Photo Challenge : Delta = Change

There is nothing permanent except change. Heraclitus
Change is the end result of all true learning. Leo Buscaglia
Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything. George Bernard Shaw
Without change there is no innovation, creativity, or incentive for improvement. Those who initiate change will have a better opportunity to manage the change that is inevitable. William Pollard

Delta = Change or difference: Everything around us is in constant motion, and with that comes change; steady, inevitable change. We can embrace it or fight it but, it presses on. Sometimes, change is stark and harsh, destroying everything in its path. At other times, it is subtle and gentle, nudging the process forward like the maturing of fine wine. Even when we think we can slow it down or speed it up, it has its own innate intelligence; a certain knowing that the time is ripe for X. We live in a youth worshiping culture where the young want to grow up fast and the old wish to turn back the clock with surgical and faddish procedures. But like Tempus, Delta demands to take precedence over all else. It is the same with the weather; somewhat unpredictable, changing at will as we tag along with instruments at hand and hope in our hearts. How is change manifesting in your life?

Every human has four endowments – self awareness, conscience, independent will and creative imagination. These give us the ultimate human freedom… The power to choose, to respond, to change. Stephen Covey
Wherever you are, be there totally. If you find your here and now intolerable and it makes you unhappy, you have three options: remove yourself from the situation, change it, or accept it totally. If you want to take responsibility for your life, you must choose one of those three options, and you must choose now. Then accept the consequences. Eckhart Tolle

What scares you about Change? When we come to terms with our power to choose our attitude, we can begin the process of getting on with living our lives, even in the midst of changes we abhor or accept. There’s a popular saying that “change is good” but is it really? If you asked a wizened Sage, you might hear “Neti, neti” – meaning neither this nor that. If you examine your life, you might add that Change A was great while Change X was a nightmare. In the middle of it all are the lessons learned, the teachings passed on and the acceptance it was neither good nor bad… it just is.

Change is just following the natural progression of life and whether we like it or not, it continues its march… Enjoy the shifting winds and seasons and let go of the need to control outcomes. As the photos above show, I walk by the Hudson River quite often and at different times of the day. Every time I walk by it, I ask myself: What has changed today? What looks different? I take my smartphone, load the camera, and capture a new experience in a familiar space. That is a Delta moment and there will be many more. Even though the river looks the same, there is much that changes above and below…

This post was inspired by a prompt from WP Daily Post:  DELTA  —  For this week’s photo challenge, share a picture that symbolizes transitions, change, and the passing of time. This week, share a photograph that signifies transitions and change to you. It can be the very beginning of a phase, or the very end. As you pick up your lens, explore the ways in which a single photograph can express time, while only showing us a small portion of any given moment.

I’ve gotten used to change as I aged but it was never easy before especially when it is unexpected. I agree so much that it has a lot to do with progress though. Without change there is no improvement.

I think what scares most people about change is the unknown. But life is always shifting. We just need to remember that the type of energy we give off and the things we think about most are the experiences that are drawn into our lives. If I were to take photographs depicting Delta Change, I would take an images of graduation, marriage, a family at a baseball game, and an elderly couple holding hands while walking in the park.

I was drawn in by the amazing photography, which gets my attention every time. Then there was change. Whether you like it or not, life is perpetual change. I am currently in a period of deliberate and planned change, which indeed feels good. There is much anticipation and things to look forward to. However, the whole thing reminds me again of the changes that I did not so much appreciate at all. One day, etched in my memory, I had arrived at my job — before I got out of the car that morning, I sat there and thought about how much I truly enjoyed my work. Within the week, I was in a different department, which did not delight me at all, but somehow led to an even better work situation. Life is all about change and going with it or taking control, as the case may be. There is much to think about in this post.

Change is a constant force to be reckoned with but we shouldn’t be scared of it. Just like aging it is always with us x

I love views from the Hudson River, especially from the Brooklyn side. It’s very calming to see natural flowing water, especially in a big hectic city like NYC.

I do not handle change well. It always feels negative to me even, if in the end, the change was beneficial. It is like my mind associates change with trouble. I have been trying to rethink it but so far no luck.

People are afraid of changes as changes give discomfort to our life. We need to adjust and adapt and face uncertainty of the changes we face. However changes make us strong and smarter.
