I love food and I love everything involved with food. I love the fun of it. I love restaurants. I love cooking, although I don’t cook very much. I love kitchens. Alma Guillermoprieto

When I first connected with the folks at Try The World, I was excited because I’ve always loved exploring foods, lifestyles, and cultures from around the world. My upbringing on three continents and my years of traveling for pleasure and work has blessed me with indelible memories and friends around the world. Travel expands our minds and exposes us to global cuisines and the subscription boxes are an easy way to sample gourmet items, the best of the best, from other countries. This year, I am delighted again to receive and review their Special Edition Holiday Gift Box. If you decide to join us this holiday season, your timing will be perfect. Every two months, in addition to this special edition, you will receive a sea-foam/sea-breeze green box of delectable foods, spices, treats, and more delivered to your doorstep. Shipping is free.

By now, dear readers, all of you know that each box comes with a culture guide that offers descriptions of each item, recipes to sample, and extra information to help you make the best use of your carefully selected items.  When my Holiday Box arrived, I quickly opened it and examined the contents. I was thrilled. My beautiful box was tied with a pretty red bow and the Holiday Box Culture Guide was inserted in a mini sleeve inside the box cover.  The holiday culture guide had a thoughtful holiday greeting, see holiday message above, with food tips, recipes, and descriptions to help us understand each item included in the box.  I am always impressed by the effort that goes into creating each guide as they offer a panoply of great insights into each delicious box and its contents.

My holiday box contained: Biokia Mixed Berries from Finland, Chocolate Truffles from Truffette de France in Canada, a sampling of Ruby-Red Restorative Teas from Teotonics in the UK, Orange Flavor Ginger Snaps from Sweden, Extra Virgin Olive Oil made by Sindyanna; cooperative of Arab and Jewish women in Northern Israel, Panettone by G. Cove & C in Italy, Acai Dessert Sauce by Bazzar in Brazil, and a special batch of holiday cookies by Orientines in Morocco. With this box of eight gourmet items, we have spanned the globe, landed in eight countries, and picked up delicious items chosen for your celebrations. Each item comes in a full-size serving, ready to eat or add to your holiday preparation plans. I plan to add a few for each upcoming holiday celebration in my household, and I invite you to do the same.

Eating is so intimate. It’s very sensual. When you invite someone to sit at your table and you want to cook for them, you’re inviting a person into your life. Maya Angelou

As I savor my goodies, I thought it would help to share a bit more about the company and its offerings. Company owners, Kat Vorotova and David Foult met as students at Columbia University and found they shared a love for travel and discovering new cultures. They combined forces and Try The World was born. Today, they collaborate with chefs, food artisans, experienced foodies, and world travelers to bring you the best foods from countries far and near. They ship their beautiful sea-form green boxes filled with carefully curated authentic gourmet food, selected from a different country every 2 months, to homes throughout the United States. They plan to offer more destinations in the near future.

As I mentioned before, the food experts at Try The World love hearing from people who love to try cuisine from other parts of the world. To encourage us to explore other cultures through food, from time to time, they offer wonderful opportunities to win free boxes of food and/or get additional discounts. This Holiday Season you can take 20% off your shopping cart when you add the promo code: holiday20 at checkout. So why not get your first box at 30% off,  buy a few more items at a 20% off discount, and share your dishes and photos by using the hashtag #TryTheWorld and following @TryTheWorld on Instagram? Add to that the chance to win your next box for free!  You can visit their Website for more information and also connect with them on Facebook, Google+, Twitter, Pinterest, Tumblr, and LinkedIn.

Celebrations are not ways for us to escape life, but a way for life not to escape us. Tough times may push us down, but if we have family with us, then it’s something to celebrate. And celebrations are greatly influenced by the people who worked in the kitchen! haha specially with our culture, FOOD is really a must in most gathering.
