Weekly Photo Challenge: CHAOS – Seeking Order in Disorder

We live in a rainbow of chaos. Paul Cezanne
Chaos was the law of nature; Order was the dream of man. Henry Adams
Chaos magic is the idea that a particular set of beliefs serves as an active force in the world. In other words, we choose what and how we believe, and our beliefs are tools that we then use to make things happen… or not. Sophia Amoruso

When I looked at the theme for this week’s Photo Challenge – Chaos – I wondered how I would find the right set of photos to demonstrate that particular vision. Sure, all photos don’t have to fit in a neat, orderly box but, we tend to expect some symmetry and so chaos as a theme is fascinating. I like it. I found a shot that made me stop. It is one I took of a store on Canal Street in Manhattan and it fits the bill perfectly.  The wares from the store spilled out unto the side walk and there was stuff everywhere… It was a jumble of items and bright colors … quite chaotic in a good sort of way. I added a few other shots and I’d love to hear your  idea of chaos… What do you think?

Chaos is inherent in all compounded things. Strive on with diligence. Buddha
Art, in itself, is an attempt to bring order out of chaos. Stephen Sondheim
Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Melody Beattie

Every time I read the weekly Photo Challenge, an image forms in my head and, usually, it is an image of what the perfect shot would be if I had the time to go shoot it. Often, I don’t have the time to do so, so I choose a set of photos that come a bit close to my objective. This week, I imagined going to a huge garbage dump site or an old car parts dump site … to capture the perfect shot. I also imagined what we might see in the aftermath of a huge storm in nature. Those would be fit the challenge but, I think the shop above comes close. What comes to your mind visually?

Have a restful weekend!

This post was inspired by a prompt from WP Daily Post: – CHAOS This week, share your own take on chaos, whether it’s the mess in your living room, a busy street crossing, a party on the verge of getting a little out of hand, or any other subject that celebrates a lack of (visual) control.

Positive Motivation Tip:  Even in chaos, there is a sliver of order… explore it and be grateful.
