Motivation Mondays: THANKSGIVING

21/11/2016

“Gratitude is the inward feeling of kindness received. Thankfulness is the natural impulse to express that feeling. Thanksgiving is the following of that impulse”  Henry Van Dyke

Motivation Mondays: THANKSGIVING - Abundant & Happy Moments to all

Motivation Mondays: THANKSGIVING – Abundant & Happy Moments to all

Thankfulness is the beginning of gratitude. Gratitude is the completion of thankfulness. Thankfulness may consist merely of words. Gratitude is shown in acts. Henri Frederic Amiel
Gratitude is one of the sweet shortcuts to finding peace of mind and happiness inside. No matter what is going on outside of us, there’s always something we could be grateful for. Barry Neil Kaufman

What does Thanksgiving Mean to YOU? Whether you’ve had a prosperous, abundant year or a challenging year, one thing is certain, this is the season of Thanksgiving! It is a special time to pull ourselves and our loved ones close together and give thanks for the good we have seen and enjoyed around us. Thanksgiving is, for me, a time of reflection and reevaluation of what truly matters in our lives. It is a time to take stock of our successes and foibles and find a path to healing old wounds. Part of the history of this special holiday revolves around the gathering of the best harvested foods and sharing a meal with family, friends, and even foes. It is a time to show appreciation to our neighbors; this includes our global human family. So, this Happy Thanksgiving season can be a time to set aside old battles and make amends with those who have wronged us and vise versa. Of course, we must also remember that an important part of the holiday is to make it a time to share what we have by giving to those who have less.
What are your memories of Thanksgiving?  What more does Thanksgiving mean Memory wise?  If we are motivated by any act this year, let’s include an invitation to someone who has nowhere to go on Thanksgiving. Why? Because it will spread true happiness and good memories around. My first Thanksgiving in the USA was spent at the home of a dear college friend and it set the foundation for all the good memories I attach to this season. My friend, Lisa, invited me into her home and it was a generous gesture for my first Thanksgiving. Lisa’s family embraced me and I will always cherish it as an abundant blessing. As we prepare to celebrate another Thanksgiving, I invite you to consider inviting someone who might be alone, without family around, to join you. Share your good fortune and thanksgiving memories with others. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours! Do you invite others to your table and prepare a special dish or let others do the cooking?

WHAT AM I THANKFUL FOR?
My recipe of thanks will have …
A vat full of love,
Endless cups of life,
Pounds and ounces of friends,
100 ladles of family,
9 tablespoons of health,
1 teaspoon from home,
Sprinkles from everyone,
Bowls of everything that uplifts humanity,
Carefully fold in scoops of our pets,
Mix in the power of prayer and
Add God’s immutable grace…
Stir with gusto and enjoy! from Elizabeth & Family

“I am grateful for what I am and have. My thanksgiving is perpetual.”  Henry David Thoreau

If you want to turn your life around, try thankfulness. It will change your life mightily. Gerald Good
Cultivate the habit of being grateful for every good thing that comes to you, and to give thanks continuously. And because all things have contributed to your advancement, you should include all things in your gratitude. Ralph Waldo Emerson

What Are You Thankful For? As Thanksgiving Day beckons, I am reminded to express joy for the simplest things that make me thankful for each breath I take. I look around me and see the sparkle in people’s eyes and the hopefulness shared by others for a happy event. I look out my living room window and see some snowfall from last night and the many colors of the leaves that have fallen off the trees in my yard. The white, purple, red and orange/gold hues pull me in and for a moment, I am swept away to a place of deep joy and gratitude. Again, as we all prepare to enjoy our thanksgiving meals and the coming weekend, let’s not forget these important Thanksgiving Tips: Share our Thanksgiving History/Heritage, Give thanks/Be grateful, Practice food safety, and Gather informative, helpful travel tips. Thanksgiving and Gratitude are key themes this season. We can add patience and forgiveness to the mix too.

What do you value most? While I know that gratitude and thanksgiving are year round qualities, however, the point of this special day is to remind us all of what we value most; love, life, friends, family, health, our home, good food, every action that uplifts humanity, our pets, and the power of an immutable grace.  Add your own list in the comments. This season, let’s stay motivated by all that is good in humanity and share our gratitude!

Happy Thanksgiving!
It’s formed with 5 syllables
I’m grateful for that

On this special day
We give thanks for our blessings
Gratitude abounds

In case we forget
To say thanks and a prayer
Sweet smiles will suffice

Don’t count your seedlings
Plant them with care; tend with love
What we sow, will grow.

Do count your blessings
Add your friends and family
Share some with the poor…

Happy Thanksgiving!
Share some food, love, and goodwill
Now, what could top that?

Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough. Oprah Winfrey
In the end, only three things matter: how much you loved, how gently you lived, and how gracefully you let go of things not meant for you. Anon

How are YOU planning to celebrate Thanksgiving? Each year, we participate in volunteer opportunities that provide food and aid to the homeless. This can be a very trying time for folks who have no loved ones around, and it can also be a time of heightened depression for others who have lost dear ones. So, why not use this time to reach out to anyone we know who is hurting and spread some love and cheer. How else can we be of service during this joyful season? We can start by thinking of our troops, the sick, the destitute, our friends and family who are traveling or are away. We can start by reaching out to others who are alone during this time of celebration. We can volunteer our time to helping out where a need is greatest and spread some of our heartfelt message of love and goodwill.
Don’t Forget to say Thank You! For me, this Thanksgiving year has given me much to contemplate and I am grateful for the good and the harsh lessons too. I’d love to say Thank You to my readers, to all who stop by to comment or just read this blog, to friends and family online and off, to my fellow bloggers, various Sponsors, WordPress staffers and happiness engineers, my social media and Facebook groups friends, friends in various communities, and everyone out there. Sending Happy Thanksgiving wishes to everyone!

If you are really thankful, what do you do? You share. W. Clement Stone
When a house is on fire,
the vessel salvaged
is the one that will be of use,
not the one left there to burn.
So when the world is on fire
with aging and death,
one should salvage [one’s wealth] by giving:
what’s given is well salvaged. Buddha

Happy Thanksgiving! This holiday is pretty new to me considering I grew up in a country where we don’t have this holiday. However, I do my best each day to start with thanks and end with thanks. I’ve been making it a habit to find 3 things I am grateful for each day as well and I notice it helps keep me in a positive mindset 🙂

Thanksgiving to me is a time of giving thanks and appreciation for all the blessings that we have received during the year. Whether good or bad (yes I also see the not so good things as blessings) I give thanks for all these things. This is also a time to reflect on all the things that have happened and think of the lessons we have learned this past year. This is I think very important as this allows us to make the new year better.

It’s always good to reflect and be thankful. My best memories from thanksgiving come from childhood…back when the entire family was intact, we’d gather around for a glorious meal and then watch football and movies all day.

So I’m an American and this is my first Thanksgiving spent overseas. I live in Spain and teach English. I gave a presentation to my students about the holiday and they were all jealous of American kids who had no school today. And they thought the Macy’s Day parade looked fun. I suppose those are my memories … the parade and time spent with family. I also think of sweaters when I think of Thanksgiving.

Regardless of the origin of the event, I am grateful for everything I have. From having a family that loves me unconditionally, good health, and a knowledge to use in earning money, I couldn’t ask for more! there are so many things I am thankful for and those are just some of the ones I believe I should mainly be thankful of.

Your article is always fantastic. But this post was extra ordinary. I found a tones of similarities between the things you are thankful for and I am thankful for. My biggest thankfulness is my good health. My second big thankfulness is having the precious love of my parents. They mean a lot to me. Actually we humans are always having uncountable things to be thankful for but we notice only few of them. Your article is great since it shows such a great example of gratitude. I loved your post a lot.
