Photo Challenge: TRANSFORMATION

24/11/2017

“Transformation is a process, and as life happens there are tons of ups and downs. It’s a journey of discovery – there are moments on mountaintops and moments in deep valleys of despair.” Rick Warren

The universe is transformation: life is opinion. Marcus Aurelius
When we quit thinking primarily about ourselves and our own self-preservation, we undergo a truly heroic transformation of consciousness. Joseph Campbell

Transformation is Inevitable: Several weeks ago, I created a photo post on Glow and it was such fun to do. When I saw this week’s challenge on Transformation, it occurred to me to take another look at the hanging basket of yellow garden chrysanthemums on my terrace. The cold weather has set in and, as is the case in nature and life, transformations have taken place. Some dictionary definitions of transformation express it as a dramatic change but, I’m more inclined to go with Merriam-Webster’s definition; it is a change in appearance that could be subtle, gradual or dramatic. The collage above shows both stages of change for the mums. The early fall blooms are rich with green leaves. The late fall is another story. The leaves have died and the buds are slowly turning the color of straw. Eventually, they will brown and fall. Transformation can be grand or small. All augurs change…

“Asking the proper questions is the central action of transformation. Questions are the key that causes the secret doors of the psyche to swing open.” Clarissa Pinkola Estes

People need to realize how powerful the transformation of soil can be. Ron Finley
The way of the Creative works through change and transformation, so that each thing receives its true nature and destiny and comes into permanent accord with the Great Harmony: this is what furthers and what perseveres. Alexander Pope

Trust The Process: One of the gifts that come with transformative events in nature and in life is learning to trust the process and let go. Instead of clutching on to the past for dear life and becoming stagnant, transformation gives all forms of life a chance at renewal, rebirth and reincarnation… yes, that is true.

As the world undergoes a major transformation, it’s the time of significant opportunity and also threat. Viktor Orban
If you begin to understand what you are without trying to change it, then what you are undergoes a transformation. Jiddu Krishnamurti

Transformation is a Radical Process: Every thing in nature and life is ephemeral. We need the constant shift and transformations that keep the seasons changing and us aging as it shows the natural and necessary progression of life.  No condition is permanent. Transformation is our collective lot.

This post was inspired by a prompt from WP Daily Post:  – TRANSFORMATION –   This week, share a photo that embodies transformation. There are myriad ways to capture Transformation. How will you interpret this theme? As always, I’m eager to see through your lens.

Positive Motivation Tip: Transformation can be grand or small. All augurs change…

my favorite quote about transformation says Transformation is a process, and as life happens there are tons of ups and downs. It’s a journey of discovery – there are moments on mountaintops and moments in deep valleys of despair. i love it because life has a lot of ups and down

Yes, it is not a linear experience and we learn all the lessons we are made to learn on this journey.

Agreed. Even though it is tough to go through the downs, it is imperative. If we don’t experience darkness we will not know light.

Transformation could be looked at so positively although with my depression it comes and goes. Right now my thought is to keep up with the things transforming time, weather, abilities, looks, the internet would be easiest if looked at positively then adjust or learn so that the transformation is easier. Tomorrow my thoughts will be different, I need daily reminders.

Your posts are always so inspiring. I love this topic. Transformation is a process and something that we as human beings tend to overlook sometimes. But when we stop and just breathe and look at our surroundings. That’s when we start noticing all the beautiful things that happens around us.

This is a difficult topic for me. I like to cling on to the past where everything is blooming and happy. I am not happy, and am often incapable of letting go. This is where grief comes in power and takes over my being – it can be grief over a dead flower, or grief over the days gone by. I know deep down that this shall pass as well, and I will recover, but for a moment, or sometimes for months, I tend to succumb to grief at transformations…

    • 11/12/2017 8:52 am

I can not agree more with not clutching on to the past and making your life stagnant but it is healthy both physically and mentally to let go of things and to give life another chance. I had the same experience and I still feel I wasted that part of my life clutching on to something. Beautiful references and quotations.

I really love this. As an actor and artist, it is so important for me and my castmates to remember that they don’t have to be perfect, but only growing and transforming. Especially the “trusting the process” part. I see a ton of people that resist their training in the arts because they do not want to work for something that they can’t see the immediate result, which I think is by human nature. Thank you for this post! I’m definitely going to point some friends this way to check this out!!

This is so right on ” One of the gifts that come with transformative events in nature and in life is learning to trust the process and let go.” People impatient as humans, sometimes we take things into our own hands and the results is different that what should’ve been. Sometimes we just got to slow down and let nature do it’s thing.

Transformation can be viewed in a bad light most importantly on what we’re experiencing in our world – Earth. I agree with you, a transformation is a radical process and that can be seen by how humans are transforming our Earth into a not-so-inviting form; in other words, we’re destroying our mother Earth 🙁 #EndClimateChange #ClimateChangeAwareness

It helps me to remember that change and transformation are inevitable in life, because nothing stays the same forever. Love the encouragement to not cling to the past, but to embrace the transforming days.

I agree with your post! My favorite quote about transformation is from Maya Angelou below.
“There were people who went to sleep last night,
poor and rich and white and black,
but they will never wake again.

And those dead folks would give anything at all
for just five minutes of this weather
    or ten minutes of plowing.

So you watch yourself about complaining.

    What you’re supposed to do
when you don’t like a thing is change it.
    If you can’t change it,
change the way you think about it.”

I think my biggest take away from your post is “trusting the process”. We recently moved to another state so my husband could find new job opportunities that weren’t available where we used to live. I didn’t particularly like our first location and the very rural area we lived in. Although beautiful, it was lacking in job opportunities and I didn’t have any trust in the process God was leading us through. Now on the other side of the whole thing, I realize exactly what His intentions for having us take this route to get to where we are now. It has taught me to trust the process more.

My take on transformation is that changes happen as a response to an external force/stimuli. We learn to fight because we need to protect ourselves from violence. We transform from a sweet, timid, little girl to a fighter when a need arises. Transformation is a process to either improve ourselves or to protect us from harm.
