This morning, after taking an early walk on the aqueduct, I checked out the Farmer’s Market stalls that were set up on the grounds of our Main Street school. There were a great group of local farmers selling foods grown organically and locally. There were also some terrific additions to the mix; Lisa of Luxxchocolat; a chocolatier, Preston of Teagevity; a tea specialist, Pamela of TrueFood Kitchen; an organic food restaurateur, A rep from WaveHill Breads; an artisan micro-bakery, and many more specialty food folks. Walking through the displays of excellent food items got me thinking about how preparing and enjoying great food can be one of the best ways to celebrate a special occasion. We can purchase just the right amount/assortment of foods we love and prepare a memorable meal. We don’t always have to go to a 5 Star restaurant to do so. We can start by supporting our local food suppliers and make Father’s Day and other special days a true family affair.

I love desserts and we can’t have a full course, celebratory meal without terrific desserts. My dad is geographically not with us but I got some good ideas from this for Father’s Day. Any dad would love to receive something from their kids, no matter how simple it is.
