Weekly Photo Challenge: GRID – Individual Shots
I think New York is a good place to write in general because it’s a grid. It’s organized. You know where you are on the map. That centers you, and your imagination is perhaps freer to roam. Alex Turner
For this exercise, I found some grid filled photos I took around NYC, in Washington DC and Virginia. The NYC shots are of Columbia University’s Library uptown Manhattan, and of the Gerhy designed building in midtown on the Westside Highway. The Washington DC outside and inside shots are of their magnificent train station, and I was so taken by the grids and curves that I took a lot more. As for the double windows taken at night, I can’t tell you the name of the station. I took it from a slow-moving train on my way to a conference. I will add the full images via MESH shortly so you can see what they look like in larger size.

I’d love to say that this was more fun because I actually enjoy taking grid shots… Yeah, some of us are hung up on those thirds that we look at everything through a grid… haha!

I get so much inspiration from my travels, but I also started an exercise where I write down so many words every week. Then I begin crossing them off. We create a grid of words and also images, but words for me are more ample because you can interpret them your own way. Francisco Costa
Don’t be alarmed that I offered the same shot 3 times, I’m doing it strictly for the way it gets shared on my social media accounts and I do like uniformity. I finally figured out that if I publish my post with the picture I want distributed first, I can add more pictures afterwards. So stay tuned for the rest. Thank you! You chose some absolutely beautiful architecture to feature here. I think it is kind of funny because I have heard many Chicagoans complain about navigating NY because of its lack of a grid. Maybe it’s just something that insiders know, huh?

The structural designs moved my heart when I remember those tragic night at the top of the building. Well, it’s just a nightmare for me but now I realized the beauty behind the symmetry of geometrical designs that built within the framework of love.

Sometimes I too look after a grid – usually the painted windows in churches make me think of a grid or large buildings with impressive fences, similar to those illustrated by you in your post. A grid indeed suggest order, method, and in various occasions we need to be more organized 🙂

I have learned to do a “lights on, lights off” thing whenever I switch responsibilities. Although they can never be totally separated from each other, I try to give my all in the current state I am in.

I love grids, the symmetry in them most of all. We don’t have a lot of those in the area where we live, mostly solar power grids but other than that nothing else haha. Guess I wouldn’t be able to deliver if I joined this specific photo challenge due to my location. 🙂

I like your Grid Photo that the light shine through the windows at night. It shows the contrast of the Grid. Those ceiling ones are nice too.
This made me curious how it feels to write in New York! And I’ve always wanted to visit NY one day. I hope in my lifetime it would come to reality. I believe. And I am strongly believing it will. 😀 I wanna see those structures one day, with my own eyes, for real.
