Haiku: A Glimmer of HOPE

“Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness.” Desmond Tutu

Haiku: A Glimmer of HOPE

A glimmer of hope
helps us shift our perspective
from darkness to light

From hopeless moments
we find a pathway to move
despair to delight

Look at the rainbow
Does it hold dreary colors?
never let hope go…

This year has been one of many moments of delight and despair... As lives unraveled, and our global community experienced its share of horror and unrest, we learned to turn within for answers and to hold unto hope’s feet.  Stop, for a moment, and give thanks for the glimmer of hope that helped us all move forward. I am grateful for all who reached out to connect and offer their love and support. I am grateful for the steadiness of family and friends, for the goodness that found its way to my doorstep,  and for the wonderful folks who came into my life. The curiosity and wisdom of children around me kept me hopeful. The kindness of strangers and adults around me reminded me of why community matters. May all of us find delight in the promises of new beginnings in 2017. May 2017 bring more joy and less misery, more love and less hatred, and may our experiences of hope truly go viral. What are you rooting for in 2017?

“Hope smiles from the threshold of the year to come, whispering, ‘It will be happier.'” Alfred Lord Tennyson

Haiku: A Glimmer of HOPE

Don’t sit in sorrow…
What? Who have you lost this year
to the dance of death?

Let hopelessness go…
Candles burn, buds grow in snow
hopeless turns hopeful

As we shift focus
from souls lost … to gratitude
Hope will go viral

Hold onto the promises of hope… Even as 2017 approaches, I am still digesting the many events, happy and sad, that transpired this year. There were magical, morbid and memorable moments. Even an alliteration queen would agree and damn the critics who think alliteration is bad… It’s not.  As this year wraps up, I can’t  help but be tempted to wax poetic about all the things that gave us thrills and chills. We can thank 2016 for her harsh and helpful lessons, and hope for better in the coming year. As we move into 2017; a numerology 1 year and a year of new beginnings, let’s hope for a new year of abundant blessings.  2016 was a 9 year of endings and it is drawing nigh. Soon, a new dawn will be shimmering in the sky. May we have more peace, more peace, and more peace globally. Let’s keep hope alive. What do you hope for in 2017?

This post was inspired by a Discover Challenge prompt:   Hope Gone Viral – This week, using Rawe as your inspiration, take a moment to speak out about an act of kindness that you’ve come across recently. As the year comes to a close, find that glowing ember of hope that makes you excited for 2017. It can be something as personal as starting a new class or even a new blog, or something broader, like a burgeoning organization you’ve donated to or a story you saw about someone overcoming adversity.
