Haiku: Designed For You

24/08/2016

“Flowers always make people better, happier, and more helpful; they are sunshine, food and medicine for the soul.” Luther Burbank

Haiku: Designed For You – Floral blooms

Blooming joyfully
In summer, lush, colorful
Miniatures too

Each a masterpiece
Designed for you, me, and … YOU
A dreamer’s delight

On dark, lonely days
Your kaleidoscopic range
Shifts my forlorn gaze…

I never tire of enjoying nature’s impressive range of flowers. They come in different shapes, sizes and colors, and I believe they call us and we are drawn to certain flowers as if each bloom is designed just for us. My mother was an avid gardener in her youthful days; I still hold dear memories of helping out in her garden, spade and bucket at hand, eager to learn more about the varieties she planted and nursed to full bloom. I loved her Bachelor’s Buttons and Daisies because I loved the way their names slid off my tongue.  Her roses with their sharp thorns fascinated me … as did her ornamental plants.  So, who wouldn’t think their favorite bloom was designed just for them?

With passing seasons
You titillate and inspire
Nature’s varied blooms

A walk through gardens
Beckoning and exacting
All designed for who?

Floral gifts, wishes
Linger … summer bids adieu
A memory … YOU

As I contemplated the two prompts today, I kept being pulled back to flowers and the joy they add to our lives. I love that there are flowers for all seasons; it’s as if nature herself is determined to add cheer and color to our lives. Perhaps, she does so to remind us to be grateful for the smallest things and also for everything that prompts us to smile and remember happy times. No matter what transpires in our lives, we can always go back to that place inside that is filled with bright, cheerful, colorful blooms. Enjoy them because they are designed for you.

This post was inspired by two Daily Word Prompts:  MINIATURE and  DESIGNED FOR YOU Have you ever loved something so much, or experienced something so perfect, that you’ve felt it was designed just for you? For this challenge, tell us about a thing or experience that you feel is designed for you, or describe your ideal version of it. You can respond in any format. For example, sketch a comic or write flash fiction that recounts a time you’ve used a well-designed product; pen an open “thank you” letter to a company that understands your needs; or write a haiku expressing the beauty of a seamless experience. We look forward to your many interpretations of this challenge!

I took some not all the photos. But the collage I created myself… I love collages as they help you get even more creative. Some of the photos are from Pixabay as per my credits at the end of my post. <3

Thank you for this motivational post! Those flowers make me swoon. What makes me happiest the most is cooking and photography… they are somehow the same. I love working with my hands. This is the best kind of happiness. Like cultivating those flowers 🙂

That is lovely. I found a daisy today in the parking lot of my supermarket. I picked it up and put it in a small water bottle… Cheerful yellow!

Seeing the picture with the sunflowers, reminds me of this quote : “Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see the shadows. It’s what the sunflowers do.” Have a great day Eliz !!
