“Life is like a landscape. You live in the midst of it but can describe it only from the vantage point of distance.” Charles Lindbergh

The two impulses in travel are to get away from home, and the other is to pursue something – a landscape, people, an exotic place. Certainly finding a place that you like or discovering something unusual is a very sustaining thing in travel. Paul Theroux
More varied than any landscape was the landscape in the sky, with islands of gold and silver, peninsulas of apricot and rose against a background of many shades of turquoise and azure. Cecil Beaton

It’s been a long and demanding week, and the landscape I call my brain … is tired. As I chose my photos for this week’s challenge, I kept trying to come up with some witty insight about landscapes and nothing spewed forth. Maybe I should be showing photos of a desert landscape. Hahaha … TGIF! I’m looking forward to getting some stuff done and catching up on reading two books on my desk. The photos above were taken in two locations;  Munich/Bavaria, Germany and Upstate New York, USA. I’ll update you on the rest later.

“It is only in appearance that time is a river. It is rather a vast landscape and it is the eye of the beholder that moves.” Thornton Wilder

The human soul is hungry for beauty; we seek it everywhere – in landscape, music, art, clothes, furniture, gardening, companionship, love, religion, and in ourselves. No one would desire not to be beautiful. When we experience the beautiful, there is a sense of homecoming. John O’Donohue
There is an eternal landscape, a geography of the soul; we search for its outlines all our lives. Josephine Hart

I love taking landscape shots; especially when I go on hiking trips. I haven’t been on a hike in a while so I do miss capturing new landscape shots and sharing them with you.  The collection in this post are forom trips I took and my photo files. Each shot carries special memories and I miss the fresh air and open, expansive spaces… This assignment has given me the incentive to start preparing for a hiking trip to reconnect with that vast expanse of terrain that takes our breath away. The photos above were taken in France, Germany and USA. I’ll fill in the details once I catch my breath. Have a wonderful and restful weekend! 🙂

This post was inspired by a prompt from WP Daily Post: Landscape  This week, it’s all about landscape photography. Show us your best establishing shot, out in nature or in an urban setting.
