All theory, dear friend, is gray, but the golden tree of life springs ever green. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
The tree which moves some to tears of joy is in the eyes of others only a green thing that stands in the way. Some see nature all ridicule and deformity… and some scarce see nature at all. But to the eyes of the man of imagination, nature is imagination itself. William Blake

When you think of GREEN, what comes to mind? For me, nature pops up first because much of nature is green. Some people don’t like the color green. Perhaps because it is a fairly common color and familiarity can breed contempt. Yet green is a life force color that symbolizes fecundity, fertility, growth, youthfulness, life, money, health and, of course, the luck o’ the Irish. When I started doing some research on the color, I was delighted to find so much information on the positive power and beauty of the color-  Green –  Just as it creates harmony and a sense of  balance and clarity in nature, it passes the same to us by absorbing the carbon monoxide in the atmosphere and enriching us with oxygen. Come back for more on this topic. In the meantime, I invite you to embrace it in all its shades.

When you’re green, your growing. When you’re ripe, you rot. Ray Kroc
The garden of love is green without limit and yields many fruits other than sorrow or joy. Love is beyond either condition: without spring, without autumn, it is always fresh. Rumi

What would you do without the air purifying green in nature? Even if you have other colors that excite you, you must admit that green is calming and healing too. When I take a walk on the aqueduct, I rarely stop to think about how the color adds a layer of calm to my space. I see a sea of green and all is well with the world… STOP and enjoy it and be grateful for the greening of our planet; especially as there are those who would love to destroy our environment and turn it all grey.

This post was inspired by a prompt from WP Daily Post: GREEN – For this week’s challenge, we go green. Those of you who’d like to go more interpretive still have plenty of options: try an image of something you envy, or a photo inspired by the one of the other common associations with green (life, health, youth, money, hope). Otherwise, just bask in the color itself! If you want to push things a little more, try creating an image gallery to highlight multiple hues of this springtime shade. Show us your best image — we look forward to seeing everyone’s takes!
