Haiku: A Fragile Ego

16/09/2016

“Ego says, ‘Once everything falls into place, I’ll feel peace.’ Spirit says, ‘Find your peace, and then everything will fall into place.'” Marianne Williamson.

Haiku: A Fragile Ego

A fragile ego
makes it so hard to see the
forest for the trees

Ego is a veil
where hearts hide their painful tales
Like mine … still healing

Portmanteau moments
False friends arrive and depart
like dying flowers

“‘Apologizing does not always mean you’re wrong and the other person is right. It just means you value your relationship more than your ego.” Mark Matthews

Haiku: A Fragile Ego

Like shattering glass
Our cat yowls on a bad day
He learned it from me…

Ego is a trap
where prideful minds get broken
Like yours … still growing

Haiku seems easy
But read more, and you will see…
I am not Bashō

Thank you Gilly. Glad to see you again. Hope you are doing well… I’m moving house and it’s a bit overwhelming. 🙂

The story is as old as humanity. Everything will be fine once _____ happens or _____ falls into place, but then it’s always something else.

Did you write this? It is so beautiful! I LOVE the lines where you say
    “False friends arrive and depart
    like dying flowers”

Ego and pride. I had pride issues (didn’t want to take help from anyone) and didn’t even know it. Life has a way of pointing those things out though. 🙂
