Enjoy all your favorites by sharing them with those you love”
Super photos, as always. I love the idea of try the world food collages. This is deffo food for thought 🙂 x
As always your pictures are beautiful! My favorite picture is one of five of my grandchildren together. Play clothes, tossed hair, dirty hands simply kids enjoying each other and enjoying nature.
Really love the sunset photo. Nature photography or natural photography as always been my favorite.
Food collages make me hungry as well. But I agree with the quote that it’s not what you look at but what you see. Powerful thought!
Love your favourites of the years, they look so colorful and eventful! I wish you a new year full of new wonderful adventures!
I absolutely adore the Kobra piece of street art you’ve picked out here – he’s one of my favourite street artists, and I don’t think he’s recognised enough! I took this same pic when I was in New York, walking the High Line trail x
I took mine on the High Line trail too because that is probably the best angle to shoot it from. It is harder to do so from the street. Wonderful you recognized his work… I love him too. 🙂
Have you ever seen any of his other pieces around? I would love to see more, but don’t even know where to begin looking for them! x
Will update here when I find out…
These photos are beautiful! The vibrant soldier one is my favorite. I love the quotes you included as well!
I really love your photos.. It’s my favourite as well.. Great shoot!
Those were very inspiring quotes with interestingly looking pictures. I’ve read some of those quotes before, especially Anne Frank. Next time I read a book, I should note/save their quotable sayings in my journal.
Happy holidays to you.
Thanks!
Your choice of quotes is exactly what I needed to hear right now – thank you, Eliz! 😀 And I wish you a wonderful New Year!
You’re photography is just simply amazing and tge best

very interesting choice of pictures for this montage! I think the one with the colourful kiss puts everything together quite nicely! 🙂
What a cute theme for the end of the year! I think you chose really lovely photos, I really like that of the sculpture of a mom holding a baby.
I like that quote from Anne Frank… 2017 has been a pretty trying yet fulfilling year for me… I survived it thanks to having my favourite boyfriend with me!
You did a good job at this challenge. I really loved your posts this year. Can’t wait to see what you will share with us in 2018.
This is such a beautiful set of photos posted and as a mom, I really admire the sculpture of the mother holding the baby.
The first quote by Swami Vivekananda is so inspirational! The sculpture of the mother holding her baby is beautiful!
Lovely job with this challenge. Looks like you were able to capture a lot of great photos this year.
A dove, a sculpture, a dress, a sunset… Simple things, yet meaningful. Makes me think that you had both an eventful, yet peaceful and happy year. Hope the next one will be even better!
These are gorgeous! The sailor one is my fav!
The quotes you chose is such a great inspiration! And the photo collages are absolutely stunning as well!
I enjoy your photo challenges very thought provoking and meaningful. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for this post! I always need the extra motivation to be persistent in things I want and to not get distracted.
There are some photos here that made my favorites list, as well. I love the quote by Volitaire; it has made my favorites list, too.
I guess I can say that the idea that lives in me is music. It makes me happy and I use it to try to make others happy too. I guess you can say it is part of our duty as occupants of this earth. The Huxley quote is so awesome and true. Great post.
I’m especially loving the colourful mural shot – it has an incredibly array of colours there!!
Love all these photos! So gorgeous and have so much meaning. Well done!
This is an especially fitting time to look back on faves! I’m looking back at all my favorites as well, and being thankful for so much
I love your photos! I have tons of unused photos too in my phone and camera. Maybe I’ll sort them at the end of the year.
Your final photo challenge is so wonderful and such a great quote. I will share this with my friends.
What a great set of photos! I particularly like the one of the street art – I love street art!
Great choices, always so inspirational and I love looking to see what pictures you have choosen!!!
I think that’s probably why I fail so much. I can’t hold on to one idea the whole time. I definitely need to redefine what success means to me.
all the photos are fantastic! such a great selection! my fav is the Kobra’s one! so colorful!
I just love the collection of quotes. Extremely inspiring. Can’t wait for 2018 to go create a trail!
I like the concept of doing photo challenges, it’s very inspirational. Thanks for sharing these and of course your dope quotes. I may have to do something similar on my blog.
Xx,
Aïchatou Bella
Cool photos! I love the inspirational quotes you picked!
I have never tried the World boxes but it sounds amazing! Eduardo Kobra is one of my favorite street artists. I saw his David Bowie Mural in Jersey City as well as few other street art in New York and Chicago!
Fantastic!
These are some lovely photos, I love the really colourful one!
These are all great photos for 2017. My personal favorite is the sunset with the bench in it. I love that picture as I am a sunset fanatic, they are all so pretty!
I love sunsets too…
I really love your favorites photo collage and inspirational quotes. I hope you are having a great and wonderful year.
Love love the pictures! I definitely want to take more picture this year! I always snapchat things and forget to actually appreciate the beauty!
You have a lot of very interesting photos, but the one that interests me the most is the photo in the park of what looks like a golden sculpture. I can’t tell what it is, but it’s very intriguing.
I’m embarrassed to admit that I forgot to take a photo of the sculptor’s name and haven’t been able to find it.
The statue looks likes something I have seen in an anime. It really stands out to you and is very memorable. Is it like a Madonna & Child?
Possibly… mother and child is part of the name
What a great way to end the year. Your favorites from the year are so bright and colorful they exude happiness.
Awesome. 🙂
I love the Sailor’s Kiss. What a great piece of art and lovely capture by you. I’ll have to check out his work next time I’m there!
Please do
As always I love your photos, some of course more than others. My favorite today is of the huge person holding the small person. This could be conceived in so many ways. I also would like you to know that I truly enjoy the quotes you choose. They are so inspirational.
I love that one too. It is part of street art collection in NYC
I love this: Take up one idea. Make that one idea your life – think of it, dream of it, live on that idea. I am a firm believer that when we think of something it happens- so why not think of our favorite thing!?
Love it too! 🙂
I love photos you’ve taken and the one you picked for the last challenge! I love the one with the white bird ( I don’t really see which one is it). But in our culture, when you see the white bird it’s believed that someone of your loved one who died is visiting you. It’s quite symbolic and I really love it!
I hope you will do posts like these in 2018! I’m sorry that I’m being late to the party but Happy New Year and Christmas <3
Thank you Ana! Never too late
Why is it 2018 and I have still not done a photo challenge? I will need to add it to my bucket list.
Good question. 😉
Your photos did justice to the word, “Favorites.” The quotes are likewise thought-provoking. I like this quote the best – “If you cannot do great things, do small things in a great way. Napoleon Hill” It just motivates me to do more.
N. Hill has the best quotes. 🙂
Great lovely photos. I love them all and thanks for making 2017 such an inspiration.
Glad you do.
I love this compilation of photos that you’ve put together. You’ve done an incredible job over the past year with your photo challenges — I always look forward to seeing what you’ll be posting about each week! 🙂
Oh TY Emily. Appreciated
I absolutely love all of your gorgeous photographs and I enjoy these quotes so very much …
I love that Kobra mural. It’s so colorful and full of life! It means having the life to its fullest!
Indeed
Great pictures – that sunset one is totally stunnng!
I love that colorful graffiti art! It’s better than most art found in modern art museums. Stunning display of colors and so much energy and positivism. What are the chances that the artist sells a print version?
Classic Kobra work. He is known for his use of splashy colors.
I love your selection of photos, especially the art of Kobra. It’s really inspiring. I like that you also introduced us to different cuisines of the world through the Try the World food selections.
Hahaha! I love food
Oooo I think you did a great job! I want to give this a shot. It’s nice to see such colorful imagery! x
Every one of your pictures has a story to tell and I particularly love the vibrancy of the Kobra mural. The accompanying quotes are so inspiring too.
Glad you liked them
Your selection of pictures in incredible – not just the work itself, but also the ideas behind. Thank you for sharing!
Great photos and inspiring quotes. I love the pic of the sculpture of the parent with the baby on their knee.
2017 had so many favorite moments for me but I can’t say it’s been my best year. it was all about keeping a positive attitude! But going into 2018, it’s been rockin asks rollin! Happy 2018. It’s almost February already!
Happy New Year!
It’s exciting to think that you’ve got a whole new year for more beautiful photos. These look great.
