Love recognizes no barriers. It jumps hurdles, leaps fences, penetrates walls to arrive at its destination full of hope.Maya Angelou
Wall Art, aka Graffitti or my term, VandArt, has been around since the days of the Egyptian Hieroglyphics; even earlier. People like Keith Haring, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Lee Quinones, King Robbo, Banksy, Kenny Scharf, John Fekner, Pixnit, Crash, Lady Pink, Alexander Brener, Dondi, Zephyr,Heathcote Williams, Blek le Rat, and a host of other artists elevated the form by going beyond defacing subway trains and public spaces. Wall art was not just about the external form but about the greater internal message; the inner stance of the artist. As Aristotle explains: The aim of art is to represent not the outward appearance of things, but their inward significance. What do you remember about any of this? Above and Below are some of my favorite examples. Come back later for more and explanations.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Walls… Keith Haring’s wall art
We have an unknown distance yet to run, an unknown river to explore. What falls there are, we know not; what rocks beset the channel, we know not; what walls ride over the river, we know not. Ah, well! we may conjecture many things. John Wesley Powell

My fellow bloggers were equally creative with their selections. Check out how others interpreted the theme below.
This post was inspired by a prompt from WP Daily Post: Weekly Photo Challenge: Walls Share an image of a wall that reveals something about a place, people, or you. From the interior walls of our home, to our book club’s Facebook wall, to the community bulletin board at the local market, walls are the canvases of our lives: where stories are read, voices are heard, ideas are shared. Much can be revealed from the items on a wall, from old postcards to long-forgotten flyers.
Positive Motivation Tip: Orange is a color that wakes me up and puts a smile on my face. Find your cheerful colors and have them around you. Go do it!

“We build too many walls and not enough bridges.” That is true…even with the ones we love most sometimes. Seems silly from a distance, doesn’t it?
Yep… It resonated with me too…
These are great art pieces, I love looking at all the different styles. Graffitti has to be one of my favorites, because it’s so creative and you can really see a story in graffitti.
I love graffiti too…and outdoor murals.
Pretty awesome pictures. I love the challenge.
Orange is one of those colors that cheers me up, too! It reminds me of sunshine and the beach 🙂

I love the orange quote. I need to find my colors and fill every room. I swear colors always change my mood and keep me happy!
I like the quote that says love knows no boundaries. It makes me think of the 1 Corinthians 13 verse talking about all the qualities of love.
Wow – some of those are very powerful images. I’m an art lover and always enjoy seeing new pieces. Thanks for sharing this.
This a great challenge. These are beautiful pictures.
Lovely. I just love how… simple stuff like these can actually say so much and appreciate the art along with it as well. Wonderful.
This is a really cool challenge. I love the thought and creativity that went into each and every one of them.
I actually love graffiti art. Some of it is amazingly beautiful, such as your words.
That wall art by Keith Haring is awesome! Very artistic and very creative. What a talent!
The first photo reminds me of the crazy looking wallpaper I have in the attic. Very retro lol. I need to participate in photo challenges like this, it’s so much fun.
You should. You’ll have a blast. 😉
I really like the graffiti image. I am one of those people who thinks graffiti can be really beautiful.
Same here! Kindred spirits. 😉
My workspace is so drab. I really need to look into adding cheerful colors to my surroundings!
Do so… a few posters would help. 😉
Those are such interesting looks. I think I tend to go for quiet backgrounds but use accessories for pops of color and pattern.
Yes, I go for solid walls too. All the pictures are representations of works of art. So they are not meant for home walls unless someone is really into chintz! Haha! 🙂
That is awesome artwork! I need something like that in my house.
These are beautiful pieces of art. Thank you for sharing. Some of them are wild. I always like the beautiful murals.
I love the flowery wall. It’s so happy and colorful.

Great Maya Angelou quote, I’m going to have to copy and paste that one. So sad that I just typed that instead of say ‘write it down.’
Hahahaha! Yona please! You are on point. It is the language of the 21st century. Who writes these days? LOL!
