Inspiration: #100HappyDays Challenge

71% of people tried to complete this challenge, but failed quoting lack of time as the main reason. These people simply did not have time to be happy. Do you? 100 happy days

What? A few days ago, I was surfing around on Facebook when I stumbled upon a post about the 100 Happy Days  Foundation  challenge. I took a cursory look at it, ignored it, and moved on to other demands. Later that morning, I saw a post on a friend’s page announcing the same challenge. I stopped, read it, clicked on the link and within minutes, I was sold. According to the happy folk on the 100 happy days site, we live in busy times filled with sound bytes, and less time to stop and inhale the moments that flash by. If we would commit to stop for a moment each day and take/post a photo, over time, our cumulative effort would renew our happiness quotient and spread to others around us. I agree. The more we take positive action to lift ourselves and others up, the greater our exposure to opportunities that heal and help us.

I decided to sign up and, as fate would have it, my friend Susan B, also came up with the idea of a group support effort on Instagram; we are using the hashtag – #100happybloggers.  If  you would like to join us and support other bloggers to stay on course with the challenge, connect with us on Instagram and use the hashtag #100happybloggers whenever you post a photo. You can choose to do it on another social media platform and that’s fine too. I believe that each of us can make a difference in the world if we spread some joy, happiness, and a friendly smile! Use the following and add your own to spread more joy: #100happydays #100happybloggers #100happydayschallenge If you’d prefer to cheer us on from the sidelines, please do but, don’t leave yourself out of the picture.

“Be happy for this moment. This moment is your life.” Omar Khayyam

It is not a happiness competition or a showing off contest. If you try to please / make others jealous via your pictures – you lose without even starting. Same goes for cheating.100 happy days

How? If you’d like to participate in the challenge, the process is quite simple. First, you must register on the 100 happy days website and choose a start date. Then choose your social media platform of choice for sharing your photos: It could be Facebook, twitter or Instagram. Once you’ve made a choice, all you need do is, every day, submit a picture of what made you happy using the public hashtag – #100happydays.  Your participation and share of happy moments can be private or public. Don’t feel obligated to do things like everyone else. You can do yours differently. The goal is to complete your task in a seamless and stress free way.

Remember that you are free to post your pictures publicly using your own hashtag or offer limited publicity for the enjoyment of your closest kin. If you wish to avoid any publicity, you may choose to send your pictures to myhappyday(at)100happydays.com. Either way, the choice is entirely yours and the key is to choose and post a photo that added a spark of joy to your day. While all of us are invited to post on a social media site, the #100happyday challenge is an individual effort. Since this is a challenge for each of us, there is no room for competition. Go with the flow and post as you go. The operative phrase is #100happydays for YOU!

“If you want to be happy, be.”Leo Tolstoy

“Try to make at least one person happy every day. If you cannot do a kind deed, speak a kind word. If you cannot speak a kind word, think a kind thought. Count up, if you can, the treasure of happiness that you would dispense in a week, in a year, in a lifetime!” Lawrence G. Lovasik

Why bother? We all know that happiness is a choice and an active emotion that requires nurturing. Every day, we experience moments of bliss, blues, and even blah. Regardless of our experiences, we can choose to step beyond the blues and embrace a moment or moments of joy. Our joy could come from what we eat, read, listen to, reflect on and who we hang out with. So, it is imperative that we surround ourselves with good, empowering energy. It might sound trivial to some but, with practice, it will begin to make sense as we watch ourselves unfold with compassion and gratitude. A happy heart is a softer, more compassionate heart. It is not motivated to hurt or malign others… so seize the moments that come and cherish them. Why bother? The #100happydays organizers found that:

People who successfully completed the #100happydays challenge:
– Started noticing what makes them happy every day;
– Felt in a better mood every day;
– Started receiving more compliments from other people;
– Realized how lucky they are to have the life they have;
– Became more optimistic;
– Fell in love during the challenge.100 happy days

Before you start wondering how you’ll survive 100 days of photos, keep in mind that this is not a test or competition. Go with your schedule, post as often as you can, and when the challenge ends, you’d be thrilled to kind that you’ve collected 100 happy moments that will forever remind you about both the ephemeral nature and beauty of life. When your 100 happy days ends, visit http://www.100happydays.com/done100 Happy Days/Done – share your 100 happy days challenge story, and get your100 happy moments printed. Now isn’t that worth the commitment? For your effort, you will receive a set of 100 happy days square print photos. Each will be a bravo moment to celebrate your effort at the finish line of the challenge! Now go do it. Don’t forget to use hashtag #100happydays daily, keep a calender tracker to help remind you and enjoy all your happy moments.

What Does Happy mean to you? What are your thoughts? Do you experience snatches or longer periods of happiness? What would your happy world look like? Do share! Thank you.

Positive Motivation Tip: A moment of Happy is worth more than a lifetime of misery. Be in the moment; all joy begins there. Choose happiness!

    I had to leave a comment because I totally believe in what you said . . . ” I believe that each of us can make a difference in the world if we spread some joy, happiness, and a friendly smile!” I smile and say hi to as many people as I can during the day and it is an incredible feeling to see how fast a smile can spread 🙂

    Once again, that quote is so true and full of wisdom. I know a number of people who spend all their energy on worrying about what might go wrong now, or in the future, that they never get the time or energy to celebrate what they have, and to celebrate what you have is one of the basics of a fulfilling life as you say.

    I love Leo Tolstoy’s quote that you referenced: “If you want to be happy, be.” Happiness to be is a fluid state. We can’t be discouraged because we’re not happy every moment of the day. It’s recognizing the times that we are that makes a world of difference. My happy world would look like me enjoying the company of my favorite people in my life. We don’t have to be in a fancy setting…just having a simple conversation is fine by me 🙂

    Happy mean being contented with what you have. Happy is a peaceful state of mind. Some people never be happy with what they have and never enough and could not get the ultimate happiness.
