Haiku: Night and Day – the mirage of quick connections
A flight of fancy
Rose tinted glasses glued on
smouldering mirage
Eyes met … across aisles
A plane ride to Jakarta
tall, dark, smoking hot
Glances … back and forth
my coy smile, his wink and wave
Hellos, Names … exchanged
Perhaps you met your beloved on a long flight to heaven knows where or you always imagined what it would be like to connect, just through the eyes, with another soul. Fantasy is healthy for our creative spirit and what we fantasize is often someone’s reality. Enjoy the short moment of this exchange and tell me: Have you had such an experience?

Dinner date arranged
Café at Hotel Mulia
Food, drinks, chat … not more
Touch down and take off
Good food, great conversation
Breakfast date arranged
Good nights, a hug, buss
mirage of quick connections
sweet dreams beckon me
Traveling to other climes can bring us into close encounters with others we might not meet otherwise… When those moments arise, we can explore them or tuck them away and refocus on what holds our attention in the here and now. But, but, but … life is also about those momentary mirages that fill our heads and hearts with bliss; albeit for a short while. Over the years, I’ve met many people on my travels. Mr-tall-dark-smoking-hot-and-smoldering isn’t one of them. We can wait for our prince to show up on his proverbial horse or invent him with our imagination; inventing is a much safer prospect, in my opinion. What about you!? Who have you met on your travels?

I chose to explore the topic of night and day somewhat differently. Relationships are often fraught with such swift changes … love today and hate tomorrow… No, not all relationships but, enough of them for it to be seen as a common occurrence. If you’ve ever had a moment of fantasy about someone you just met, you’d relate to this post. Fantasy feeds our creativity… let it flourish and see where it leads you.

I really like how you applied the idea of Night and Day to our daily relationships. Some days I really do feel like it is exactly that! lol I am guilty of expecting similair outcomes to similair events and sometimes I am completely surprised. There is always an element of surprise involved when it comes to humans? 🙂
I am sure I have had great experiences the first time and not so great ones the second, but of course I am drawing a blank 🙂
All the time! It usually has to do with unique foods. The first time I tried snail I loved it and when I had it again, I couldn’t stand it. It was disgusting. I think it’s because of the thrill the first time and after that, it just didn’t appeal to me anymore.

I think it’s definitely good to let the imagination run wild.I think that’s what happens with lots of crushes in the first place. You fall in love with your own idea of the person more the actual person.

I think when fantasies come true they can never live up to one’s imagination or expectation – to live the fantasy is to ruin the fantasy. Lovely images, reminds me of many books I read as a youngster.
Fantasy is why most, women at least love historical romances–or romances in general and men love thrillers. In their minds they become those characters if only for a moment in time.
Jakarta.. I’ve been to Jakarta. It’s a busy city, very hot and humid. Traffic is bad too

Nice. I’m relating to this. I met someone while I was travelling and to be honest, Like an alcohol, as I went back home, I got thoughts of hangover about that encounter. Loving that day… hating that tomorrow.

So many times. If we have a great experience the first time, our expectations even go higher the second time around. But when we don’t experience the same thing next time around, it’s all disappointment. Absolutely beautiful thoughts on the prompt.

This is something I can very much relate to. Meeting someone… hellos exchanged. Brief seconds of opportunity. Forming friendship, through the years… and then just like day and night and just like how fast our “connection” started… it ends. Then a new cycle begins.
Such is life!

Fantasies don’t last. Night is usually when the fantasies start and the day brings forth reality which ends those thoughts that began. Sometimes the night brings on courage to take huge leaps, and when the day arrives, it’s when we have to face the consequence of the choices we made the last evening. Night and day makes me think of my rebellious years, when I made decisions at night in the spur of the moment, a lot of regrets to face the next day haha!

I too believe that fantasy helps us enjoy life better. Loved Einstein’s quote (“The gift of fantasy has meant more to me than my talent for absorbing positive knowledge.”) And yes, a world without fantasy would be a sadder world.

Beautiful haiku. Something wonderful the first time and was terrible the next? Some aspects of motherhood for me were like that. But we find beauty in challenges.
I actually interpreted your night and day haikus like Summer Flings that don’t last. Like say some relationships made during quick travels are just that, fleeting.
