Weekly Photo Challenge: New Horizon

“Do not be in a hurry to succeed. What would you have to live for afterwards? Better make the horizon your goal; it will always be ahead of you.” William Makepeace Thackeray

Weekly Photo Challenge: New Horizon – Facing South beyond the Hudson River and more…

As a young adult, I loved hearing folks repeat the advice to keep our eyes on the prize as one day our ship will sail into the horizon to meet our goals/dreams/wishes. For some reason, no one spoke about the ship sailing out and coming home soon but, with time it all made sense. If we kept our eyes on the price, our goals were greater and the future held limitless opportunities. As Jose Andres once said, “I’m always looking to the future and what will next be on the horizon.” That is the gift of the horizon. For this week’s photo challenge on New Horizon, I went back to one of my favorite haunts, the Hudson River. This time, I took the main center photo and a few more from the 11th floor of a friend’s building. My main shot is south facing and you can see the George Washington Bridge, a tugboat, the NY skyline and another building in the distance… The green treetops offer a nice frame for it all. May the horizon guide you to greater achievements. For the other shots and locations, see the notes below.

To create a collage of locations, I added some more shots to frame the center on that shows the beautiful NY skyline and distant horizon. The photo with the bridge, top right, was taken at the top of Bear Mountain, NY and it’s a bridge that connects from one side of the lake to the other. The bottom left shot is of the beautiful Bavarian mountains in Germany. The other shots are mainly the Hudson River at different times of the day and from different spots… You can tell I love bodies of water because they are calming and cleansing. I also love horizon shots so I hope you enjoyed these. Have a wonderful weekend!

Happy Holidays!

This post was inspired by a prompt from WP Weekly Photo Challenge Post: – New Horizon – This week, we’re challenging you to think ahead and show your work in a representative photo. If you set New Year’s resolutions, give them some thought a few weeks early. If resolutions aren’t your style, show us something that you want to achieve — it could be setting a new goal, making plans, or even tackling that pile of laundry waiting by the washer. The goal is to get out of the busy “now,” and imagine your new horizon. Go!

Have a relaxing weekend!
