There is only room in the lifeboat of your life for one, and you always choose yourself, and turn your parents into whatever it takes to keep you afloat. Anna Quindlen

There is a tide in the affairs of men, Which taken at the flood, leads on to fortune. Omitted, all the voyage of their life is bound in shallows and in miseries. On such a full sea are we now afloat. And we must take the current when it serves, or lose our ventures. William Shakespeare

Your shallowest help will hold me up afloat,
Whilst he upon your soundless deep doth ride;
Or, being wrecked, I am a worthless boat,
He of tall building, and of goodly pride.
William Shakespeare

My fellow bloggers were equally creative with their selections. Check out how others interpreted the theme below.

This post was inspired by a prompt from WP Daily Post: Weekly Photo Challenge: AFLOAT  This week, share a photo that’s afloat.  How do you interpret the word afloat? It could be the expression on your son’s face as he jumps on the bed. Maybe it’s your daughter’s triumphant smile after tossing training wheels to master her two-wheeler. It could be a beautiful cloud formation, pollen on the breeze, or an errant birthday party balloon making its escape into the sky. So looking forward to seeing what afloat means to you.

Positive Motivation Tip:  Life is about ups and downs… no matter what, stay afloat.

    Afloat: A Poem by C&C

Life took me out on a boat
    She left me stranded
    Tired, hungry; I demanded
She come back. I demanded. I wrote.
    I rolled it up
I sent it out in a bottle
    I watched it float
Away. And I waited with frustration
    Until I felt the syncopation
    In me; how it rewrote
    The story of my life.
And my heart wasn’t where it wanted to be
And my rhythm was off, afloat
In the midst of life’s ocean.
I think she held the notion
    That I could emote
    My lack of her
    Until I lacked of her.
And then I found the antidote
    To my affliction
    It was my addiction.
    It was her.

I always dream that I was floating…something like this “AFLOAT”, floating in water. And I ask my mother what is the meaning of that, she answered..that I am drifting to something..moving ahead without guidance. So I have to be very careful with my decisions in life.

I love the thought for this weekly photo challenge. When I was in my grade school years, back when I was in our swimming team, our coach would always tell us to keep ourselves afloat; not just in the water but also keep our hopes & dreams afloat. That way, we were able to accept lost competitions and appreciate the ones we won in. 🙂

Yes, in the challanging times we need to stay afloat by keeping our heads above water as they say. I try to always remain positive! Have a great day!
