“With an eye made quiet by the power of harmony, and the deep power of joy, we see into the life of things.” William Wordsworth

Harmony makes small things grow, lack of it makes great things decay. Sallust
No person, no place, and no thing has any power over us, for ‘we’ are the only thinkers in our mind. When we create peace and harmony and balance in our minds, we will find it in our lives. Louise L. Hay
It is the harmony of the diverse parts, their symmetry, their happy balance; in a word it is all that introduces order, all that gives unity, that permits us to see clearly and to comprehend at once both the ensemble and the details. Henri Poincare

Where do you see balance in your world? For this week’s photo challenge on harmony, I looked again to nature, sculptural art and the many forms of life that share space with us in my area. The spotted deer/chital, the pigeon on the terrace, and the ducks in the Hudson River add a wonderful balance to the yellow summer flower, the ice-covered tree branches lit up by street lights, and the beautiful landscapes captured in the photos. I go back to these forms again and again because they are calming, bring feelings of gratitude to the heart, and remind us that there is a natural intelligence in the world; that intelligence creates balance around us and invites us to enjoy it.

“And harmony means that the relationship between all the elements used in a composition is balanced, is good.” Karlheinz Stockhausen

The way of the Creative works through change and transformation, so that each thing receives its true nature and destiny and comes into permanent accord with the Great Harmony: this is what furthers and what perseveres. Alexander Pope
Beauty is not something you can count on. Usually, when people say you are beautiful, it is when there is a harmony between the inside and the outside. Emmanuelle Beart
Logically, harmony must come from the heart… Harmony very much based on trust. As soon as use force, creates fear. Fear and trust cannot go together. Dalai Lama

Why Harmony? Harmony is such a soothing and healing word. If we would use it more in our lives, we could possibly help heal all the fighting and chaos going on globally. A harmonious planet is a planet at peace with itself… But, the work has to start with each of us and the choices we make to live peacefully with all of our neighbors. We can make a pledge to not pollute our planet with our negative thoughts and actions and, in doing so, we will begin to see the good unfold on earth.

Art is a harmony parallel with nature. Paul Cezanne
Because a human being is endowed with empathy, he violates the natural order if he does not reach out to those who need care. Responding to this empathy, one is in harmony with the order of things, with dharma; otherwise, one is not.Dayananda Saraswati
Each and every master, regardless of the era or the place, heard the call and attained harmony with heaven and earth. There are many paths leading to the top of Mount Fuji, but there is only one summit – love. Morihei Ueshiba

How do you create harmony around you? How do you contribute to the harmony in the world? It gets tired hearing folks talk about what others should do to broker peace in the world. The work must start with all of us, as we are all capable of being agents of peace. We must be the change we want to see in the world by changing ourselves, by respecting all forms of life, and by doing the utmost to stop pollution in our communities. Here’s to a harmonious week ahead!

This post was inspired by a prompt from WP Daily Post:  Harmony“The combination of simultaneously sounded musical notes to produce chords having a pleasing effect; the quality of forming a pleasing and consistent whole.” Of course, harmony also has a meaning outside of the world of music: “the quality of forming a pleasing and consistent whole.” I look forward to seeing harmony — a photo that is, or makes you feel harmonious — through your eyes.

Positive Motivation Tip:  When all around us is in harmony, we feel grounded, balanced and connected.

I definitely agree, the work must start with us because we can’t expect other to do a thing if we aren’t doing it.

“We must be the change we want to see in the world by changing ourselves, by respecting all forms of life” – what a powerful statement! I’m happy there are people like you who recognize this and influence others to do the same!
