Life clearly does more than adapt to the Earth. It changes the Earth to its own purposes. Evolution is a tightly coupled dance, with life and the material environment as partners. From the dance emerges the entity Gaia. James Lovelock
Partners come in all shapes and forms. We see them everywhere and they are not always of the human kind. I love visiting my local zoo because we can learn a lot about how life forms interact by watching how the animals build their own version of a hierarchy, collaborate, and manage their controlled and contained space. Frankly, I think humans could learn a lot from those interactions. Given the dastardly decision that GB made to leave the European Union, we could all stand to learn more about the value and power of partnerships. Partnerships keep us going/growing, partnerships keep us alive and connected, and when we are lacking in certain strengths, partnerships help us stay relevant. Why did they leave? I’m very disappointed by Brexit! For this exercise on Partners, I turned to my local Bronx Zoo and the many forms of life that co-habit in that space. I also turned to a man with his loyal partner — a dog. What more can we ask for, right?

Even if perfect partnerships don’t exist, I think we all thrive when we are in partnerships that support and nudge us to be better. Whenever we see couples on TV celebrating their 1,000th year together, the inevitable question always pops out of the reporter’s mouth: How did you stay together for so long? And like clockwork, the invariable answer comes forth: We stayed out of each others way… Hahaha! Jokes aside, they often add another thought: We respected each others point of view, worked together to uplift each other, and compromised on issues that really mattered. We need more compromising in our partnerships.
This post was inspired by a prompt from WP Daily Post: PARTNERS – This week, share an image of partners. A pair, a trio, a sextet; people, buildings, plants — whatever you choose to shoot, give us subjects that are in tune with one another.

Nothing is perfect but we make them work. Partnerships in animals are great because these show that they have a sense of belongingness and they know what’s it’s like to be family.

I have so much to say! firstly, I enjoy your posts and the above is no different. I do feel that love is the one of the most uniting forces (in addition to kindness, empathy etc) – that it makes the world go round and begets friendship and partnership. Couldn’t agree more with the quotes, particularly Hassanal Bolkiah’s. LOVE LOVE love the animal pictures and what animals teach us about loyalty etc.

Beautiful shots and I really think you captured what was in the challenge. I like how you said that partners come in all forms, because it’s true. We can learn a thing or two from these animals especially these days, aside from the Brexit, there are also shootouts and so much hate!
I am very saddened by the decision the British people did last friday. And more upset that they had no idea what they were voting for. I still have hope and wish for another chance and not a divorce, same as those cute animals from Bronx Zoo

Picking your battles is very good, and communication is key. Also being able to talk not yell through differences is a major help as well.
I have a loving human partner and we have been together for over 40 years. It is a very supportive partnership and I know it makes me a better person. I also love my “partnerships” with my fur friends that share our space. They are the best.
