This week’s photo challenge gave me food for thought... When I first read the theme, all that came to my head was alphabet soup and for a moment, I wished I had some at home. As I reflected on the assignment a bit more, I flashed back to a trip I took to the Rhinebeck region with one of my daughters. A close friend of hers was working at a summer camp for international students and we drove up to visit and have lunch. The camp grounds had poles with signs identifying the countries that the students came from, and each sign was a beautiful creative endeavor. I felt it would be perfect for this exercise.

As I thought about it some more, I remembered a whimsical, even funny sign I photographed in Denver it says:… All Together Now and I love it. I added a few more photos that had letters of the alphabet in them with creative approaches and the Punk exhibit at The Met Museum fit the bill perfectly. The sweatshirts with hysterical inscriptions on them were in a mall in Kyoto and they fit perfectly the dictum that sometimes a lot is lost in translation. The word spelled out in the maze is TOMORROW, and yes, that graffiti explosion and extravaganza is a Keith Haring original on a New York City wall. Enjoy and come back for the rest soon.

I ended up having such fun with this photo challenge because it made me think long and hard about what I capture and why it is imperative that we do a better job at organizing our creative expressions… I’m a work in progress and each challenge gives me an opportunity to create more specific folders… What have YOU captured lately that fits the Alphabet theme? Do share!

My fellow bloggers were equally creative with their selections. Check out how others interpreted the theme – ALPHABET– below.

This post was inspired by a prompt from WP Daily Post: ALPHABET –  This week,  let the alphabet be your inspiration: find a string of letters. Try a multi-photo gallery to collect images of single characters. Find some beautiful typography, or look for letters hidden in natural forms. I’m excited to see your ABCs!
