Weekly Photo Challenge: ENVELOPED WITH LOVE – Cat love
I’m lucky to have a great support system in my friends and some of my family. If you have those people that you trust, go ahead and fall back into them and let them be your hammock and cocoon and let them embrace you. JoJo
For this exercise, all I could think of, at least from a feasibility standpoint, was our family cat. Cats are such tactile beings that they love to curl under fluffy, comfy things and fall asleep. Our Tangy derives enormous pleasure from climbing under sheets, blankets, towels and even under the dining table-cloth to curl up and sleep, enveloped by the softness of fabric around him. If we leave piles of freshly laundered clothes near him, he’d jump right on top of them in a minute and roll around looking for a way to cocoon himself in the pile. Sometimes, it’s annoying but, on days when the sun is bright, the birds are chirping, and a gentle breeze lulls me into quiet contemplation, I’m grateful for his antics and smile at the chance to make him feel loved … unconditionally.

Skin is not only an envelope protecting the inner body, or a membrane that allows exchange between exterior and interior of the body. It also serves as a mingling point between the outer world and inner self, and between body and soul. Miru Kim
As M. Kim suggests above, our skin connects us to sensations within and without our body. Our human envelope provides a doorway to powerful exchanges on levels far beyond physical contact. By the same token, I believe that safe sense of being cocooned must have a connection to a primal moment in our cat’s life. I suspect it brings back some distant memory of being enveloped by the warm, loving fur coat of his mother as his new-born heart pulsated against hers… I’d like to imagine that this is the original connection that makes him reach for such cuddly comfort.

On a sad note, on May 14, 2015, we lost a musical giant whose gift of song always felt very much like a cocoon. B.B. King transitioned to the great music hall above. The angels must be rock and rolling out in heaven. May he rest in peace. My condolences to his loved ones. <3

We had idyllic summer holidays, building sand castles with my father on the beach at Bridlington. It might sound strange, but I think that secure cocoon of familial love was so nourishing, it gave me the strength to live life on my own. Kiki Dee
The term envelope represents enclosed, cocooned, protected, and the simple gesture of sending and sharing important details. With the advent of the internet, we now see ourselves in a world of sound bites and text messaging. While all our new technology has benefits, we can’t help but long for the days when we waited, in anticipation, for that snail mail with its special announcement of some formidable win or achievement… Sure, we are enveloped or cocooned differently these days but don’t hesitate to step back and enjoy the simple gift of a cuddle, of being wrapped in a blanket in front of a fireplace, and then, cherish that special feeling of being enveloped or cocooned with/by love.

I wore my baby granddaughter Layla Nkeiru in a wrap recently, it took me right back to when I used to envelop her mummy and uncle in a sling!

I can attest that photography is not easy. All we know is to point and shoot but getting the right images, angles are difficult plus the lighting and all.

Beautiful cat! I used to take pictures of my cat while she slept. A sleeping cat is pure comfort and joy! Great way to drive home your point.
I am no cat lover but I do own 3 dogs. My mini pinAchilles simply, loves being cuddled just like your kittie. The good thing is he share our bed once in a while.

Enveloped with love makes me think of a mother’s love, It also makes me think of the feeling that I get on days when I don’t have to go to work & I wrap myself in my favorite blanket + movie marathon + some wine & cheese. Point is being enveloped with love is the most comforting thing in the worlds, it’s as if nothing can harm you. It’s your go-to happy place when things get blah. Beautiful post.

Our Tibet is our sloth kitty who lets us put her anywhere we want, even around our shoulders. We love all our pets. Great photos too!

I finally checked out dailypost and I may just participate in one of the posts. I would always relate ‘enveloped’ to a mother’s love and to home. The feeling that I get when I hear or think of ‘enveloped’ is being safe & secured, that nothing could harm me.

I have no idea BB King had said that about learning! I used to tell my colleagues, that the great thing about doing something, and doing it well, is that once you mastered how to do it, no one else can take it from you and you will always know how. BB King said it more succinctly though.
