Everywhere we look in the world, there are intricate patterns awaiting to capture our attention; from a spider’s web to the striations on a leaf, we are surround by intricacies that keep our world magical. Closer to us are the cells in our bodies and the complex machine that keeps our human engines revving… Each piece is inextricably intertwined with the other. It is these intricacies that keep us all in awe of the magnificent universe we have inherited. We must maintain it.

In honor of May Day, I’ve added a popular poem, and a link back to my original post about this precious day: May Day celebrates all who toil and labor so the rest of us can stand around, with big titles, looking good. Ha!

May Day by American poet Sara Teasdale (1884 – 1933)
A delicate fabric of bird song
Floats in the air,
The smell of wet wild earth
Is everywhere.

Red small leaves of the maple
Are clenched like a hand,
Like girls at their first communion
The pear trees stand.

Oh I must pass nothing by
Without loving it much,
The raindrop try with my lips,
The grass with my touch;

For how can I be sure
I shall see again
The world on the first of May
Shining after the rain?

“We dwell in the house of the body, but its perfection and intricate life are the work of a wisdom which never relaxes dominion over a single cell.” George William Russell

Whether we appreciate it or not, we live out our lives surrounded by an intricate pattern of social connections… We’re all embedded in this network; it affects us profoundly and we may be unaware of its existence, of its effect on us. Nicholas A. Christakis

Take time to nurture your body and your mind. Take time to smell the spring flowers and thank all who have labored hard on our behalf. It is not great dharma to enjoy the fruits of other people’s labor without giving thanks… The cycle of life is dependent on the wisdom that keeps everything churning in unison. When there is discord, all breaks down. When there is a focus on keeping the whole together… things are made greater not covetous and smaller. Happy May Day! May all your labor be celebrated when and where it matters… Life is intricate but humans make it complicated.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Intricate – design in nature and art

Social networks are these intricate things of beauty, and they’re so elaborate and so complex and so ubiquitous that one has to ask what purpose they serve. Nicholas A. Christakis

What purpose does everything around us serve? That is a great question to mull over this weekend… Take care!

My fellow bloggers were equally creative with their selections. Check out how others interpreted the theme below.

This post was inspired by a prompt from WP Daily Post: Weekly Photo Challenge: INTRICATE For This week, What does the word “intricate” mean to you? It could be the deep, fibrous bark on the ancient oak tree in your yard. Maybe it’s the robin’s nest under construction near your window …. intricate: what does it mean to you? Show us your interpretation.

Positive Motivation Tip: From the smallest intricate cell, to the largest woven artistic fabric, we can see beauty in all things.

You know, when I look into the centre of an intricate flower I wonder why? why nature created such intricate design? but I’m glad she did.

Intricate for me means the beauty of complex and details. Yes, we should really take time to smell the flowers. Life, for me, is devoid of meaning when we don’t live it like we’re not living, you know what I mean.
