#Happiness: 100 Reasons For #Gratitude

“Happiness cannot be traveled to, owned, earned, worn or consumed. Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace, and gratitude.” Denis Waitley

our friendships

shelter, shelter, shelter

laughter
gratitude in all things

Every day, we get up and start our day with our hearts full of expectations, goals and desires we hope to accomplish. As we go about our day, it’s important to remember the small victories that help us on the path to our bigger dreams. Ever as I face my daily challenges, I always look for reasons to be grateful. In the midst of struggle are glimpses of great good. Cherish them. Express gratitude for them. I’ve pulled together 100 reasons to be grateful. Add some of yours to my comments and let’s keep our hearts and minds cheerful.

“I am determined to be cheerful and happy in whatever situation I may find myself. For I have learned that the greater part of our misery or unhappiness is determined not by our circumstance but by our disposition.” Martha Washington

What’s the Secret to a Happy Life?  I like a response Deepak Chopra once gave. His answer was quite insightful. He said that to have a happy life means “to recognize that no matter what the situation, there’s a creative opportunity in it. Also, finding meaning and purpose in your life to make a contribution. And ultimately the secret is to make other people happy.” I liked the insertion of the creative impulse in his answer. If our reactions to life events are rigid and always planned then there is little freedom to give freely and joyfully.

“It is not how much we have, but how much we enjoy, that makes happiness.” Charles Spurgeon

our pets
a cup of tea
Contentment
kindness of strangers
birth
colorful blooms, blooms, blooms
a new friend
celebrations
clean air
thankful for all things

Where does sadness, anger and keeping it real fit into all of this? It does fit in because we can still experience all our emotions while still choosing to get back on track and get back to that place of gratitude inside. Just because you had an unpleasant exchange with another person doesn’t mean the world must stop so you can get off. Relax. deal with the problem by communicating directly. Steer clear of gossip. Clear the air and move on.

“Be happy with what you have and are, be generous with both, and you won’t have to hunt for happiness.” William E. Gladstone

lost and found treasures
sharing our joy
reconnecting with old friends

compassion for all living things

Contentment for what is and what we already are can take us to greater heights. Endless wants and needs fuel the fire of greed and disappointment. Some people are incapable of sharing/giving freely. Let them be. Live your own life and give because you enjoy the smile it puts on others faces and how it makes you feel inside.

“Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.”Mahatma Gandhi

reconciliations

positive surprises from others ( @WordPress – TY for the new sized Twitter photos! <3 )
expressions of happiness, happy, happy
words of wisdom
Harmonious interactions
time for quiet reflection/prayer
appreciation for all living things

A week or so ago, I checked my Twitter stream and found out that the Happiness Engineers at WordPress now automatically upload bigger pictures with our tweets. It was a special moment and I was stoked to see it. So a Special Thanks! for that happy moment goes out to them. What’s a happy, surprise moment that you experienced recently?

“There is only one happiness in this life, to love and be loved.”George Sand

a loving act
a friendly call
mentors
self-care/spa treats
surprise gifts
words of wisdom
rainfall and rainbows
extraordinary service, serve, serve
any good news
consideration for all living things

When we act from a place of gratitude, we are able to share what we know and what we’ve learned: We share our insights and all that comes with it. Every waking day, we strive, connect, struggle to experience the good feelings that arise in our hearts when a positive exchange has taken place. We cherish that feeling of accomplishment whenever we’ve made a difference, contributed to the world, or helped another soul. These are sound reasons to be happy and to express gratitude on a daily basis.

“Be happy for this moment. This moment is your life.” Omar Khayyam

a kind word
a congratulatory note
events/people who remind us to be present
regular check ups
lessons learned
positive outcomes
let your inner child play, play, play
Kindness
time for meditation
time given for all things

When we give people the benefit of the doubt, we allow ourselves to not get caught up in angry presumptions. When we make the effort to communicate, we open the door to resolving tensions and creating positive outcomes. Gossip and speculation is easy and destructive. They serve little purpose and can inflame a simple misunderstanding. If you are unsure of a situation, communicate. Ask questions. Reach out with the best intentions at heart.  Instead of speculation, a direct question can clear up confusion very quickly.  Ask. Believe. Receive!

“True happiness is… to enjoy the present, without anxious dependence upon the future.” Lucius Annaeus Seneca

a treat
a sincere compliment
events/people that remind us to be present
regular check ins with loved ones
life experiences shared
positive attitude
let others inner child be free
Letting go of anger
time for rest
Forgiveness given for all things

We all love treats/gifts/goodies and we all love to be around positive energy. Practice what you’d love to see around you and keep working at it until it becomes second nature. Sometimes, when we are working to change a pattern of behavior, the universe presents us with tests to help us along. When that happens, acknowledge the lessons and keep returning to that place of joy and peace. With time, the anger will dissipate and forgiveness will arise. Take all the time you need… Patience is a virtue.

“Happiness… consists in giving, and in serving others.” Henry Drummond

Clean Air and unrestricted breath.

Grace in daily activities and exchanges
Vision to see, hear, act, help, invent
Rest in all its permutations
Healing Thoughts.
Gratitude in all we do

True joy comes from selfless service… volunteering and helping out without expectation of reciprocity is truly the most psychically rewarding experience. We live in a world of reciprocity and, while there is nothing wrong with that, we must also make time to do things that don’t require it. We join groups because of the camaraderie and the give-and-take that exists in it; I am grateful for those exchanges too and that is fine. However, we must remember to perform random acts of kindness for others within and outside of our community/groups… True happiness lives there.

“Happiness is not something ready-made. It comes from your own actions.” Dalai Lama

Every time we view our experiences as gifts and express gratitude for them, we receive more of them. Our actions and participation are important aspects of the work needed to create more of it. All we do in life, every action, thought, word, and belief we hold is part of an effort to connect with that joyful, happy place inside our being. Enjoy your gifts and express them every day.

Positive Motivation Tip:  Be happy for the breath you take and say thank you often!

indeed we do not need to look hard enough to know that we have so much to be thankful for. it is a must that we keep a thankful heart + have an attitude of gratitude. it will carry us through during the difficult times, and will inspire us to live in the here and now, and to look forward to the future with enthusiasm + hope in our hearts!

    love this post! ^_^

indeed, happiness comes in many forms, and many times, in the simplest things. but it can only be felt and enjoyed when we let go of bitterness, resentment and allow happiness to enter our lives.

“I believe that happiness in not a destination; it’s a mood and a condition. Its like being tired or hungry – it’s not permanent. It comes and goes and that’s okay. I feel like if people thought of it that way, they would find happiness more often.”

I would like to share that thought here too. This is the thought I’ve learned to live with. Isn’t it true? We consider happiness a goal as if it’s so hard to achieve when in fact, if only we can be thankful, contented, and see the goodness of every thing, we will always be happy.
