GRANDFATHERED: Superb Comedy Show Coming Your Way!

“I’m a grandfather? I’m a grandfather? I mean, sure, I’ve always wanted to have a family but…” Jimmy Martino (John Stamos)

YouTube Trailer: GRANDFATHERED
Disclosure statement: This post is sponsored by FOX and SheKnows.
What do you do when your easy peachy lifestyle takes an unexpected turn? GRANDFATHERED is aptly described as an unconventional, sophisticated comedy about coming of age – at any age. Jimmy Martino (John Stamos) is a handsome, self-absorbed, successful restaurateur and an avowed bachelor living the life many of us could only wish for.  He has celebrity guests at the restaurant, a hot car, a hotter assistant and, I suspect, he can have any hot chick he wants to date.  All that comes to a screeching halt when karma comes knocking on his door. Mr Sexy, hotter-than-hot Stamos (“Full House,” “ER”) watches his well-manicured life come crashing down when Gerald (Josh Peck) shows up with a baby in tow.  Say WHAT?!? Before you pass out, back up and hear this hilarious story unfold: Jimmy had a short-term relationship, eons ago, with Sara (Paget Brewster), a rocker chick. The relationship ended, and Sara never told Jimmy she was pregnant with his son, Gerald! The series premiere of GRANDFATHERED starts Tuesday 8/7c on FOX and you won’t want to miss it!

How do you handle being told that the single lifestyle is over because of your unexpected Fatherhood? Roll tape to 2015, check out the reaction, when Gerald (Josh Peck, “The Mindy Project”) comes knocking on Jimmy’s door with his baby daughter, Edie. So, not only is Jimmy faced with the shocking news that he has an adult son with former girlfriend, rocker-chick-turned-mother Sara (Paget Brewster, “Criminal Minds,” “Community”) but,  he finds out that he is a grandfather too. Yep, read my lips … GRANDFATHER to cute little Miss Edie!  Jimmy is not taking this all too well but he is willing to give it a go … on his terms.

How will Jimmy handle this turn of affairs? The episode I watched shows Jimmy grappling with this new experience of suddenly being a father and grandfather, and he is losing it in one hysterical moment after another. As the episode unfolds, we meet other concerned folks who are keeping tabs on Jimmy and his new situation: Jimmy’s restaurant family is concerned, especially assistant manager, Annelise (Kelly Jenrette, “Audrey”), and chef Ravi (Ravi Patel, “Super Fun Night”). Gerald’s mother, Jimmy’s former girlfriend Sara, is not amused. Gerald’s Baby Mama, Vanessa (Christina Milian, FAMILY GUY, “Baggage Claim”), is all in their business making demands of Gerald and dissing Jimmy. She leaves little Edie with Gerald and Jimmy as she gallivants around town doing her own thing.
So, how will Jimmy handle this turn of affairs? Will this rekindle an old flame with a woman more his age, even though, he dates women half his age? Will Jimmy be able to tend to a demanding toddler whose needs are greater than his own? Stay tuned and watch this laugh-a-minute show when it premieres Tuesday. The cast of characters is well developed, the humor is tight, and the show should give you food for thought and a lot of laughter this fall. Don’t miss the series premiere of GRANDFATHERED starting Tuesday 8/7c on FOX!

During BlogHer 2015 in New York City, a group of bloggers were invited to attend a meet and greet with Josh Peck, and to watch a short preview of the upcoming show. The video was our introduction to the cast and the show, and it was hysterical. I have fond memories of the scene showing Edie running through the restaurant, with John right behind her, eager to snatch her up and whisk her back to her hideout in the kitchen. The reactions from some of the restaurant guests were priceless. After the preview, we sat back and enjoyed a Q & A with Josh Peck. He soon had us laughing out loud too. He shared stories about his journey to stardom and the challenges along the way. His answers were sincere and funny. To wrap up the event, Josh agreed to pose with any blogger who wanted a photo opportunity and he was very patient about it. I loved the event, meeting Josh Peck, and the Q &A. I look forward to the show’s premiere next Tuesday.

Sitcoms have become a dying art. I hope this one lives up to the history of sitcoms and that it is given a fair chance rather than snatched by the network.

    • 25/09/2015 11:02 pm

Good point Katrina. The networks cancel shows a lot, and it’s hard to keep track of what’s new and what’s gone. This one should do well.
