Nick spent his early years struggling to make meaning of his life; he was bullied and picked on, felt limited by his disability and, at one point, at age 10, even considered suicide. However, through perseverance, faith in God, the loving support of his family and a series of fortuitous events, Nick turned his life around once he realized that pushing past insecurities about his physical limitations would give him the impetus to create a purposeful life: “At first I was not willing to confront that what was really wrong with me wasn’t my body, it was the limits I put on myself and my limited vision of the possibilities for my life.” |Nick V.
Four years ago, I wrote a review on a book that was as moving as it was inspiring. It was Nick Vujicic’s first book, Life Without Limits: Inspiration for a Ridiculously Good Life. I read it in one sitting and afterwards, I put the book down was stunned into silence. It is not so often that we come across people who truly live life joyfully under the most trying conditions. Nick is a faith-filled motivational speaker extraordinaire and he uses his message and life to help people push beyond their limitations; real and imagined. He has always spoken to my heart and whenever I start to whine about this or that physical or health challenge, I find a piece or a quote or a video from Nick that gently and compassionately reminds me to remember the miracle of life and to keep affirming the positive. A lot has happened since that book review and so I wanted to revisit the life and work of this amazing human being and update you on the happiness and love he continues to spread around the world.

It Doesn’t Take a Perfect Person to Find a Perfect Love
Even though he was born without arms or legs, Nick Vujicic created a “ridiculously good life.” But after dating disappointments and a failed relationship, he reached his mid-twenties worried that he would never find a woman to love him and share his life.
Then Nick met Kanae and everything changed. But even with undeniable chemistry, they would have to navigate twists and turns worthy of a romantic comedy before becoming “one” in marriage: “Despite my optimism about other parts of life, I decided that love in this world had limits after all. I’d become convinced that no woman would want to marry such an obviously imperfect man as me….” |Nick V.
If you read my Weekly Photo Challenge post on Inspiration, you’d have seen the link I shared to Nick’s Facebook page. If you’re like me, you probably believe that there are no accidents just serendipity; life is filled with miracles and tough/easy lessons. Last Friday morning, a Facebook friend shared the link and it brought a flood of memories and tears of joy. I had no idea that our topic for the day would be inspiration so you can imagine what a lovely moment that was. I shared the link and revisited my post. His message of love and hope hadn’t changed one bit. His desire to meet and marry the love of his life and have children had come to fruition. He has written several other books, check out the books on his website , including the best seller Love Without Limits:A Remarkable Story of True Love Conquering All. I was/remain ecstatic for Nick and his beautiful wife , Kanae (nee Miyahara), son Kiyoshi and the expected arrival of their second child, Dejan. We are all broken in some fashion, and we can hold unto the miracle of life, find inspiration in the moments, the exchanges, and the love we receive from others. We can hold unto the inspirational message from folks like Nick and many, many other inspiring people around us.

Nick’s talks have changed the lives of so many people who have been inspired by him, and has brought me to tears many a time, especially when he has been talking to students and I see the reaction they have when he speaks. He touches the hearts of everyone he meets; he is very positive and so humble, a wonderful man.
He truly is a terrific soul who is a great example of living the best life with what you have…

This guy is definitely an inspiration. People often ask me how I am able to stay positive in my situation as a single mother with 3 special needs kids, and just like Nick – it is a choice.
I’ve seen that video before and I find him so incredibly inspiring! It makes me view the things I have in my life and what I take for granted so differently. We just have to do everything we can in our life to do our best whatever it may be!!

I have watched him in interviews and read a lot about him. Nick is indeed an inspiration to a lot of people. I sometimes feel guilty when I start to complain about a lot of things and here is a man who was able to overcome his disability and make living worthwhile. His book would be a good read. I am going to get a copy for myself.

I am really a big fan of Nick Vujicic! He is a good example to everyone of us. He is living his life happily and doesn’t let negative thoughts ruin his outlook in life. This can actually be seen on how he handles his family. He reminds us that life is beautiful. We must focus on every blessings we receive and do not dwell on negative aspects of life.

I have been following Nick for a while. He has been a huge inspiration to me. We can all let our circumstances get us down if that is all we focus on. When we focus on what we do have and what we will have we are inspired and we have hope. He is a great man!!

I actually just saw photos of Nick and his family on the beach. They look so beautiful together, the pregnant glowing wife, the cute energetic child, and Nick looking at them with all the love in the world. I’m really happy he has found his forever.

Nick visited the Philippines a couple of years back and I wasn’t able to attend any of the services he was a guest speaker to due to being heavily pregnant at the time. His story definitely shows how God can take a weak nobody and make him into a somebody who can touch other people’s lives down to the core. I don’t think I have a copy of Nick’s book, will get one soon!

One of the icons of motivation is this man! I first saw his video back when I was in college and since then I’ve always had (most of the time), a positive outlook in life. This man is a manifestation that life is a choice! That you will always have a choice to be happy. 😀

I used to think he is an inspiration and motivation too. Until I read the scandal about him having an affair. Not sure how true that was, but being unfaithful doesn’t seem to be what a role model like him should do!
