When I saw the theme for this week’s challenge, “One Love,” the first thing that popped into my head was Bob Marley’s song of the same title. You can check out Bob Marley’s Official Youtube Channel for more soul stirring music. We live in a world where there is constant conflict over all sorts of issues so, it’s a great reminder that if we could even try a little to practice – one love = unity in vision – for our humanity, everything else will grow. I saw this garland of roses as I was walking back with my dearest friend, Diahann, from a visit to see the Jacqueline De Ribes: The Art Of Style exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum in Manhattan. It was the remnants of a Valentine’s Day celebration and I would like to believe that the recipient hung it on the gate as a way of sharing it with everyone passing by. It put a smile on my face and I stopped and took a picture of it…. one love!

It’s about time… Anyway, I dug around my photos after I posted my first picture and discovered a few more that you’d like. In the collage above is a shot of a family of deer foraging in our backyard, a photo of our family cat lying across a laptop on a hot day, and a display of tie-dyed fabric and a picture of Bob Marley outside a store in Woodstock, NY. I’d almost forgotten about that Bob Marley shot! It would have been the best one for the post but … sometimes we digress, just like we do in life when we take another direction … Na Shakara! It’s all good. One LOVE!

How Do You Practice One Love: Look, we don’t live in a perfect world but, we can try and remember to treat others fairly. Do we get mad sometimes and read folks the riot act? Sure. We all have our off days and once the dust settles, we should forgive the infractions and move on. We don’t have to fraternize with everyone but, we can respect everyone’s right to be themselves and make choices that uplift them and others. Sadly I don’t think the world will ever be at peace because of all the conflict that arises on a daily basis but that doesn’t mean we as people can’t TRY to achieve that ultimate goal. Even if it’s a futile attempt and we know it’s never going to happen, we still need to go forth and love, be kind, and treat each other with respect because that’s what humanity needs; as long as people are still doing that, there’s always hope 🙂
We sure need to keep up the effort in every way we can … if each one reaches out to another, we can cover a huge landscape of love and consideration, with time out to still vent. 🙂

My ex-husband is a reggae musician and that is one of my favorite Marley songs. All of his songs are great, though with a deep message about acceptance.

Actually, the first song that popped into my head was One Love by Blue. sorry, I wasn’t quite familiar with bob Marley’s song. But then again, at least now I know how legendary Bob marley truly was. I believe this one was used by a lot of people to promote unity and equality.
