What comes to mind when you look at these faces? When I saw today’s photo assignment – FACE – I wanted to share all the many fascinating forms and faces I’ve captured on my camera; sans the selfie kind. I love sculpture and dolls as I think the artists often have a familiar image/person in mind as they create their work. While they might never share who the muse was/is, we can assume it’s someone near and dear or a particular face they found fascinating. The center face in the first shot is from a miniature piece of an elder man, a wise old man, contemplating life’s questions. He is dressed in a Maasai garb and is seated on a small stool. He has a serious countenance that draws one to him. I love that piece very much. Where do you aim your camera when the word ” Face” enters your mind?

What do you see in these faces? The second shot is a mixture of faces from a wider range of materials and sources. The dolls are obvious and perhaps the mannequin too. All are works of creative art, and each face tells a story that I might never fully know or be able to retell. What do you see and recognize in these shots? I’d be curious to know your point of view. I’ll come back later to share a bit more about some of those faces… Have a restful weekend!

I enjoyed looking at all of your images 🙂 I agree that faces can tell so much about a person and that sometimes you can genuinely see the memories and experiences etched into the faces themselves! The Shakespeare quote is interesting to me too. I lived for so long in South Korea and out there, your God given face is often considered something imperfect and in need of change. Boyfriends buy partners plastic surgery coupons for anniversaries out there and it was always something that shocked me. When I was young I had trouble looking at my own reflection, but as the years have gone on, I feel a whole lot more comfortable looking at myself face to face hehe
I enjoyed your feedback and would encourage you to write about your time abroad, and the cultural differences you experienced.

As much as I love the art of the selfie (and really, I do!) I love that you thought about other faces and art when prompted with the word “face” for this assignment. What a clever way to interpret what likely produced a lot of selfie-related posts.

I definitely agree with this article. Facial expression tells many stories as well as the current situation of the person. We must be proud whatever God has given to us.
These are all great for FACE. I would have taken it another direction and chose a face of a clock, or landscape (cliff face, etc).
